Opis:
Purpose: Long-distance running has been a global popularity, and differences may be observed in runners of experience. This study was aimed to evaluate the differences in plantar loading between experienced long-distance runners and novice runners during walking. The hypotheses were that smaller load in the middle of the forefoot and the stable foot balance would be observed in experienced runners during walking. Methods: Twenty-five participants were recruited as the experienced runners group (ten: frequency ≥ 4 times/week and distance ≥ 40 km/week, for over 1 year) and the novice group (fifteen: frequency ≤ 2 times/week and distance ≤ 10 km/week, for less than 1 year). Results: The peak Meta loading showed that the novice runners were significantly larger than the experienced runners ( p ≤ .001). The occurring time of peak Meta loading was significantly delayed compared to the experienced runners ( p = .050). Peak Foot balance was higher in the novice runners group ( p ≤ 0.001). Conclusions: This study highlighted the findings of the potential differences of plantar pressures and foot functional parameters during walking in experienced runners and novice runners, specifically the contact duration of phases during stance, toes functions and medial-lateral loading shifting (foot balance) and metatarsals (central forefoot) offloading.

Opis:
Insulin resistance (IR) plays a critical role in metabolic syndrome (MS). Previous studies have demonstrated that activated ROCK is increased in MS patients. However, the effect of Rho-kinase (ROCK) on IR has not been definitely determined. Thus, the aims of the present study were to determine whether ROCK activation induces IR or affects myocardial structure and function, as well as the possible mechanisms underlying this process. Wistar rats fed high fat, high glucose and high salt diet sewed as model of MS and we used transmission electron microscopy, echocardiogram technology, and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated DNA nick-end labeling staining to identify any myocardial damage. The protein levels of MYPT-1 (characteristic of ROCK activation), IRS-1 and AKT were analyzed by immunohistochemistry and Western blotting. In hearts from MS rats, we found increased protein levels of phospho-MYPT-1 and phospho-IRS-1 (Ser307) and decreased phospho-AKT compared to levels in normal rats. In conclusion, the results suggest that ROCK-mediated IR is involved in the development of myocardial impairments in MS rats and that this effect is mediated probably via the IRS-1/PI3-kinase/AKT pathway.

Opis:
Cotton suffers attacks of various pests that result in a decreased yield. Until recently, the chemical control of pests was achieved through seed film-coating treatment with toxic insecticides. The natural aminopolysaccharide extracts from crab is a promising candidate as a repellent to protect cotton from Aphis gossypii Glover and Helicoverpa armigera Hubner. Experiments were conducted to study the effect of aminopolysaccharide on pest control, seed germination, plant growth and lint yield. Results indicated that all aminopolysaccharide treatments of different content repelled pests efficiently and increased significantly seed germination, plant growth and cotton yield. The natural aminopolysaccharide extracts from shrimp is a promising candidate as a repellent to protect cotton from Aphis gossypii Glover and Helicoverpa armigera Hubner. The application of the potential aminopolysaccharide by seed coating is an appropriate option for controlling pests and avoiding environmental pollution.
