Opis:
The paper deals with the testing of composite materials based on aluminium and polymer microparticles. The aim of the research was to determine an influence of a content of a microparticle filler on mechanical properties of the polymer particle composite and adhesive bonds (material structural carbon steel S235J0). A preparation of adhesive bonds and a process of testing of the adhesive bonds were in accordance with the standard CSN EN 1465. The adhesive bond strength was increased when adding the aluminium and polymer powder filler. The adhesive bond strength increase was the highest at the adhesive bond with the adhesive in the form of the composite (15 g of the filler : 100 g of the matrix). The adhesive bond strength increase was 14.3% (13.68 ± 0.43 MPa). Adhesive bonds evinced an adhesive type of a fracture surface. By adding the filler in a form of microparticles there was a change of the failure type on adhesive-cohesive and a cohesive type. Fracture surfaces and an adhesive bond cut was examined with SEM (scanning electron microscopy) using a microscope MIRA 3 TESCAN.

Opis:
Different analytical formulae have been described in the literature to modify response of Geiger-Müller (G-M) detectors. In this work, improvement of a previously proposed dead time correction formula was investigated. A set of experimental data of a decaying source was the basis of the analysis. A general agreement is seen with the experimental data. The result was compared with those obtained by the original work. Numerical aspects were also examined.

Opis:
The paper investigates the effects of degreasing, surface preparation methods in adhesive bonding and con adhesive joint strength. Five types of degreasing agents were used in the study: acetone, extraction naphtha, Ultramyt, Wiko and Loctite 7061. The degreasing operation was performed by three methods: rubbing, spraying and immersion. Strength tests were performed on single-lap adhesive joints of hot-dip galvanized metal sheets made with Loctite 9466 adhesive according to the above variants of surface preparation. The experimental results demonstrate that adhesive joint strength is significantly affected by the applied degreasing agent. Moreover, the method of application of the degreasing agent is crucial, too. The results of strength testing reveal that the most effective degreasing method for hot-dip galvanized metal sheet adhesive joints is spraying using extraction naphtha. Thereby, degreased samples have the highest immediate strength and shear strength. The use of extraction naphtha is also effective in combination with degreasing by rubbing; however, it is not effective when used in combination with immersion, as reflected in the lowest strength results.

Opis:
Dead time parameter of Geiger-Müller (G-M) counters causes a great uncertainty in their response to the incident radiation intensity at high counting rates. As their applications in experimental nuclear science are widespread, many attempts have been done on improvements of their nonlinear response. In this work, response of a G-M counter system is optimized and corrected efficiently using feed forward artificial neural network (ANN). This method is simple, fast, and provides the answer to the problem explicitly with no need for iteration. The method is applied to a set of decaying source experimental data measured by a fairly large G-M tube. The results are compared with those predicted by a given analytical model which is called hybrid model. The maximum deviation of the corrected results from the true counting rates is less than 4% which is a significant improvement in comparison with the results obtained by the analytical method. Results of this study show that by using a proper artificial neural network structure, the dead time effects of G-M counters can be tolerated significantly.

Opis:
The magnetic field and beat-treatment dependences of the ultrasound velocities at constant magnetic field (CH) and at constant magnetic induction (cB) and magnetomechanical coupling were investigated in Fe62.5Co6Ni7.5Zr6Cu1Nb2B15 alloy strips in an as-quenched state and after annealing above the Curie temperature. After annealing above 350oC (up to 390oC) the magnetomechanical coupling coefficient (k) was three times higher than that for asquenched state (0.10-012), i.e. k = 0.32-0.37. The minimum values of the cH (= 3.6 km/s) were observed after annealing in the temperature range from 350 to 390oC at 75-100 A/m. There are equal or somewhat higher values of bias field for the minimum of the cH than in some other iron-rich amorphous alloys. Effect de was very small for as-quenched samples. When the samples reached the magnetic saturation, the domain structure vanished and then the Hooke's law was valid, i.e. EH = EB = E, where E was then material constant, known as Young's modulus and then the ultrasound velocities are also material constant.

Opis:
The paper investigates the compression strength of samples of regenerative polymer mass RM 101 Resimetal Metal Repair Pasta manufactured by Rendor. The effect of weather conditions on selected mechanical properties of the tested mass is examined. The samples are subjected to seasoning at room temperature, in an environmental chamber, and in a thermal shock chamber. The samples for strength testing are made according to the adopted method. It has been observed that the samples seasoned at room temperature have the lowest strength, while the highest strength is exhibited by the samples subjected to seasoning in an environmental chamber at a temperature of 70°C and humidity of 95%. In addition, the paper compares the strength properties of regenerative polymer masses manufactured by Chester Molecular, Belzona, and Unirep, as well as of the widely used epoxy compound Epidian 57 mixed with the Z-1 curing agent with those of the Rendor mass. The properties of the above masses are obtained from the available literature.

Opis:
In mid-scale and large five axis overhead gantry type milling machines, the vertical z-slide (ram) often constitutes one of the most sensitive and critical components regarding stiffness, structural vibrations and thermal influences. During machining, the z-slide is loaded by (quasi-) static process and drive forces, transient acceleration forces, periodic excitations by the tool engagement, as well as by thermal effects resulting from altering ambient conditions, heated chips, cooling lubricant and power losses in drives, guides and bearings. Deflections, thermal deformations and vibrations of the z-slide lead to geometric machining errors and inacceptable surface location errors at the workpieces. Furthermore, instable cutting conditions and regenerative chatter limit applicable material removal rates and, thus, productivity. In this work, a newly developed hybrid material structure for an exemplary z-slide, involving metal parts and mineral cast, is introduced. Structural optimization methods as well as process simulation techniques were applied in order to derive the final design solution. The integration of active cooling circuits for thermal stabilization is investigated and the use of fibre optical strain sensors is analysed with respect to a state monitoring of the machine tool component.
