For symmetric Taylor tests a 2 m long electromagnetic accelerator will be used to accelerate 100 g rods up to 300 m/s. Only a small variance of the muzzle parameters, velocity and exit time, is tolerable. In order to find the most reliable, simple and efficient accelerator type, an axial coilgun, a flat-channel accelerator and an augmented railgun are compared using a lumped parameter model. In particular, the accelerator mutual inductances and their gradients characterize the propulsive forces. The essential advantages of the flat-channel geometry over the axial coilgun geometry are shown. The geometric improvements of the flat-channel accelerator open the way for the augmented railgun suitable and effective for the planned application. To minimize the variance of the muzzle parameters, modular capacitor banks with semiconductor switches allow the dynamic control of the railgun current, in principle.

The complexity in automotive manufacturing increased enormously in the last couple of years. Reasons therefore are due to a widened product portfolio, enlarged manufacturing capacities distributed over several manufacturing sites and a large number of suppliers feeding the manufacturing network around the world. The factories are under permanent change and must be planned, configured and adapted in a permanent way. Consequently, planning tasks go along with a comparable degree of complexity as the manufacturing itself and must stand the continuous change manufacturing is faced with. Therefore, a factory model representing the essential information about the products, the technological resources and their interdependencies must be built for planning purposes. In context of long-term strategic planning tasks, structural changes are in specific focus and must be considered in the model. In this paper, a model of a factory structure, which can be used for the strategic planning of a manufacturing network is proposed. The factory structure model is based on a current configuration and has the architecture to consider future change within forecasts and scenarios.

In intra-enterprise logistics and automation of manufacturing processes general a rising productivity by high flexibility is required. Existing transportation systems exclusively use two-dimensional track sections, because they can be served with standard drives. Because of these simple structures the transport speed is limited and thereby also the throughput. In this paper now a modular transportation system is presented which could reach higher speeds with a direct drive and the use of centrifugal force compensating curves. Simultaneously the system also can change the altitude. All this succeeds with the integration of three-dimensional track sections. Therefore a two piped guiding system with a long stator linear motor was designed. To combine the linear motor with the three dimensional track special stator elements were developed which allow a bending of the stator to follow the route course. The current work deals with the implementation of a mechanical passive switch, which is operated by the electromagnetic forces of the linear motor. So no additional mechanical actors or a separate electromagnetic system are necessary.

Opis:
In this contribution, we review the development of sources for far-infrared (terahertz) radiation based on laser-generated gas plasmas. We describe several generation mechanisms based on ponderomotive forces, external field screening, and optical second-harmonic biasing. These methods are compared with the standard techniques with respect to the achievable terahertz pulse energy.

In this paper atom probe tomography is used to explore early stage clustering in aluminum alloys. Two novel concepts for a modification of clustering are discussed. Control of early stage clustering is welcome from an application point of view since clustering deteriorates strength evolution during the industrial heat treatment of the important class of Al-Mg-Si precipitation-hardenable alloys. Nanoscale early stage clusters are very difficult to observe and atom probe tomography is the best technique to visualize and chemically measure Si or Mg-containing clusters in aluminum alloys. Restrictions remain in achieving the ultimate quantification of such small solute aggregates by atom probe tomography, such as detection efficiency, local magnification effects, surface migration of solute atoms, and unresolved issues with the reconstruction procedure. Here we investigate one of these restricting effects, namely the migration of solute atoms during atom probe tomography measurements. In particular Si is found to be preferentially localized or absent at certain crystallographic poles in aluminum, which derogates the experimental results gained from atom probe tomography studies of clustering in Si-containing aluminum alloys. This artifact is investigated for different specimen temperatures, detection rates and pulse fractions during atom probe tomography measurements. Optimal strategies to analyze small-scale solute clusters in Si-containing aluminum alloys are presented.

The „molecular” term appears more and more often in the materials chemistry. The Nobel Prize in 2016 was awarded to Jean-Pierre Sauvage, Sir J. Fraser Stoddart and Bernard R. Feringa „for the design and synthesis of molecular machines”. Magnetism in molecular scale, also known as molecular nanomagnetism, has been developing intensively since the second half of the last century. This branch of science involves the magnetic properties of coordination compounds of d- and f-electron metals. The paper presents results of the magnetic studies of molecular magnets of copper(II) and dysprosium(III), which have been pursuing in two doctoral thesis. The compounds form trinuclear and triangular molecules. The spin frustration phenomenon observed in the triangular relationship of copper(II) has been described. Since dysprosium(III) ion is characterized by a large magnetic anisotropy, the triangular, trinuclear coordination compound of dysprosium(III) of the formula [Dy3L5HLCl4]∙HL (where HL = 2-methoxyethanol) presents the characteristic properties of molecular magnets (SMMs) behavior. Two values of the energy barier were determined as Ueff/kB = 84,6 K and 31,2 K with the corresponding relaxation times τ0 = 1,82·10-6 s and 5,19·10-5 s. The data are probably attributed to different geometry of the coupled dysprosium ions.

Hereby, we present a study of a thermal quenching of emission from self-assembled epitaxial highly asymmetric quantum dots in InGaAs/GaAs material system for both ensemble and single dot regime. Pronounced interplay between the intensity of wetting layer and quantum dots originated emission was observed as the temperature was increased, evidencing a thermally activated energy transfer between the two parts of the system and an important role of the wetting layer in determining the optical properties of these anisotropic nanostructures. The carrier activation energies have been derived and possible carrier loss mechanisms have been analyzed. Single dot study revealed activation energies slightly varying from dot to dot due to size and shape distribution. The problem of the shape uniformity of individual quantum dot has also been addressed and possibility of additional carrier localization within the investigated structures has been found to be insignificant based on the recorded spectroscopic data.

This scientific study is part of research no. 130 Metenko Jozef, Methods of research and development of police activities, research no. 201 Metenko Jozef, Strengthening of European coordination in the field of national security research programmes for major events, research no.182 Metenko Jozef, Administrative practice for dialogue and communication, as the strategic principles of police activities for political manifestation and research no. 173 Metenko Jozef, Coordination of national research and policy to ensure security in major events in Europe. The scientific study deals with the issue of police interventions into fundamental rights and freedoms as a result of police activities connected to the execution of tasks and duties of police officers, and also with other provisions of the Act on the Police Force. The authors consider the rule of law to be synonymous with constitutional or legitimate governance and which also characterises the exercise of state authority on the basis of constitutionally issued laws. The authors associate police interventions with the protective function of the state, establish conditions for interference with fundamental rights and freedoms from the perspective of police activity which compliance with, or breaching of, indicates whether the particular rights and freedoms are violated or not by the intervention. Subsequently, the authors identified the concepts of prevention and prophylaxis, which they interpret on the basis of chosen international scientific results and conclusions.

Terahertz emission from laser-generated air plasmas has recently been identified as an interesting source for THz radiation. High intensities and a large bandwidth of the THz pulses can be achieved. We briefly review several mechanisms which were employed to generate the quasi-static dipole moment needed for the optical rectification process. This leads us to a discussion of a specific application of THz emission from an air plasma, namely the investigation of the carrier-envelope phase of few-cycle optical pulses. Such pulses of a duration of less than 10 fs induce a spatial charge asymmetry in the plasma directly via non-linear tunneling ionization. The asymmetry, and with it the emission of the THz radiation from the plasma, depend on the carrier-envelope phase, with the consequence that one can determine the phase by measurement of the amplitude and polarity of the THz pulse.
