Opis:
A new genus and species of a non-cyamodontoid placodont is described on the basis of an incomplete and disarticulated skeleton from Winterswijk, the Netherlands, dated as early Anisian (Lower Muschelkalk). The new taxon is unique in a ventrolateral expansion of the neural arches of the posterior presacral and sacral vertebrae, in which the transverse process is incorporated. It has a round, plate-like pubis and ischium, and the only preserved long bone indicates elongated limbs. The holotype, which is relatively large (>1.35 m) for a basal sauropterygian, has still un-fused halves of neural arches and no distinct neural spine developed yet. The new taxon is assigned to non-cyamodontoid placodonts based on its round girdle elements, the morphology of dorsal-, sacral-, and caudal ribs, the straight medial and mediolateral elements of gastral ribs, and the presence of un-sutured armour plates. In spite of the large size of the holotype, there is evidence that the animal was not yet fully grown, based on the paired neural arches, and general poor ossification of the bones. The un-fused halves of neural arches are interpreted as skeletal paedomorphosis, which is typical for vertebrates with a secondary marine life style. The sacral region seems to be highly flexible.

Opis:
A nothosaur skull recently discovered from the Lower Muschelkalk (early Anisian) locality of Winterswijk, The Netherlands, represents at only 46 mm in length the smallest nothosaur skull known today. It resembles largely the skull morphology of Nothosaurus marchicus. Differences concern beside the size, the straight rectangular and relative broad parietals, the short posterior extent of the maxilla, the skull proportions, and the overall low number of maxillary teeth. In spite of its small size, the skull can not unequivocally be interpreted as juvenile. It shows fused premaxillae, nasals, frontals, and parietals, a nearly co−ossified jugal, and fully developed braincase elements, such as a basisphenoid and massive epipterygoids. Adding the specimen to an existing phylogenetic analysis shows that it should be assigned to a new species, Nothosaurus winkelhorsti sp. nov., at least until its juvenile status can be unequivocally verified. Nothosaurus winkelhorsti sp. nov. represents, together with Nothosaurus juvenilis, the most basal nothosaur, so far.

Opis:
Late Valanginian (Early Cretaceous) lamellaptychi of the genus Mortilletilamellaptychus were collected from seven ammonite-controlled sections in south-eastern France demonstrate distinct changes in ribbing during growth. Simpler juvenile ribbing, which is essentially uniform for all of the specimens studied, differs distinctly from the complicated arrangement of the adult ribs. Changes in ribbing morphology were observed in the five species studied, two of which were identified as new (i.e. Mortilletilamellaptychus heterocostatus sp. nov. and M. bicostatus sp. nov.).

Opis:
Late Berriasian–earliest Valanginian lamellaptychi (Cephalopoda) are described in detail for the first time. With one exception, all species belong to early representatives of Mortilletilamellaptychus. The majority of the well dated aptychi come from the cephalopod-rich sediments of the Vocontian Basin in south-eastern France; others are from south-eastern Spain. Thorolamellaptychus anglesensis sp. nov. is introduced.

We study the bound state solutions of the Klein-Gordon equation with Woods-Saxon plus attractive inversely quadratic potential using the parametric Nikiforov-Uvarov Method. We obtained the bound state energy eigenvalues and the corresponding normalized eigen functions expressed in terms of hypergeometric functions. Two special cases of this potential are discussed.

Opis:
Amenability of mafic ores to pre-concentration was investigated with respect to ore mineraliza-tion characteristics. For the pre-concentration tests seven ores from various nickel-copper operations at Sudbury, Ontario were subjected to dense medium separation. Size assays of metal values, i.e. distribution of nickel and copper with respect to size fractions, were also determined. The ores were assessed in three categories of valuable mineralization as massive pure sulphides, coarse massive sulphide grains and disseminated sulphides. For ores with massive pure sulphides and coarse massive sulphide grains even a size classification based pre-concentration route could be sought since a clear trend of metal enrichment was identified towards finer fractions. Orebodies of similar mineralogy had similar responses to pre-concentration tests. The best results were for those ore bodies with a distinct differentiation between mineralization and gangue, i.e. the ores with massive pure sulphides, where nickel recoveries of 97% and mass rejections of 38-53% were achieved. Similar results were obtained for ores with coarse massive sulphides. For disseminated sulphide mineralogy relatively lower mass rejection was attained with acceptable recoveries of metals. Rejection of magnesium bearing gangue, such as talc, was identified as another benefit of pre-concentration. The extent of magnesium rejection occurred as a function of ore mineralogy. Clear distinction between valuable mineralization and gangue provided preferential magnesium rejection at high levels with no or minor metal losses.
