- Opis:
- In the article „Kant. The last days” − one or two texts compares two − not very distant in time − versions of Zbigniew Herbert's poem mentioned in the title. The poem, ultimately included in Epilog burzy (Epilogue of the Storm), earlier − in a different version − had been printed in „Odra”. The author is not only interested in the dynamic of the creative process (which is revealed and described in a very interesting way), but, first of all, in the question of dramatic (happening as if „in full view of the readers”) clashes and turns, whose „sense” and „mechanics” seem to be lying at the foundations not only of Herbert's „thought” but „poetics” as well. The relation between the autonomous versions of the poem (paradoxically they both seem to be at the same time „draft” and „final” versions) becomes the point departure for considerations of the categories of „suffering” and „sympathy” that are so important for Herbert's writing. Tyszczyk also exposes the „metaphysical horizon” in the poetry of the author of Napis that is revealed in an unusual way, namely in an „intertextual play”. The presented analysis stresses the „tragic” trait in Herbert's poetry, making its image − probably too simple in the readers' consciousness − more complicated.
