Opis:
The aim of this study was to develop an action checklist for educational training of clinical nurses. The study used qualitative and quantitative methods. Questionnaire items were extracted through in-depth interviews and a questionnaire survey. PASW version 19 and AMOS version 19 were used for data analyses. Reliability and validity were tested with both exploratory and confirmative factor analysis. The levels of the indicators related to goodness-of-fit were acceptable. Thus, a model kit of work improvements in clinical nursing was developed. It comprises 5 domains (16 action points): health promotion (5 action points), work management (3 action points), ergonomic work methods (3 action points), managerial policies and mutual support among staff members (3 action points), and welfare in the work area (2 action points).

This study determined flexion and extension angles of resting fingers and wrist in terms of forearm posture (neutral, pronation and supination) and shoulder flexion (0°, 45°, 90° and 135°). The participants participated in 12 angle measurements for 16 finger joints and wrist. The finger joints flexed more in supination than in neutral posture and pronation and the thumb flexed more than the other fingers because of the gravity and skin tension. This phenomenon became more apparent as the shoulder flexed. The carpometacarpal joint had the largest flexion angle in the thumb joints, whereas the proximal interphalangeal joints had the largest flexion angles in the other finger joints. The resting posture of the wrist extended of ~16° in any forearm postures when the shoulder was at 0°. The results of this study could be useful for rehabilitation tool and product designs.

The article, being a part of the just prepared book, deals with two different interpretations of Nietzschean text. C. G. Jung devoted five years' Seminar to discuss "Thus spoke Zarathustra" in the Psychological Club (1934–39), M. Heidegger was giving lectures and developing his controversy (Auseinandersetzung) with Nietzsche between 1934–48, some pauses including. The thesis exposed in the article suggests that in Nietzsche's text they were looking for the kind of language, capable to generate transformation of individual and general culture of being. The quest for such a regenerative code is explored in three main semantic fields: the "natural", the sacred and the artistic. The task of regaining "natural" character of human unity, despite of theoretical inadequacy of the category of "nature"; the aim of taking care of alive essence of sacrum as well as the possibilities of regeneration that may be found in the sphere of artistic experience, are considered in the light of Jungian and Heideggerian perspectives of reading Nietzsche. Ambivalence of their interpretations helps to show also certain continuous difficulties to get access to the sources of life. To endure these, at first unknown, conditions of our lives, allows the mind to learn and shape thinking from experience. Jung's and Heidegger's dialogues with Nietzsche may let us see that enduring in the unknown does not have to paralyze the growth of thinking.

The goal of this study was to evaluate working postures in 9 operations of poultry farming for broiler chickens for 14 body segments with 4 categories, and for fingers with 14 categories. Overall, the farmers commonly bent almost all their body segments and used power grips. The operations of cleaning with water wand and inspecting chickens seemed light work because the farmers walked around most of their working time. The operations of detaching base from hanging feeder and attaching base to hanging feeder had the farmers continue squatting to handle the feeders close to the floor. The farmers also repeatedly bent their trunks in shoveling feces, unloading a box of chicks, and releasing chicks. A power grip was frequently observed due to using tools with round handles. Workplace design to raise working height would be necessary for a better working environment for broiler farmers.

This paper suggests a practical and simple process consisting of 8 stages: needs assessment, ergonomics guidelines, anthropometry, brainstorming and idea sketch, preliminary model, drafting and rendering, working prototype, and user trials. The feasibility of this process was verified with the development of a modified clamping hand tool and a new student desk and chair. The case studies showed how design difficulties were overcome by integrating ergonomics guidelines in the process.

Opis:
Simulation of light beam propagation in optical fiber with a high step index requires the use of complicated methods. One of the simplest and accurate method is presented in this paper. The possibility of use of beam propagation method with exact boundary conditions in light beam propagation in optical fibers is shown in this work. The comparison of this method with analytical solutions for planar waveguide and optical fiber confirms usefulness of it.

The Danube River Basin is shared by 19 countries, which makes it the world’s most international river basin. More than 81 million people of different cultures and languages live in the Danube Basin and they all are interconnected through the widely ramified water system of the Danube. The cultural variety is not only a valuable attribute of this region, but it also causes barriers related to the transport of goods and passengers on the Danube waterway and its navigable tributaries. The abundant existence of administrative barriers in Europe limits the economic and environmental potentials of inland waterway transport (IWT) as a sustainable mode of transport. These administrative barriers consist for example in reporting requirements that vary considerably among fairway authorities and Danube countries. Most often, reports or data provided cannot be re-used across countries or is not available requiring additional input or additional reporting activities by the barge operator. The objective of this paper is to identify administrative barriers for IWT on the Danube and develop solutions for improved procedures and processes. Data is collected from a dense network of stakeholders operating along the Danube. National focus groups were held to analyse the procedures and administrative processes in inland waterway transport and identify barriers. Further, an online-survey has been set up to collect data. Potential solutions are developed in a cooperative way together with involved operators and authorities. The philosophy of lean administration suggests that non-value added activities (“waste”) must be identified in a first step to make processes more efficient. A diverse number of non-value added administrative barriers were therefore identified in the countries along the Danube. Afterwards, Port Community Systems are introduced as a possible solution to overcome administrative barriers.

Many high performance and permanent service parts require suitable material characteristics-high fatigue strength is one of the most important characteristics. For this reason, surface treatment processes are essential to increase the material performance and avoid the use of costly ineffective material. There exist various surface treatment processes for various applications. Each process has advantages and disadvantages and hybridization can solve various problems. The micro-forging process delivers a controlled and uniform surface hardness, but the depth of the forged surface is limited. On the other hand, laser heat treatment can increase the hardness drastically, but the surface may become brittle, which reduces the fatigue life. Laser-assisted micro-forging is a novel hybrid process of laser heat treatment and micro-forging that has the potential to increase the forging depth and relax the stress caused by the high temperature of the forging process. This study examines the effect of laser preheating in the micro-forging of AISI 4140. The processes were varied as follows: no treatment, micro-forging only, and laser-assisted micro-forging. The fatigue strength of the specimens was examined by means of an ultrasonic fatigue tester and then compared. The microstructural changes were investigated with respect to the processes by using scanning electron microscopy. In conclusion, it was confirmed that the laser preheating auxiliary forging affects the fatigue life. It was confirmed that the fatigue life was the mostly increased in 550°C temperature laser preheating micro forging process and the temperature was identified as the most important factor.

Introduction This study was undertaken to determine the mean peak filter resistance to airflow (R filter) encountered by subjects while wearing prototype filtering facepiece respirators (PRs) with low Rfilter during nasal and oral breathing at sedentary and low-moderate work rates. Material and methods In-line pressure transducer measurements of mean R filter across PRs with nominal R filter of 29.4 Pa, 58.8 Pa and 88.2 Pa (measured at 85 l/min constant airflow) were obtained during nasal and oral breathing at sedentary and low-moderate work rates for 10 subjects. Results The mean R filter for the 29.4 PR was significantly lower than the other 2 PRs (p < 0.000), but there were no significant differences in mean R filter between the PRs with 58.8 and 88.2 Pa filter resistance (p > 0.05). The mean R filter was greater for oral versus nasal breathing and for exercise compared to sedentary activity (p < 0.001). Conclusions Mean oral and nasal R filter for all 3 PRs was at, or below, the minimal threshold level for detection of inspiratory resistance (the 58.8–74.5 Pa/l×s⁻¹), which may account for the previously-reported lack of significant subjective or physiological differences when wearing PRs with these low R filter. Lowering filtering facepiece respirator R filter below 88.2 Pa (measured at 85 l/min constant airflow) may not result in additional subjective or physiological benefit to the wearer.

Electrical properties of RF magnetron sputtered p-NiO films were characterized after fabrication and after gamma irradiations using $\text{}^{137}Cs$ and $\text{}^{60}Co$ sources. Electrical parameters are obtained from the Hall measurements, impedance spectroscopy and C-V measurement of n-Si/p-NiO junction diodes. The results show that resistivity of the NiO film is gradually increased following after sequential irradiation processes because of the decrease in holes' concentration. Hole concentration of a NiO film decreases from the original value of $4.36 \times 10^{16} cm^{-3}$ to $2.86 \times 10^{16} cm^{-3}$ after $\text{}^{137}Cs γ$ irradiation with doses of 10 Gy. In the case of γ irradiation from $\text{}^{60}Co$ source, hole concentration of the film decreases from $6.3 \times 10^{16}//cm^3$ to $4.1 \times 10^{16}//cm^3$ and to $2.9 \times 10^{16}//cm^3$ after successive expositions with a dose of 20 Gy.

The main aim of this study was to create a semiempirical model, helpful in estimating severity of the Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection by using the urea breath test (UBT), when urea labelled 14C has been used for diagnostics. The model consists of four compartments representing stomach (1), blood vascular system (2), lungs (3) and urinary system (4). Mathematical model is based on the balance of radioactive 14C in compartments from 1 to 4. The histological investigations were used as reference methods. Comparison of the results obtained from simulation, which yields dependence of 14C activity on time, to experimental results of UBT, made it possible to determine the ranges of coefficient hB value, which characterized each degrees of severity of H. pylori infection: degree 0 (lack of infection) - hB below 0.025; degree 1 (not large) - hB in range 0.025-0.115; degree 2 (moderate) - hB in range 0.115-0.300; degree 3 (significant) - hB above 0.300. It was possible to estimate severity of H. pylori infection in clinical practice on the basis of comparing the 14C activity value of experimental points as obtained from the breath test, to the results of simulation with suitable value of the fitted parameter hB indicating degree of severity of infection.

Experimental and numerical analyses were conducted to investigate the effect of an eccentric loaded contour hole on a rock mass. In the concrete blocks used for the analyses, detonating cords were placed at the centre of the blast hole and eccentrically against the wall of the blast hole. PFC2D and AUTODYN were used for the numerical analyses, and the results of these software showed that an eccentric decoupled charge can result in the directional development of fractures, thereby enabling the control of cracks in the opposite direction. Even though both types of blasting have identical decoupling indexes, the crack and fracture patterns were affected by the location of the explosive, tamping, and other conditions. The results showed that an eccentric charge holder can be applicable to control the fracture direction and the damaged zone. For an eccentric charge, the initial crack was generated at 0.01 ms and expanded in the intended direction. For the eccentric charge, the maximum pressure at the area in contact with the blast hole wall exceeded that for the central decoupled charge by a factor of 5.5. Furthermore, the pressure in the intended direction was twice of that in the opposite direction.
