Opis:
ESR measurements for Gd(Al$\text{}_{1 -x}$Ge$\text{}_{x}$) and Gd(Al$\text{}_{1-x}$Sb$\text{}_{x}$) pseudobinary systems with x ≤ 0.15 are presented. In all investigated compounds a marked change in thermal broadening of the line width was observed in temperature lower than 300 K. Using obtained results the bottleneck parameter was calculated as a function of concentration x.

Opis:
The first observation of Pr$\text{}^{+}$ ions stored in a Paul trap is reported. Initially the ions were observed by the electronic detection method, and further the laser induced fluorescence, following resonance absorption at a certain optical transition in Pr$\text{}^{+}$ ion, which is excited from the ground state, was recorded. Moreover, fluorescence signal following the excitation from a low-lying metastable state could be detected. The Paul trap system and some other parts of the experimental setup were constructed within the frame of this work and thus are briefly described in the present contribution.

Organometallic compounds play an exceptional role among organic compounds. Due to their structure a number of these compounds demonstrate interesting properties in various phenomena. Organometallic compounds show special properties in the case of X-ray absorption owing to considerable differences between the absorption coefficients of metals and light elements. The analysis of processes of charge carrier generation as a result of X-ray absorption in chosen organometallic compounds is the subject of this paper. Spectral dependences of charge carrier photogeneration efficiency around the Cu K-edge in copper phthalocyanine and copper acetylacetoniane have been specially considered. It has been observed that the photocurrent spectrum in these materials follows the absorption spectrum but mutual relation is not directly proportional. Experimental results connected with current-voltage and current-intensity characteristics have been analysed, as well. The obtained relationships have been compared with adequate results connected with charge carrier photogeneration in visible area and UV in organic materials. It has been observed that the X-ray photogeneration of charge carriers in the examined range of energy differs from the mechanisms of charge carrier generation in visible area and UV. The basic differences arise from the participation of secondary electrons, which are generated due to Auger electrons, Compton effect, and metal fluorescence. The process of charge carrier generation as a result of X-rays absorption is characterized by strong recombination of charge carriers in channels in which charge carriers are generated by high energetic secondary electrons.

The studies on the reproductive system of P. respirans, based on 115 specimens, have revealed its considerable variability. Two main types of the system can be distinguished: 1) ovaries reaching the first pair of testes, ejaculatory ducts symmetrical, no seminal vesicles (juvenile individuals), 2) ovaries reaching the first pair of testes, ejaculatory ducts symmetrical, seminal vesicles reaching the ends of ovaries (adults individuals). The structure of the reproductive system is correlated with the individual size and age. Because the reproductive system of P. respirans as described by BRUMPT (1900) and SKET ( 1968) based on type specimens designated by them, is found only in a small fraction (c. 4-8%) of specimens, a redescription of the species is necessary, best based on a neotype series.

W celu określenia wpływu hiperbarii na zdolność do wykonywania czynności operatorskich, przeprowadzono badania w symulowanych warunkach zanurzenia na głębokości 30 i 50 m (w komorze hiperbarycznej WIML) z udziałem 20 ochotników, mężczyzn. Analizowano ruchy skokowe gałki ocznej (okulograf) oraz wyniki aparaturowego testu koordynacji wzrokowo-ruchowej. Stwierdzono, że w obu badanych warunkach zanurzenia dochodzi do upośledzenia procesu świadomego przekazywania informacji wzrokowej. Analiza skokowych ruchów gałki ocznej, w oparciu o zapisy okulografu "JAZZ", może przynieść zupełnie nowe możliwości w zakresie opisu i predykcji zachowań ludzkiego organizmu, eksponowanego na wpływ nienaturalnych warunków środowiska.
This study aimed at attempting to evaluate a psychophysiological parameters during simulated diving on 30 and 50 m (in hyperbaric chamber). In 20 healthy male volunteers the parameters of eye-tracking and visual-motion co-ordination test had been analyzed. The obtained results indicates deprived conscious visual information process in both profile of hiperbaric exposition.

Opis:
Resuscytacja jest zbiorem metod mających na celu zahamowanie i odwrócenie procesu umierania. Przywrócenie krążenia krwi odbywa się poprzez zewnętrzny masaż serca. Polega on na rytmicznym uciskaniu ściany klatki piersiowej. Źle zlokalizowana, lub zbyt duża siła nacisku może spowodować złamanie żeber, co w konsekwencji prowadzić może do uszkodzenia narządów wewnętrznych. W pracy podjęto próbę analizy stanu naprężeń klatki piersiowej, podczas masażu serca, dla pacjenta z lejkowatą klatką piersiową.
Resuscitation is a set of methods to curb and reverse the dying process. Restoration of blood circulation is done by external cardiac massage. It consists of applying rhythmic pressure to the chest wall. However, if poorly located, or used with too much force, it can cause the fracture of ribs, which in turn can lead to damage to internal organs. The paper attempts to analyze the stress state of the chest during chest compressions for a patient with a funnel chest.

This preliminary study examines the potential effects of diagenetic processes on the oxygen-isotope ratios of bone and tooth phosphate (δ18O) from skeletal material of individuals representing the Corded Ware Culture (2500–2400 BC) discovered in Malżyce (Southern Poland). Intra-individual variability of Ca/P, CI, C/P, collagen content (%) and oxygen isotopes was observed through analysis of enamel, dentin and postcranial bones. Using a variety of analytical techniques, it was found that, despite the lack of differences in soil acidity, not all the parts of a skeleton on a given site had been equally exposed to diagenetic post mortem changes. In a few cases, qualitative changes in the FTIR spectrum of analysed bones were observed. The data suggest that apart from quantitative analyses, i.e., the calculation of Ca/P, CI, C/P and collagen content, qualitative analyses such as examination of the absorbance line are recommended. The degree to which a sample is, contaminated on the basis of any additional, non-biogenic peaks, deemed to be contaminated should also be specified.
