A dominating set S of a graph G is called efficient if |N[v]∩ S| = 1 for every vertex v ∈ V(G). That is, a dominating set S is efficient if and only if every vertex is dominated exactly once. In this paper, we investigate efficient multiple domination. There are several types of multiple domination defined in the literature: k-tuple domination, {k}-domination, and k-domination. We investigate efficient versions of the first two as well as a new type of multiple domination.

Opis:
Applications of singularity theory give rise to many questions concerning deformations of singularities. Unfortunately, satisfactory answers are known only for simple singularities and partially for unimodal ones. The aim of this paper is to give some insight into decompositions of multi-modal singularities with unimodal leading part. We investigate the $J_{k,0}$ singularities which have modality k - 1 but the quasihomogeneous part of their normal form only depends on one modulus.

In the article “Latin language in the world created by J.K. Rowling” we discuss the spells derived from the Latin language, which were created by J.K. Rowling in the series of books about Harry Potter. Linguistic analysis of spells has shown that incantation formulas derived from Latin constitute the vast majority of all spells. The power of a spell always comes from its etymology. However, it is impossible to indicate the rules according to which the novelist created the formulas of spells. Some recurring features of the linguistic transformations can be discerned. Noted qualities of Rowling’s language include the variety and free use of Latin as a vocabulary base for spells.

It is well known that the versal deformations of nonsimple singularities depend on moduli. The first step in deeper understanding of this phenomenon is to determine the versal discriminant, which roughly speaking is an obstacle to analytic triviality of an unfolding or deformation along the moduli. The versal discriminant of the Pham singularity ($J_{3,0}$ in Arnold's classification) was thoroughly investigated by J. Damon and A. Galligo [2], [3], [4]. The goal of this paper is to continue their work and to describe the versal discriminant of a general $J_{k,0}$ singularity.

W niniejszym artykule omówiony jest problem ewentualnych zagrożeń duchowych wywołanych wśród dzieci i młodzieży na skutek czytania i zainteresowania się serią powieści o Harry’m Potterze J.K. Rowling. Zostają przytoczone argumenty za i przeciw powieści o młodym czarodzieju z Hogwartu. Przeciwnikami omawianego dzieła, których opinie znajdują się w artykule, są demonolog Aleksander Posacki, niemiecka pisarka Gabriele Kuby, włoski egzorcysta Gabriele Amorth i inni. Natomiast autorami wyrażającymi się pozytywnie o sadze o Harry’m Potterze” są m.in. publicysta watykańskiego dziennika „L’Osservatore Romano” Antonio Carriero, włoski filozof Rocco Buttiglione, siostra zakonna Edyta Pielas i inni. Przytoczone argumenty przeciwko omawianemu dziełu Rowling to m.in. wprowadzanie dzieci i młodzieży w świat okultystyczny oraz relatywizowanie dobra i zła. Do pozytywnych aspektów powieści Rowling zostały zaliczone m.in. ukazanie wartości uniwersalnych, takich jak przyjaźń i miłość oraz nawiązanie do symboli chrześcijańskich. Autorka artykułu stoi na stanowisku zdroworozsądkowego podejścia do omawianego tematu oraz aby nie demonizować przesadnie treści tej powieści. W celu uniknięcia ewentualnych rozterek rodziców, wychowawców i katechetów, zatroskanych o duchowe dobro ich podopiecznych, proponuje autorka inne pozycje książkowe, zgodne z chrześcijańską wizją świata.
This article discusses the problem of possible spiritual threats caused in children and teenagers by reading and taking interest in the Harry Potter novel series by J.K. Rowling. There are brought forth arguments for and against the novel about a young wizard of Hogwart. The opponents of the discussed work, whose opinions are included in this article, are the demonologist Aleksander Posacki, the German writer Gabriele Kuby, the Italian exorcist Gabriele Amorth and others. However, the authors expressing positive opinions about Harry Potter are among others the journalist of Vatican journal „L’Osservatore Romano” Antonio Carriero, the Italian philosopher Rocco Buttiglione, the nun Edyta Pielas and others. The mentioned arguments against the work in question include among others introducing children and teenagers into the occult world and relativisation of the good and evil. Among the positive aspects of the novel by Rowling are included among others showing universal values, such as friendship and love, and the references to the Christian symbols. The author of this article represents the common sense approach to the discussed issue and suggests not demonizing this novel too much. To avoid any possible doubts of parents, educators, and catechists, concerned about spiritual welfare of their wards, the author suggests other books, being in accord with the Christian vision of the world.

It is well known that versal deformations of nonsimple singularities depend on moduli. However they can be topologically trivial along some or all of them. The first step in the investigation of this phenomenon is to determine the versal discriminant (unstable locus), which roughly speaking is the obstacle to analytic triviality. The next one is to construct continuous liftable vector fields smooth far from the versal discriminant and to integrate them. In this paper we extend the results of J. Damon and A. Galligo, concerning the case of the Pham singularity ($J_{3,0}$ in Arnold's classification) (see [2, 3, 4]), and deal with deformations of general $J_{k,0}$ singularities.

This is an account of finds of stratigraphically useful calcareous nannofossils and the magnetostratigraphy of the Jurassic-Cretaceous boundary interval of the eastern Crimean peninsula (southern Ukraine). We compare these new complementary results with those presented by our team in earlier publications. A missing interval in the Crimean sequence is filled, and the position of the Tithonian-Berriasian (J/K) boundary is confirmed.

The paper portrays various aspects of Otherness included in the Harry Potter cycle by J.K. Rowling, focusing on the villain – Lord Voldermort. By Otherness of the character, the author of the report means the interference of the forces triggered by him that disturbs the established order in the presented world. The character’s predisposition, deeds and goals pose a threat to two planes which he contacts with: magical and non-magical ones. He combines features that are known and unknown to the others: he is and is not a human being at the same time. Additionally, the paper depicts the villain’s Otherness which has a dynamic nature. Over the course of the plot, the figure undergoes A metamorphosis and evolves in his Otherness which is built upon three basic spheres concerning the name, the body, and the soul. This is particularly noticeable in the aspect of his life and passing. In order to avoid death, which frightens him, he decides to split his soul into several parts (Horcruxes). This is meant to ensure his immortality. As a result, his soul as well as his material body is destroyed. However, he does not die ultimately. Although Voldermort remains in the world of the living, he is neither a human being nor a spirit. The conception of the villain’s soul indicates its independence from the flesh. After his downfall Voldermort enters other beings’ bodies to be his temporal Horcruxes. Using their obedience, he manipulates them to regain his lost power and body. All in all, it is character’s inability to love that ultimately proves his state of Otherness.
Artykuł przedstawia różnorodne aspekty Inności zawarte w cyklu powieści Harry Potter, skupiając się na czarnym charakterze – Lordzie Voldemorcie. Pisząc o Inności bohatera, autorka tekstu ma na myśli interferencję uruchomionych przez niego sił, które zakłócają ustalony w przedstawionym świecie porządek. Skłonności, czyny oraz cele postaci stanowią zagrożenie dla dwóch płaszczyzn, z którymi ma styczność – magiczną i nie-magiczną. Łączy w sobie cechy, które są znane i obce innym: jednocześnie jest i nie jest istotą ludzką. Ponadto artykuł przedstawia dynamiczną naturę Inności czarnego charakteru. Wraz z rozwojem wydarzeń postać przechodzi metamorfozę i ewoluuje w swojej Inności ukształtowanej w obrębie trzech podstawowych sfer dotyczących imienia, ciała i duszy. Jest to szczególnie dostrzegalne w aspekcie jego życia i umierania. By uniknąć przerażającej go śmierci, bohater decyduje się rozszczepić duszę na kilka części (Horkruksy). Zabieg ten ma na celu zapewnienie mu nieśmiertelności. W efekcie zarówno jego dusza, jak i ciało zostają zniszczone. Niemniej jednak, nie umiera on całkowicie. Mimo że Voldemort pozostaje obecny w świecie żywych, nie jest ani człowiekiem, ani duchem. Koncepcja duszy czarnego charakteru wskazuje na jej niezależność od ciała. Po swoim upadku Voldemort wstępuje w ciała innych osobników, które są jego przejściowymi Horkruksami. Wykorzystując ich posłuszeństwo, manipuluje nimi, by odzyskać swoją utraconą siłę i ciało. Ogólnie rzecz ujmując: to nieumiejętność kochania dowodzi jego Inności.

The aim of the paper is to answer the question what was the Andrzej Polkowski’s intent of using domestication and foreignisation strategies in indigenous Harry Potter series translation. Selected fragments of the novel are referring to the widely understood ‘food’ category and are compared in terms of language and culture. It is known that the Polish translator extends (but does he always domesticate?) the world presented in the novel to the reader’s country. However, it is really ambigious, how these extensions affect the interpretation of Polish recipient.

W artykule polemizuję ze stanowiącym osnowę publikacji Alexandra Prussa One Body zasadniczym założeniem, że małżeństwo jest ściśle związane z miłością, w tym z miłością romantyczną. To założenie, jak argumentuję, wypływa po części z wyraźnie współczesnego rozumienia małżeństwa. Pokazuję, że w tym względzie stanowisko Prussa kłóci się z poglądem na małżeństwo i praktyką małżeńską z czasów przednowoczesnych, w szczególności z ujęciem chrześcijańskim okresu Cesarstwa Bizantyńskiego, gdy małżeństwo nie opierało się na miłości (romantycznej). Wreszcie podaję pewne przykłady, które pokazują, dlaczego w średniowiecznej kulturze chrześcijańskiej romantyczna miłość nie była związana z instytucją małżeństwa.
This paper contests an important assumption guiding Alexander Pruss’ One Body, that marriage is intimately connected with love, including romantic love. This assumption, I argue, is the product in part of a distinctively modern understanding of marriage. To show this, Pruss’ position is set against the premodern, and in particular the Byzantine Christian, view and practice of marriage, where marriage was not grounded to any significant extent on (romantic) love. Finally, some indication is provided as to why romantic love was disassociated from marriage in medieval Christian culture.

Artykuł omawia sposoby przekładu jednostek onomastycznych na języki polski i rosyjski na materiale powieści J. K. Rowling o Harrym Potterze. W onomastycznej przestrzeni powieści wyodrębniono 809 jednostek onomastycznych, które zostały zbadane z punktu widzenia onomastyki i przekładoznawstwa oraz podzielone na grupy onymów: antroponimy, zoonimy, toponimy, ergonimy, chrematonimy, porejonimy, pragmatonimy, ideonimy. Dla każdej grupy przeanalizowane zostały sposoby tłumaczenia stosowane przez polskiego i rosyjskich tłumaczy oraz wyróżnione najczęściej występujące sposoby tłumaczenia. W wyniku przeprowadzonego badania została opracowana nowa klasyfikacja sposobów tłumaczenia jednostek onomastycznych.
This article analyses the methods of translating the onomastic realities in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter novels into Polish and Russian. 809 realities were singled out and were analysed from the point of view of onomastics and translation studies. They were divided into groups of onyms: anthroponyms, zoonyms, toponyms, ergonyms, chrematonyms, poreyonyms, pragmatonyms, ideonyms. For each group the translation methods used by Polish and Russian translators were analysed and the most frequent translation methods were highlighted. As a result of the study, a new classification of methods for translating onomastic realities was developed.
