Herein, the photocatalytic degradation of the Congo Red (CR) and Crystal Violet (CV) dyes in an aqueous solution were discussed in the presence of an indium(III) oxide (In2O3) as optical catalyst efficiency. The caproate bidentate indium(III) precursor complex has been synthesized and well interpreted by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), UV-Vis, and thermogravimetric (TGA) with its differential thermogravimetric (DTG) studies. The microanalytical and spectroscopic assignments suggested that the associated of mononuclear complex with 1:3 molar ratio (M3+:ligand). Octahedral structure is speculated for this parent complex of the caproate anion, CH3(CH2)4COO ligand. The In2O3  NPs with nanoscale range within 10–20 nm was synthesized by a simple, low cost and eco-friendly method using indium(III) caproate complex. Indium oxide nanoparticles were formed after calcination of precursor in static air at 600°C for 3 hrs. The structural, grain size, morphological and decolorization efficiency of the synthesized NPs were characterized using the FT-IR, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analyses. It was worthy mentioned that the prepared In2O3  NPs showed a good photodegradation properties against CR and CV organic dyes during 90 min.

Opis:
The article presents the method of magnetron sputtering for the deposition of conductive emitter coatings in semiconductor structures. The layers were applied to a silicon substrate. For optical investigations, borosilicate glasses were used. The obtained layers were subjected to both optical and electrical characterisation, as well as structural investigations. The layers on silicon substrates were tested with the four-point probe to find the dependence of resistivity on the layer thickness. The analysis of the elemental composition of the layer was conducted using a scanning electron microscope equipped with an EDS system. The morphology of the layers was examined with the atomic force microscope (AFM) of the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the structures with the use of X-ray diffraction (XRD). The thickness of the manufactured layers was estimated by ellipsometry. The composition was controlled by selecting the target and the conditions of the application, i.e. the composition of the plasma atmosphere and the power of the magnetrons. Based on the obtained results, this article aims to investigate the influence of the manufacturing method and the selected process parameter on the optical properties of thin films, which should be characterised by the highest possible value of the transmission coefficient (>85–90%) and high electrical conductivity.

Ceramic - metal composites are widely used materials in a whole world. There were invented many fabrication methods for those kind of materials, but still exists some problems which need to be fixed. Stability of high density metal particles (e.g. W, Mo, Nb) in ceramic-metal composite suspensions is one of crucial issues to be solved in order to obtain homogenous composite material with desired properties such as high fracture toughness, mechanical strength, hardness, wear resistance. In this paper, results of two different methods of stabilizing W particles in Al2O3 - W - H2O system were compared. The zeta potential by laser doppler electrophoresis, stability by static multiple light scattering and rheological behavior of prepared suspensions were analyzed. As a result application of hetero-flocculation effect was consider as a good way to obtain homogeneous dispersion of metal particles with a high density.

This paper studies hydrodynamic and heat transfer performance of Al2O3/H2O nanofluid flowing through a Bessel-like converging pipe in laminar flow regime using the computational fluid dynamic approach. A parametric study was carried out on the effect of Reynolds number (300– 1200), convergence index (0-3) and nanoparticle concentration (0–3%) on the both hydrodynamic and thermal fields. The results showed the pressure drop profile along the axial length of the converging pipes is parabolic compared to the downward straight profile obtained in a straight pipe. Furthermore, an increase in convergence index, Reynolds number and nanoparticle concentration were found to enhance convective heat transfer performance. Also, a new empirical model was developed to estimates the average Nusselt number as a function of aforementioned variables. Finally, the result of the thermohydraulic performance evaluation criterion showed that the usage of Bessel-like converging pipes is advantageous at a low Reynolds number.

Przeświecalna ceramika Al2O3 jest pożądanym materiałem z uwagi na swoje właściwości porównywalne z szafirem. Charakteryzuje się wysoką odpornością na zużycie, wysoką stabilnością chemiczną i doskonałą odpornością na korozję. Głównymi obszarami jej zastosowań są: wysokotemperaturowe wizjery, drobne elementy opancerzenia, detektory podczerwieni oraz koperty emiterów podczerwieni. Do wytwarzania transparentnej ceramiki stosowane są techniki HP, SPS i HIP. W niniejszej pracy materiały otrzymano z zastosowaniem technologii U-FAST (ang. Upgraded-Field Assisted Sintering Technology), jednego z najnowocześniejszych rozwiązań na rynku urządzeń do spiekania. Jest to efektywna i energooszczędna technologia przeznaczona do konsolidacji materiałów proszkowych, w tym nanokrystalicznych. Procesy spiekania przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem handlowego proszku tlenku glinu, bez użycia dodatków. Zbadano wpływ parametrów procesu na mikrostrukturę i stopień zagęszczenia uzyskanych spieków, jak również na transmisję w zakresie światła widzialnego.
Transparent Al2O3 ceramics arouses of great interest due to its properties comparable to sapphire. Alumina is characterized by high wear-resistance, high chemical stability, excellent corrosion resistance. The main areas of its applications are high-temperature light transmitting materials, small armor protection, infrared detectors, IR emitters envelopes. For the production of transparent ceramics, HP and SPS and HIP techniques are used. In this paper, the materials were made using the U-FAST technology (Upgraded-Field Assisted Sintering Technology), one of the most modern solutions on the market of sintering devices. It is an effective and energy-saving technology dedicated to consolidation of powder materials, including nanocrystalline materials. The sintering processes were carried out using commercial alumina powder without the use of additives. The influence of sintering parameters on the microstructure and density of the obtained sinters, as well as on transmittance in visible range were studied.

By considering weaker magnetic interactions (including spin-spin and spin-other-orbit interactions) in Hamiltonian, the spin-Hamiltonian parameters, including the zero-field splitting parameter D and g factors $(g_∥, g_⊥)$ for $3d^{2(8)}$ ions in $Al_2O_3$ crystals have been investigated. The results show that the contributions to D, $g_∥$ and $g_⊥$ from the spin-orbit interaction are dominant. The contributions from weaker magnetic interactions to D decrease (increase) with increasing charge of impurity ions for $3d^2 (3d^8)$ ions.

Opis:
Anisotropy of voltage noise in $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-δ}$ thin films was investigated using (103)/(013) oriented films. Normalized noise in the normal state does not depend on the direction of current flow, while in the superconducting state the noise is anisotropic. The difference stems from different origins of noise. Normal state noise is due to random motion of charge carriers while in the superconducting state it arises from fluctuations of density and/or velocity of flux vortices.

In this paper we present the resistivity data for Pr and Zn codoped compound $Y_{1-x}Pr_xBa_2[Cu_{1- y}Zn_y]_3O_{7-δ}$ with 0 & y & 0.1 and x=0.0, 0.1 and 0.2. The data is analysed in terms of the superconducting critical temperature $T_c$, residual resistivity $ρ_0$ and the resistivity slope dρ/dT corresponding to the linear ρ-T region. It is found that for x=0.1 Pr has a minimal influence on the in-plane processes for Zn impurity alone affecting slightly $T_c$ and $ρ_0$. The slope dρ/dT becomes larger for 0.03 & y & 0.06 leading to larger depining effect and hence slower fall of $T_c$ as a function of y. For x = 0.2 there is a drastic change, $ρ_0$ becomes abnormally large, dρ/dT becomes negative implying absence of depinning and a totally pinned charge stripes. Superconductivity vanishes at y=0.03. It is concluded that for x = 0.2 Pr converts the system from overdoped to underdoped region leading to the universal superconductor-insulator transition.

The isothermal section of the phase diagram of the $BaO-Tb_2 O_{3+δ}-CuO$ system at 1173 K was constructed based on X-ray powder diffraction data. The existence of the compounds BaTbO₃ (SrZrO₃ structure type, I4/mcm, a = 0.6034(1), c = 0.8576(1) nm) and Ba₄₄Cu₄₅O₉₀ (own structure type, Im-3m, a =1.8266(3) nm) was confirmed in the binary BaO-Tb₂O₃ and BaO-CuO systems, respectively, but no ternary oxides were found. The investigation of samples with nominal composition $A_{0.5}Tb_{0.5}TO_3$ (A = Ca, Sr or Ba, T = Ni or Zn) showed the presence of phases from the corresponding binary systems, or unreacted reagents.

Pressure effect on the critical temperature, $T_{c}$, of the $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ superconductor was considered in the frame of a simple theoretical model which as a starting point assumes that $T_{c}$ vs. pressure, P, dependence can be described by an inverted parabola. Available experimental results on $T_{c}$ behavior under pressure were analyzed as a function of the zero pressure hole concentration in the superconducting $CuO_2$ planes, $n_{h}(P = 0 GPa) = n_{h0}$, for different constant values of P. Maximum $T_{c}$ that can be achieved under pressure was estimated and discussed in relation to the $n_{h0} = 1//8$ doping and establishment of charge and spin order. The results obtained here were used to estimate increase of the hole concentration in the $CuO_2$ planes which occurs as a result of pressure induced oxygen reordering.

Praca dotyczy analizy rozpuszczalności kryształów Y3Al5O12 (YAG) w stopionej mieszaninie PbO-B2O3. Analizę przeprowadzono wykorzystując przedstawiony przez van Erk'a model, w którym założono, że rozpuszczona faza granatu tworzy z rozpuszczalnikiem PbO-B2O3 ciecz jonową. Określono zależności między iloczynem rozpuszczalności YAG bez domieszek oraz domieszkowanego jonami ziem rzadkich i galu a temperaturą nasycenia roztworu wysokotemperaturowego, z którego zachodziła epitaksja warstw YAG. Z wyznaczonych doświadczalnie zależności określono wartość entalpii rozpuszczania kryształów YAG.
This work is devoted to the analysis of the solubility of Y3Al5O12 crystals in a molten mixture of PbO-B2O3. The analysis was performed using the model proposed by Van Erk, which assumed that the dissolved garnet phase formed an ionic fluid with PbO-B2O3. The relation between the solubility product of YAG substituted by rare earth or gallium ions and non-substituted YAG and the saturation temperature of a high-temperature solution suitable for the epitaxial growth of YAG layers was determined. The value of the solution enthalpy of the YAG phase was estimated from this empirical relation.

The structure of YBa2Cu3O7 crystal has been studied with the aid of molecular-dynamics (MD) technique. A two-body model potentials proposed by Zhang and Catlow have been used in MD simulations performed in wide range of temperature. The temperature-induced orthorhombic-to-tetragonal phase transition is observed. The distruction of the arrangement of atoms in the CuO chains due to diffusion of oxygen atoms is observed. The diffusion coefficients are calculated, and their variation as a function of temperature is analysed. The activation energy is estimated.

The aim of research was the elaboration of the synthesis of new organic monomer applicable in gelcasting. The substance named 3,4-di-acryloyl-D-mannitol which contains two acryloyl groups and four hydroxyl groups in its molecule has been synthesized. The monomer has been then applied in the preparation of Al2O3-ZrO2 composites by gelcasting and subsequent sintering. Rheological properties of ceramic suspensions have been examined, as well as the properties of green and sintered bodies. SEM observations allowed to determine the distribution of zirconia grains in alumina matrix. Density, Vickers hardness and fracture toughness of ZTA composites have been measured. The new monomer, that is diacryloyl derivative of mannitol, is less sensitive to the oxygen inhibition than commonly used in gelcasting and commercially available 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate.

The local structure, two optical band positions and three electronic spin resonance parameters for $Cu^{2+}$ centers at the tetragonally-distorted octahedral sites in $ZnO-Bi_2O_3-B_2O_3-CuO$ glasses are calculated from the high-order perturbation method based on the two-spin-orbit-parameter model, where the contributions from both the spin-orbit coupling parameters of central $d^{n}$ ion and ligand ion are included. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental values. The calculations show that the high-order perturbation method based on the two-spin-orbit-parameter model is effective in the explanations of optical spectra, electronic spin resonance parameters and local distortion structure for $d^{9}$ ions in glasses.
