Opis:
Motivated by the central limit problem for algebraic probability spaces arising from the Haagerup states on the free group with countably infinite generators, we introduce a new notion of statistical independence in terms of inequalities rather than of usual algebraic identities. In the case of the Haagerup states the role of the Gaussian law is played by the Ullman distribution. The limit process is realized explicitly on the finite temperature Boltzmannian Fock space. Furthermore, a functional central limit theorem associated with the Haagerup states is proved and the limit white noise is investigated.

Opis:
We have been studying the high-precision three-dimensional measurement system using cameras. In this paper, our system is verified, and its application is reported. The principle of our measurement system is based on the stereo measurement. In our system, reducing the quantization error by numerical processing can realize the highprecision 3D measurement at the long distance. This measurement system has many applications, such as industrial use, ITS, robotics, and many others. Our system has been applied on the observation of the glacier. The Perito Moreno glacier, which is our target, moves very fast and the moving speed is reported as about 2 m/day. Then, it is thought that the important information about the global warming can be obtained by observing this glacier. But, as the width of the glacier is several km, there were no reports of continuously observing the movement of the glacier in high accuracy. As a result, the unique observation results about the daily movement of the glacier were measured. The observation of the glacier flow was carried out for the third straight year. In this paper, the valuable results of the glacier observation and experimental results to verify the precision are discussed.

Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) recognizes the importance of collaborative projects with Universities and how it contributes to technological development effectively. In spite of the world economical depression, several projects could get started this year leaded by SMC. As a researcher of SMC, Author takes charge of two collaborative projects and introduces these as typical examples of the most successful collaborations. The first is, "3D Measurement System for Crash Tested Car" at Shizuoka University (Japan) and Budapest Tech Polytechnical Institute (Hungary) from 2008; the second is, "High-Accuracy Stereo Vision System Based on Phase-Only Correlation (POC) and Its Application to metal Component Inspection" with Tohoku Univ. (Japan) 2003-2005. By these collaborations, the profound knowledge of universities has a lot of possibility to suits the technical needs of SMC.

This paper contains constructions of some non-measurable sets, based on classical Vitali’s and Bernstein’s constructions (see for example [6]). This constructions probably belong to mathematical folklore, but as far as we know they are rather hard to be found in literature. It seems that the constructed sets can be used as examples in some interesting situations.

Opis:
The high antioxidant activity of astaxanthin has been attracted considerable attention in these days. One of the major antioxidant activities of this carotenoid is anti-photoaging. We have been focusing our attention on this particular issue. The anti-photoaging activity should be functioning in inner skin. In this study we tried to find out the fact that astaxanthin that has been swabbed on the outer surface of the skin has really passed through and reached to the inner skin. For this purpose resonance Raman microscopy was applied to the rat skin sample on which astaxanthin was swabbed on its outer surface. Astaxanthin gives rise to a unique Raman spectrum that is characteristic of its molecular structure. Therefore, we can easily identify the presence or absence of astaxanthin in the area of the rat skin that is subjected to this spectroscopic measurement. We used 532 nm laser light for probing the resonance Raman scattering of astaxanthin. Astaxanthin shows three strong Raman lines at 1508, 1145, and 993 cm-1. These three lines are ascribable to the C=C stretching, C-C stretching, and C-CH3 in-plane rocking vibrational modes, respectively. We have constructed confocal Raman microscope that has the spatial resolution of ca. 500 nm. Three-dimensional mapping of the Raman spectrum of astaxanthin has been performed in order to determine its distribution in the rat skin.

Opis:
In order to realize a system that supports human actions timely, the system must have a certain model of human actions. Therefore, we propose a modeling method of human actions. In this method, it is supposed that a person changes his action according to the situation around him, and the causality between the situation around a person and the change of a human action is modeled. This causality is expressed by an If-then-Rule style where a human action and the situation around a human are expressed by a discrete event and time series data respectively. Moreover, as the necessary function for human support systems, an estimation method of the next human action and its execution timing is consisted based on the proposed modeling method. The usefulness of the proposed modeling and estimation methods is examined through the estimation experiment of next human action and its execution timing with a radio-controlled vehicle.

Vibrational dynamics of the excited state in the light-harvesting complex (LH1) have been investigated by femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy (FSRS). The native and reconstituted LH1 complexes have same dynamics. The ν1 (C=C stretching) vibrational mode of spirilloxanthin in LH1 shows ultrafast high-frequency shift in the S1 excited state with a time constant of 0.3 ps. It is assigned to the vibrational relaxation of the S1 state following the internal conversion from the photoexcited S2 state.

Do budowy modelu klasyfikacji wykorzystano indukcję drzew decyzji. Wyniki testów pokazały, iż zaproponowana metoda może stanowić punkt wyjścia do budowy systemu wspomagającego lekarza w procesie diagnozy.
The article presents a method for classification of ultrasound thyroid images. This method allows to classify the analyzed cases as sick and healthy. It also allows to separate fairly large group of incorrectly classified cases. According to the authors, this group may include characteristics of the early stage of Hashimoto's disease. Decision tree induction has been used to build a classification model. Test results showed that the proposed method can provide a starting point to build a support system in the process of medical diagnosis.

Opis:
Reconstituted LH1 complexes were prepared using the LH1 subunit-type complexes, isolated from the purple photosynthetic bacterium Rhodospirillum (Rs.) rubrum, and purified all-trans spirilloxanthin. Stark absorption spectra of spirilloxanthin bound to both the native and reconstituted LH1 complexes were compared in different polarization angles (χ) against the external electric field. From the polarization angle dependence of the Stark absorption spectra, two angles were determined in reference to the direction of transition dipole moment (m) of spirilloxanthin: one is the change in polarizability upon photoexcitation (Δα), θΔα and the other is the change in static dipole moment upon photoexcitation (Δμ), θΔμ. Despite the symmetric molecular structure of all-trans spirilloxanthin, its Stark absorption spectra show pronounced values of Δμ. This large Δμ values essentially caused by the effect of induced dipole moment through Δα both in the cases for native and reconstituted LH1 complexes. However, slightly different values of θΔα and θΔμ observed for the native LH1 complex suggest that spirilloxanthin is asymmetrically distorted when bound to the native LH1 complex and gives rise to intrinsic Δμ value.
