Opis:
The problem of constructing mathematical model for short-term fore-casting of GDP is considered. First, extended autoregression is constru-cted that takes two additional independent variables into consideration. The model resulted provides a possibility for generating short-term forecasts of GDP though not of high quality. Another model was constructed in the form of a Bayesian network. The model turned out to be better than the multiple regression, it provides quite good estimates for probabilities of GDP growth direction.

Opis:
The aim of the experiment presented in this paper is to assess the relationship between the height and diameter increase rate and the thermal conditions and precipitation during its growth. The experiment was carried out in the Agro- and Hydrometeorology Observatory of the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences in 2013–2015. The height and diameter measurement was made each time on the same 43 plants, randomly selected at the stage of setting up the experiment in 2012 and specially marked. Plants included in further analyses were divided into 5 classes and the classification criterion was their height in the 3rd year of cultivation. Initially, an analysis of relationships of selected morphological parameters of Scots pine was carried out, i.e. of the heights and diameters against the changing weather conditions, i.e. precipitations and air temperatures. Subsequently, an effect of the thermal conditions and the amount of precipitation on growth of Scots pine was assessed with the use of the two meteorological parameters mentioned above. These parameters were used as their accumulated sums, calculated as of the dates of biometric measurements, made at the end of each month (the last ten days of a month) in the summer half-year period. Multiple regression analysis was applied to evaluate the effect of thermal conditions and precipitation on the growth of Scots pine in both variants and the significance of the relationships under study was examined with the use of an adjusted coefficient of determination R2. The analyses and calculations indicate a close significant relationship between the height of pine trees and their diameter at the base on any measurement date. Analyses of different measurement periods indicated a decrease in significance of the relationships between the height of pine trees and their diameter at the base. A decrease in these relationships is becoming more and more pronounced with the age of the trees. Of the two weather parameters, i.e. total air temperature and total precipitation, the precipitation dominates in the relationship with the trees height and air temperature – with the trees diameter.

We prove Fujita-type global existence and nonexistence theorems for a system of m equations (m > 1) with different diffusion coefficients, i.e. $u_{it} - d_{i} Δu_{i} = \prod_{k=1}^m u_{k}^{p_k^i}, i=1,...,m, x ∈ ℝ^{N}, t > 0,$ with nonnegative, bounded, continuous initial values and $p_{k}^{i} ≥ 0$, $i,k = 1,...,m$, $d_i > 0$, $i = 1,...,m$. For solutions which blow up at $t = T <≤ ∞$, we derive the following bounds on the blow up rate: $u_i(x,t) ≤ C(T - t)^{-α_{i}}$ with C > 0 and $α_i$ defined in terms of $p_k^i$.

Największą szerokość klatki piersiowej w całym okresie badań miały gołębie rasy king, a długość mostka – gołębie rasy strasser.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the body weight gain and the two related parameters in pigeons from the 7th day post hatching to the 24th month of life. The experiment was carried on meat-type breeds (King, Strasser, Wrocławski meat) and on Homing pigeon. A total of 200 birds (50 individuals per breed) were examined. The birds were weighed and measured at day 7, 14, 28 and 3, 6, 12, and 24 months of life. The obtained results showed that during the analyzed period the King breed was characterized by the highest body weight, while the Homing pigeon by the lowest one, what can result from different breeding goals. The biggest thorax width was stated in King breed and the longest crest of the bridge was found in Strasser pigeons.

Further, bounds for the case of rigid boundaries are also derived separately.

Growth rate and age structure of Ae. epipedostoma (Fagot) were studied based on monthly samples from a population in Muszkowice (SW. Poland). The life cycle is probably a three-year cycle: juveniles hatch from July till September, and winter over at a size of 2.6–3.5 whorls. The growth rate is ca. 0.5 whorl/month. In their second season, the snails resume growth in spring to reach 4 whorls in May-July; they reproduce in the same season and at least some of them winter over again.

Opis:
The microincrements of nine Middle Jurassic mesohibolitid belemnite rostra (Hibolithes jurensis, Pachybelemnopsis fusiformis and Pachybelemnopsis “subhastatus”) were analysed to measure the ontogenic age and growth rate of the belemnites. The microincrements are interpreted to have been formed daily based on analogy with extant coleoid cephalopods and the frequency of circadian rhythms in animal activity. The mesohibolitid belemnites are found to have had a short life span of ca. 1 year. The short life span of the belemnites studied is similar to the life span of modern coleoids (squids, cuttlefishes and common octopuses). It restricts the utility of belemnite rostra as a proxy for average secular seawater temperatures and chemistry. Short-lived cycles (2–8 days) in the belemnite growth rate are linked to variations in the metabolic activity of these animals. Minor diagenetic alteration revealed by the dull cathodoluminescence of some rostra is found to have no effect on the preservation of the growth rings.

Opis:
Rawapening Lake is one of Indonesia’s national priority lakes that is experiencing environmental problems which are urgently required to be solved due to its functions. The decline in the environmental quality of Rawapening Lake includes sedimentation, water pollution and excess of nutrients, especially Phosphorus (P) and Nitrogen (N) into the lake that induced uncontrolled growth of aquatic plants, one of which is water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms). Many activities had been done to reduce the covering of water hyacinth in Rawapening Lake that tends to increase by the time, but no significant result has been achieved. Therefore, this research was conducted in order to study the growth rate of water hyacinth with mesocosm in Rawapening Lake as a baseline to develop suitable management. There were three different sites, namely: Site I in the floating net cage area (FNCA), Rowoboni Village, Site II in the natural area of Bejalen Village which is far from the aquaculture sites, and Site III in the upper reaches of the Tuntang river, Asinan Village. The research was performed in November-December 2019 with the measurements of growth rate, addition number clump and water hyacinth covering every week. The experiment was conducted in the 1 x 1 meter mesocosm, with three replication in every site. In every mesocosm water hyacinth with similar initial weight of 160 grams and number of leaves 6-7 strands were grown in the mesocosm. On day 7 (H7) the average wet weight of water hyacinth increased by 201%. In the fourth week (H28) the average wet weight of water hyacinth increased by 788% compared to the initial weight when planted. The highest relative growth rate (RGR) value of water hyacinth was at site III (7.26%/ day), followed by Site I (7.03%/day), and Site II (6.40%/day), respectively. The doubling time (DT) value of water hyacinth at the site I was 9.9 day, site II – 10.8 day, and site III – 9.6 day. One clump of water hyacinth weighing 160 grams was able to cover 1 m2 of mesocosm within 21 days. On the basis of these results, to manage water hyacinth blooms one has to consider its growth rate.

This work presents biological information for polar cod (Boreogadus saida) collected with a Campelen 1800 shrimp bottom trawl in Kongsfjorden (two stations located in the inner part of the fjord adjacent to the glacier) and Rijpfjorden (one station at the entrance to the fjord) in September and October 2013. The otolith-based ages of polar cod collected in Kongsfjorden (6.1–24 cm total length TL; n = 813) ranged from 0 to 4 years. The growth rate was relatively constant at approximately 4.7 cm year−1 between years 1 and 4, which indicates that growth was fast in the glacier area. The ages of polar cod collected in Rijpfjorden (8.6–15.9 cm TL; n = 64) ranged from 2 to 3 years. The fish from Rijpfjorden were smaller at age than those from Kongsfjorden, and their growth rate between years 2 and 3 (no other age classes were available) was approximately 3.3 cm year−1. In both fjords, males and females were of the same size-at-age and the same weight-at-TL. The small sampling area means that the results on growth rate are not representative of the entire fjords. Instead, the results can be discussed as presenting the possible growth rates of some populations. A strong relationship was identified between otolith size (length and weight) and fish size (TL and TW), with no differences between males and females or the fjords. A significant, strong relationship was also noted between fish and otolith growth rates.
