Opis:
Phylloplane microbes have been studied as strategic tools in management against plant pathogens. Non-pathogenic bacteria and fungi have been applied as crop protectants against various plant diseases. The present study aimed at evaluating the potentiality of Aspergillus niger spores in altering the activity of four key enzymes related to defense in tomato. The experiment was designed such that two groups of 50 tomato plants were considered: group 1 – sprayed with autoclaved distilled water (control) and group 2 – sprayed with A. niger spores. Spraying was carried out under aseptic conditions. The experimental parameters included analysis of the activity of peroxidase (POX), polyphenol oxidase (PPO), phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL) and tyrosine ammonia lyase (TAL) as well as expression of POX and PPO isoforms. The results demonstrated an inductive effect of A. niger on the activity of POX, PPO, PAL and TAL. Enhanced expression of POX and PPO isoforms was also observed. The results indicated that A. niger can be considered probiotic for the management of tomato against its phytopathogens.

Opis:
The present paper puts an emphasis on the current energy market scenario and different types of barriers associated with the advancement of solar energy in a developing countries like India. Solar energy, best suited for urban environment, can be housed in a limited space and is characterized as a pollution free, environmentally friendly, as well as noise-free source of electricity. Among the available renewable energies, solar energy is considered to be an integral one, owing to its reduction in cost at an exponential rate day-by-day. The present study deals with the potential of solar energy market in the Indian subcontinent along with several other problems that it needs to overcome in order to be established as an independent system.

Opis:
We consider the coexistent id-density wave order, at the antiferromagnetic wave vector Q =(π,π), representing the pseudo-gap state, and d-wave superconductivity, driven by an assumed attractive interaction, within the BCS framework for the two-dimensional fermion system on a square lattice starting with a mean-field Hamiltonian involving the singlet id-density wave and the d-wave superconductivity pairings. The second-neighbor hopping, which is known to be important for cuprates and frustrates the kinetic energy of electrons, leads to the Fermi surface sheets being not connected by Q. The signature of the particle-hole asymmetry in the single-particle excitation spectrum of the pure id-density wave state is reflected in the coexisting id-density wave and d-wave superconductivity states, though the latter is characterized by the Bogoliubov quasi-particle bands - a characteristic feature of superconducting state. Quite significantly, we find that the coexistence is possible due to the non-nesting property.

Opis:
We consider the filling factor 5/2 fractional quantum Hall state of spin-polarized fermions in a dirty (mobility $μ_b \lt 10 m^2 V^{-1} s^{-1}$) bi-layer quantum well system. We show that the system undergoes a quantum phase transition from the effective two-component state to an effective single-component state, at fixed charge imbalance regulatory parameter $\Delta_{c}$ and constant layer separation, as the inter-layer tunneling strength $\Desta_\text{SAS}$ is increased. At finite and constant $\Delta_\text{SAS}$, a transition from the latter state to the former state is also possible upon increasing the parameter $\Delta_{c}$. We identify the order parameter to describe quantum phase transition as a pseudo-spin component and calculate this with the aid of the Matsubara propagators in the finite-temperature formalism. Our treatment is able to show that, at low temperature(< 0.1 K) and low value of charge imbalance regulatory parameter, there is a competition between the disorder and the inter-layer tunneling strength in the sample. The competition leads to the quasi-particle localization at low tunneling strength.

Opis:
Forest cover in hills is essential to maintain environmental, economic and ecological balances. North Bengal accounts for 3,086 sq km (26 %) of the 11,876 sq km area of classified forests in the state, and for nearly 5,000 sq km (40 %) of all land under tree cover. Upper Chatakpur is one of the emerging ecotourism spots of north Bengal, located at an altitude of 7887 feet in Darjeeling district. It is a 180 years old ethnic village with 19 houses and a population of about 89, and at an altitude of 7887 ft. It is about 8 km. from Sonada (26° 57' N, 88° 16' E), 22 km. from Darjeeling (26° 2' N, 88° 15' E) and 72 km. from Siliguri (26° 42' N, 88° 25' E). Upper Chatakpur Village situated within Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary, Darjeeling. The sanctuary with an area of 38.88 sq. km has an elevation of 1500-2600 m. The survey work was done in December, 2014 by visiting upper Chatakpur village and the primary data were gathered through field survey and direct contact with common people and authorized centers of the region. Surveys on the topography, demography, agriculture, livestock, water management, education, culture, health, waste management, transport, biodiversity, human animal conflict were done in this area. Medicinal plant diversity was studied in the village area and information was gathered from the local forest department centre. Information regarding the transport system was collected from the local transport office and syndicate. Census report was collected from the Sonada Panchayat Office. Health and education information was collected from the local primary school and the local sub health centre. Information on sustainable agricultural practices and waste management policies is collected through surveys in the village houses and agricultural fields. Biodiversity of Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary was documented by visiting the forest areas. Pictorial documentation was done in every phase of study. In spite of getting so much attention in the recent time, the village is not adequately developed. There is an urgent need for implementing sustainable management systems in the areas for the betterment of the socio-environmental structures. Some of the possible management strategies have been suggested for maintaining the social, environmental, economic and ecological balance of the region.
