MILLENIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS

VALUES
Opis:
The Millenium Development Goals refer mainly to the basic human needs. Those issues are important indicators of the quality of life. Theoretical foundations of the relevance of such an approach can be found in the thought of A. Sen. Efforts of mathematical modeling were also taken, yet though very useful, they also create problems.

Opis:
Purpose: This paper studies the role of the implementation of synergistic planning in manufacturing plants as a method for unifying in one system reorganization or re-planning processes. The higher quality of technological design is the more effective design of industrial plants can be. Performing the analysis of technological plans together with architectural and construction plans before construction starts enables achieving competitive advantage already at the design stage, what in consequence leads to the increase of design efficiency, costs reduction, and the improvement of cooperation within design teams. Design/methodology/approach: The emphasis is placed on the joint design data for which the correct synergistic relationships between the projects arise. The existing synergy between technological planning and facility planning makes it possible to consider re-planning as a single system. The main contribution is detailed analysis of connections between synergetic planning phases. Rational re-planning is performed according to Layout Design Methods using CAD tools and BIM technology. The former is also used in factory planning as a combined design software. In the publication, the authors present an original 8E method as a framework for synergetic planning. Findings: The paper provides an approach to synergetic planning, describes stages of synergetic design, functional and spatial scheme of the assumptions of the concept of 8E. Practical implications: Due to the Synergetic Factory Planning, it is possible to generate a solution, which enables the implementation of the project in accordance with the requirements of each design area. Originality/value: The contribution of this paper is an original OLESTR method which is based on synergistic planning and oriented towards practical aspects of planning. The OLESTR method can improve planning new industrial plants as well as redesigning existing ones.

Opis:
Nowadays, selective solid waste management in the European Union belongs to important responsibilities of municipalities. In Solid Waste Management (SWM) the main operational task is to set a schedule for solid waste collection and to find optimal routes for garbage trucks, so that the total costs of the solid waste collection service can be minimized, subject to a series of constraints which not only guarantee the fulfillment of the SWM’s obligations but also ensure the desirable quality level of that service. The optimization in garbage truck routing belongs to so called rich Vehicle Routing Problems as it aims to cover the following constraints: pickup nodes (clients) must be visited during their predefined time windows; the number and capacity of depots and specialized sorting units cannot be exceeded; each garbage truck can be assigned to at most one depot; each route should be dedicated to collecting one type of segregated solid waste, and the route must be served by a garbage truck which can collect that type of solid waste; the availability of garbage trucks and their drivers must be respected; each garbage truck must be drained at a specialized sorting unit before going back to the depot. This paper contributes a newly developed Mixed-Integer Programming (MIP) model for the Municipal Solid Waste Selective Collection Routing Problem (MSWSCRP) with time windows, limited heterogeneous fleet, and different types of segregated solid waste to be collected separately. Results obtained for solving small-sized instance of the MSWSCRP are reported.

Opis:
Due to the innovation of transport means based on hyperloop technology, the correctness of its functioning should be investigated in relation to many technical, economic and operational factors. This paper presents an analysis of the hyperloop technology from the point of view of ensuring safety of passengers while travelling in a low-pressure rail tunnel. The main subject of research was the design of hyperloop station infrastructure and the safety management system that will ensure the safety of passengers at the station in the sphere of atmospheric pressure, despite the station’s interaction with low-pressure tubes during entry and exit of the capsules. The safety management system also includes evacuation of passengers from low-pressure tubes in an emergency situation. The paper reviews the key issues of passenger safety in the hyperloop transport system, which are the source of justified and unfounded people’ fear of using this transport means despite its obvious advantages. The authors’ original achievement is the identification of critical points of passenger safety during their stay in the station area and during their journey through a low-pressure tunnel, as well as the design of a double airlock that can be used in the hyperloop tunnel at repeatable intervals with the aim of evacuating passengers to the atmospheric pressure zone. The designed solution allows to eliminate one of the significant weaknesses of the transport system using low-pressure rail.

Opis:
This paper critically assesses Business Process Management (BPM) education in Poland and provides evidence-based recommendations for improvement. Through a survey of 44 BPM educators, the study evaluates BPM lifecycle coverage, IT tool utilization, and incorporation of the Six Core Elements of BPM. The findings reveal a focus on process modeling and analysis, identifying gaps in the way the entire BPM lifecycle is addressed. Despite the utilization of various IT tools, there is a notable absence of coverage for emerging topics such as process mining, AI, and Robotic Process Automation. Only 12% of courses cover all Six Core Elements of BPM, and there is a critical gap in student education, which is the underrepresentation of the People and Culture elements. The paper concludes with a manifesto for greater alignment between academic education and industry needs through comprehensive BPM curricula, dedicated software tools, and more robust coverage of the strategic and governance aspects of BPM. This will bridge the gap between academic education and real-world BPM applications, so that graduates can be better prepared for the challenges of the modern business landscape, which can enhance the quality and effectiveness of BPM education, thereby aligning it with the evolving demands of the business environment and contributing to the growth and competitiveness of organizations in Poland.
