Opis:
CuO nanoflakes were successfully synthesized by microwave irradiation, using copper(II) sulphate and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) as the starting materials and ethanol as the solvent. The CuO nanoflakes were characterized by using techniques such as X-ray powder diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy. The synthesized CuO nanoflakes were found to have morphology like nanoflakes with narrow size distribution and high purity. Moreover, the synthesized CuO nanoflakes were used as an efficient catalyst for synthesis of a series of dihydropyridine derivatives. Optimization studies with different catalysts and solvents reveal that CuO nanoparticle in the water/ethanol mixture is efficient catalyst/solvent system for the synthesis of dihydropyridine derivative.

The paper refers to magnetic properties of the $(Fe_{80}Nb_{6}B_{14})_{1-x}Tb_{x}$ (x=0.06 and x=0.08) bulk nanocrystalline alloys prepared using the vacuum suction casting technique. The samples were in the form of rods with diameters of d=1.5 mm, 1 mm and 0.5 mm. It was shown that for the alloys with x=0.08 the significant magnetic hardening with the decrease of sample diameter was observed. For d=0.5 mm the coercive field equals 2.46 T and the maximum energy product $|JH|_{max}$=77.2 kJ/$m^{3}$.

The paper refers to phase stability of the $(Fe_{80}Nb_{6}B_{14})_{0.9}Tb_{0.1}$ bulk nanocrystalline alloys prepared using the vacuum suction casting technique. The samples were in the form of rods with diameters d=2, 1.5, 1 and 0.5 mm. Heating up to 900 K reveals structural changes that occur at temperatures above 680 K (DSC and M(T) measurements). The phase analysis, using Mössbauer spectra, indicates the decrease of $Tb_{2}Fe_{14}B$ and increase of Fe content in the samples after the heat treatment. The most stable is the alloy with d=1 mm, where the formation of α-Fe phase was not observed. The decrease of d causes significant hardening i.e. coercive field increases from 0.57 T to 2.66 T for d=2 mm and d=0.5 mm, respectively.

Financial exclusion can be considered one of the important problems at the average level of socioeconomic development, which includes, among others, Poland. It consists in the presence of difficulties in accessing and/or using financial products and services on the main market that are suitable for the needs of individuals, and prevents them from leading a normal life in society. Due to its own characteristics and the trends in financial markets, this phenomenon is closely linked to the issue of the digital divide. Accordingly, it can be seen that solutions leading to the reduction of the financial exclusion are based on tools using information technology innovations and modern technologies. One of the methods recognized as the most effective in this area is financial education, which is aimed largely at children and adolescents, which justifies additionally the choice of such tools. It was equally important to determine the extent to which modern instruments are preferred in comparison to traditional ones. The aim of this paper will be the analysis of the solutions based on modern technologies that are used in actions taken to prevent financial exclusion in selected EU countries, including Poland. The structure of the paper is as follows: the first part will present the problem of financial exclusion (identifying groups particularly at risk), then it will review methods of preventing and combating financial exclusion, with particular emphasis on modern ICT tools, and the final part will indicate the possible directions and barriers facing the solutions that may lead to a reduced level of financial exclusion of individuals. The method made use of indepth analysis of the literature and a review of existing solutions, which financial institutions provide on the Web.

In this work electron magnetic resonance (EMR) spectra of off-stoichiometric $Ni_{50}Mn_{35.5}In_{14.5}$ Heusler alloy ribbons obtained by melt-spinning method were measured. The EMR measurements were performed on the X-band (9.36 GHz) spectrometer. Angle dependences were registered for three orientations of sample, with the use of uniaxial goniometer at 300. The results exhibited magnetic anisotropy and were used for calculating the principal values of g tensor.

Opis:
Positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy has shown to be a powerful tool to study the nanostructures of porous materials. Positron emission tomograph is a device allowing imaging of metabolic processes e.g. in human bodies. A newly developed device, the Jagiellonian PET will allow positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy in addition to imaging, thus combining both analyses providing new methods for physics and medicine. In this contribution we present a computer program that is compatible with the Jagiellonian PET software. We compare its performance with the standard program LT 9.0 by using positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy data from hexane measurements at different temperatures. Our program is based on an iterative procedure, and our fits prove that it performs as good as LT 9.0.

Opis:
Temperature studies in the range 300 800 K of amorphous Fe80Nb6B14 alloy using Mössbauer spectroscopy are presented. It is shown that at a temperature close to 700 K iron clusters with non-collinear magnetic structure are formed. The observed magnetic permeability enhancement effect in the annealed at elevated temperatures alloy, which takes place in amorphous phase, is due to the strong ferromagnetic exchange between Fe clusters via the amorphous matrix and reduction of internal stresses.

Objective: To examine the association between TYMS 2R3R polymorphism and DPYD [IVS]14+1G>A mutation by comparing healthy subjects with colorectal cancer (CRC) patients in the Mexican population. Method: Genotyping of the 2R/3R was performed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and [IVS]14+1G>A mutation by real-time PCR analysis. Results: The observed frequencies of the TYMS 2R3R polymorphism and the -[IVS]14+1G>A mutation in DPYD did not indicate an increased risk for CRC (p>0.05). However we observed an association of the 2R/2R (OR 3.08, 95% CI 1.66-6.08, p=0.0017) and heterozygous (OR 1.98, 95% CI 1.32-2.97, p=0.0012) genotypes as risk factors when comparing controls and CRC patients that were also tobacco consumers. An association between the genotype and the disease was evident. The distribution of the 2R/2R genotype and hematological toxicity (adjusted OR 2.26, 95% CI 1.54-4.45, p=0.0259), heterozygous (2R/3R) with tumor stage III-IV (OR 1.81, 95% CI 1.11-2.94, p=0.020) and 2R/2R-2R/3R in non-chemotherapy response CRC patients with hematological (OR 2.3, 95% CI 1.21-4.4, p=0.014) and gastric toxicities (OR 3.11, 95% CI 1.18-8.2, p=0.035) confirmed that this factor may significantly contribute to the CRC susceptibility. Conclusion: TYMS 2R3R polymorphism and the -[IVS]14+1G>A mutation in DPYD was not associated with susceptibility to CRC. However, the 2R/2R and 2R/3R genotypes of TYMS polymorphism could significantly contribute to hematological and gastric toxicity in CRC patients in this sample population.

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are offering new avenues for economic empowerment to individuals around the world. However, they also provide a powerful tool that facilitates criminal activities such as human trafficking and illegal weapons sales that cause great harm to individuals and communities. Cryptocurrency advocates have argued that the ethical dimensions of cryptocurrency are not qualitatively new, insofar as money has always been understood as a passive instrument that lacks ethical values and can be used for good or ill purposes. In this paper, we challenge such a presumption that money must be ‘value-neutral.’ Building on advances in artificial intelligence, cryptography, and machine ethics, we argue that it is possible to design artificially intelligent cryptocurrencies that are not ethically neutral but which autonomously regulate their own use in a way that reflects the ethical values of particular human beings – or even entire human societies. We propose a technological framework for such cryptocurrencies and then analyse the legal, ethical, and economic implications of their use. Finally, we suggest that the development of cryptocurrencies possessing ethical as well as monetary value can provide human beings with a new economic means of positively influencing the ethos and values of their societies.

The main goal of article is to investigate the Warsaw Stock Exchange market reaction to announcements in connection with planned dividend payouts. The research sample comprises 45 entities listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange between 2017 and 2021. The analysis uses the simple rate of return and the buy-and-hold excess return. Regression analysis shows that change in DPR does not fully explain the share price changes. Nonetheless, the weak market reaction to dividend payment announcements may lead to the conclusion that Polish stocks already take into account information about dividend payouts.
Głównym celem artykułu jest zbadanie reakcji rynku na ogłoszenia w związku z planowanymi wypłatami dywidendy. Próba badawcza obejmuje 45 podmiotów notowanych na Giełdzie Papierów Wartościowych w Warszawie w latach 2017–2021. W analizie wykorzystano prostą stopę zwrotu oraz nadwyżkową stopę zwrotu typu buy-and-hold. Analiza regresji wskazuje, że zmiana wskaźnika DPR nie wyjaśnia w pełni zmiany cen akcji podmiotów objętych analizą. Niemniej jednak słaba reakcja rynku na komunikat o wypłacie dywidendy może prowadzić do wniosku, że polskie akcje już uwzględniają informacje o jej wypłacie.
