    In the studies of non-mimetic fiction in the Hispanic world, reflections on expressions traditionally considered popular have been consolidating little by little. It is striking that, in this process of academic visibilization, such scarce attention is paid to horror. Often associated with the category of the fantastic, it urges to claim the specificity of this genre as an expression similar to the fantastic; not coincident with it, but, on the contrary, endowed with particular features. The purpose of the article is precisely to illustrate these characteristics. To this end, we resort to sources of various kinds, including those that assume the specific character of horror, and those that study it as part of the fantastic mode. All of them will contribute to the establishment of a solid theoretical basis; once it is fixed, we will proceed to exemplification by means of the analysis of two stories belonging to each of the categories and by the same author: Cádiz-born Félix J. Palma (Sanlúcar de Barrameda, 1968).

    This paper deals with the cultural conflict in Western societies throughout the past few decades. As Vargas Llosa says, present-day culture is reduced to a practice that tends to get rid of our concerns, and that makes us live a kind of fiction or game. We must denounce the complicity of the big names that represent the culture in the postmodern world. Many intellectuals refuse to discuss it, and prefer to live on the revenues generated by the industry. The market has become a cultural expression. The responsibility lies in senders and receivers. Consumption of these pseudo-cultural products no longer causes shame. This conflict is evident in the so-called digital literature (not to be confused with digitized literature) which creates a hybrid product that is based on superficiality, simulation and spectacular sign. Present-day literature responds to the force of the image with the misappropriation of the movie phenomenon. In the same way that the neo-classicists denounced the Baroque excess, today we can, with absolute legitimacy, express our astonishment at the abandonment of literary essence, which is the act of reading, and the empowerment of other elements (visual and auditory) in products which we continue to call “literary”. We must find a way out of the dilemma that occurs and answer the question of whether culture is an idea, a feeling, a brain mechanism for progress, or a new consumer item that serves to hide our grief, our doubts and our questions.     In this paper, we present nonlinear dynamic behaviour of a system which consists of a mass connected to a rigid support by a shape memory alloy (SMA) element and a damper. In order to disturb the system, a DC motor with limited power supply is connected to the mass, causing an interaction between the vibrating structure and the energy source. The SMA element is characterised using a one-dimensional phenomenological constitutive model, based on the classical Devonshire theory. We analyse the non-ideal system in form of two coupled nonlinear differential equations. Some interesting nonlinear phenomena as the Sommerfeld effect and nonlinear resonance including periodic, chaotic and hyperchaotic regime are presented.
    W pracy przedstawiono opis dynamiki nieliniowego układu złożonego z masy połączonej ze sztywnym podłożem za pośrednictwem elementu z pamięcią kształtu i tłu- mikiem. W celu realizacji wymuszenia w układzie zastosowano silnik prądu stałego z ograniczonym poborem mocy, który pobudza do ruchu masę, tworząc w ten sposób sprzężenie mechaniczne pomiędzy układem drgającym a źródłem energii. Element z pamięcią kształtu opisano za pomocą jednowymiarowego modelu fenomenologicznego opartego na teorii Devenshire’a. Przeanalizowano rozważany nieidealny układ opisany dwoma sprzężonymi nieliniowymi równaniami ruchu. Zaobserwowano i opisano interesujące zjawiska nieliniowe w postaci efektu Sommerfelda i nieliniowego rezonansu w zakresie drgań okresowych, chaotycznych i hiperchaotycznych.

    This paper considers the nonlinear dynamics of an electromechanical device with a pendulum arm and a Nonlinear Energy Sink (NES) put on the point of the pendulum suspension. It is shown that the (NES) is capable of absorbing energy from the system. The numerical results are shown in a bifurcation diagram, phase plane, Poincar´e map and Lyapunov exponents.

    One-dimensional experimental modal analysis of an unvarnished trapezoidal violin built after the description of F. Savart and an anonymous trapezoidal violin on display in the Music Instrument Museum of Brussels is described. The analysis has revealed ten prominent modes. A mode that may potentially play a role of the “tonal barometer” of the instrument is pointed out. The mode shapes are symmetric and of high amplitude, due to the construction of the instrument. Subjective evaluation of the sound quality demonstrated no pronounced difference between the trapezoidal violin and normal violin.

    Gen. brygadier Dela Feliks jest jednym z głównych twórców przekształceń w obszarze ochrony przeciwpożarowej, jakie nastąpiły w kraju w związku ze zmianami ustrojowymi w Polsce w końcu ubiegłego wieku. Dotyczy to rozwiązań organizacyjnych systemu ratowniczego, a w szczególności utworzenia Krajowego Systemu Ratowniczego, a także sytemu kształcenia i doskonalenia zawodowego kadr dla systemu ratowniczego. Podejmował też wysiłki mające na celu zreformowanie rozwiązań organizacyjnoprawnych w zakresie obrony cywilnej w kraju. Służbę w ochronie przeciwpożarowej rozpoczął w roku 1964 wstępując do Szkoły Oficerów Pożarnictwa w Warszawie, po ukończeniu której został skierowany do Szkoły Podoficerów Pożarnictwa w Krakowie. Następnym etapem służby Generała Deli była Komenda Miejska Straży Pożarnych w Bytomiu gdzie pełnił najpierw funkcję zastępcy, a następnie Komendanta Rejonowego Straży Pożarnych w Bytomiu. W roku 1984 został powołany na stanowisko Komendanta Szkoły Chorążych Pożarnictwa w Krakowie. 26 lutego 1992 roku został powołany przez Premiera Jana Olszewskiego na stanowisko Komendanta Głównego Państwowej Straży Pożarnej. Był więc pierwszym funkcjonariuszem Państwowej Straży Pożarnej. Z dniem 01.01.1997 r. w związku z przeniesieniem przez Sejm zadań Obrony Cywilnej Kraju z resortu Obrony Narodowej do resortu Spraw Wewnętrznych i Administracji objął stanowisko Szefa Obrony Cywilnej Kraju. Funkcję tę pełnił do końca 1998 roku. W latach 1999-2001 przygotowywał wraz zespołem koncepcje modernizacji systemu szkolenia ratowników OSP. W roku 2001 Minister Spraw Wewnętrznych i Administracji powierzył Mu stanowisko Dyrektora Departamentu Bezpieczeństwa Powszechnego w MSWiA, które pełnił do roku 2002. W roku 2002 objął stanowisko Dyrektora Centralnego Muzeum Pożarnictwa w Mysłowicach i jednocześnie został powołany na Szefa Zespołu Koncepcyjnego MSWiA, którego zadaniem było opracowanie projektów ustaw: o Zintegrowanym Systemie Ratowniczym i Bezpieczeństwie obywatelskim, pełniąc jednocześnie funkcję doradcy sekretarza stanu w MSWiA do spraw bezpieczeństwa powszechnego państwa.
    Brigadier general Feliks Dela is one of the main initiators of the transformations in the area of fire protection which took place in the country as the result of political changes in Poland at the end of the last century. The changes concerned organizational solutions in the rescue system, particularly establishment of the National Rescue System, and professional educational and training system of rescue system personnel. Feliks Dela undertook also efforts aimed at reforming organizational and legal solutions in the area of civil defence in the country. His service in firefighting, General Dela started in 1964 with the appointment to the Higher School for Fire Service Officers. After graduation he was directed to the Non-Commissioned Fire Service Officers Academy in Cracow. The following step in his career was the Municipal Fire Department in Bytom, where he performed the function of a Vice-Commandant and then Regional Commandant of Fire Services in Bytom. In 1984 he was appointed Commandant of Firefighting Academy in Cracow. On 26 February 1992 he was appointed by the Prime Minister Jan Olszewski the Chief Commandant of the State Fire Service. This means that he was the first functionary of the State Fire Service. From the date of 01.01.1997 when the Parliament passed the responsibilities related to the national civil protection from the Depatment of National Protection to the Department of Internal Affairs and Administration he got the post of the Chief of the National Civil Defence. He fulfilled this duty till the end of 1998. In 1999-2001 he prepared together with his team the conception for the modernization of OSP rescuers training system. In 2001 the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration admitted him a position of the Director of the General Safety Department in MSWiA. He fulfilled this duty till 2002.

    Earth System Models (ESM), simulating sea ice and its interaction with the atmosphere and open ocean, require reliable physical, chemical, and biological input from measurements. There is limited data available from the Marginal Ice Zone of the Antarctic, where sea ice growth mechanisms differ from the Arctic. The main objective of this study is to review existing work related to Antarctic sea ice and highlight gaps in the available literature. The mechanical properties of sea ice and the numerical modeling of sea ice across all scales are covered. We summarize the genesis, physical mechanics, static and dynamic properties, strength, toughness, and transport of young sea ice as well as medium to large scale observation. On the computational mechanics side large- and small-scale modeling, ocean-sea ice and atmosphere-sea ice models, as well as sea ice rheology models, sea ice fracture mechanics, and bio-geo-chemical interaction processes are captured. The synergy between the physical and computational mechanics brings to light missing information from both fields. Plain language summary (PLS) Sea ice determines the interaction of the ocean with the atmosphere in both the southern and northern hemispheres. Its formation and annual development is subject to mechanical interaction with ocean currents and winds. This review covers the mechanics of sea ice in the Antarctic and its relation to the Arctic covering experiment and modelling. Impact on the climate is discussed.
