Opis:
In the world of Western musicology music is regarded as possessing two main divisions. The first being performance features which consist of traits such as dynamics, and tempo, and a second known as structural features such as the arrangement of notes in time. The main differences between these divisions is that performance features are evolutionarily ancient, indiscrete and present in many sound expressions, whereas structural features are evolutionarily younger, discrete and music-specific. Performance features are tightly connected with motor activity and emotional processing. Despite the fact that performance features carry information about emotional states, they can also be used as tools of manipulation. It has been proposed that one biological function of these tools is to affect the minds of other animals in order to arouse the need for cooperation in them. It has also been suggested that music performance features are homologous with some prosodic features of speech which evolved as a communicative tool before language and music.

Opis:
In order to study the rotational features induced by evaporating water several laboratory experiments were conducted with airborne rotary detection discs made of absorbent cotton wool and ultralight polyurethane foam discs. Measurements indicated that water vapor develops and transits into the air an upwardly directed counterclockwise rotary motion in the Northern Hemisphere, and a clockwise motion in the Southern Hemisphere. Additionally, measurements of the thermal structure of the air/water interface indicated that evaporating water may gather rotational momentum in the warmer subsurface layer. The conducted observations suggest that the process of water evaporation may be based on the grouping of some coherently spiraling molecules in the liquid phase. The interacting molecules combine their partial rotational momentums, thus allowing the top molecule to transit via the surface tension microlayer and become airborne. At the moment of evaporation, the gathered rotational energy is taken over by the free bi-hydrogen rotor-arm of the evaporating molecule that starts to revolve. Next, the water vapor-induced rotational share of the kinetic energy is likely to be redistributed among other gaseous molecules and transferred into heat (during condensation) that further energizes the airborne convective loops. In order to confirm the rotary effects induced by water vapor, several field experiments were conducted with airborne rotary detection ribbons in the Northern Hemisphere. The observations confirmed that a more enhanced counterclockwise spiraling motion of air is found with air currents under atmospheric lows of a higher relative humidity, while weaker and clockwise directed rotary dominates under atmospheric highs.

Opis:
The study is aimed to investigate the properties of auditory-based features for audio change point detection process. In the performed analysis, two popular techniques have been used: a metric-based approach and the ∆BIC scheme. The efficiency of the change point detection process depends on the type and size of the feature space. Therefore, we have compared two auditory-based feature sets (MFCC and GTEAD) in both change point detection schemes. We have proposed a new technique based on multiscale analysis to determine the content change in the audio data. The comparison of the two typical change point detection techniques with two different feature spaces has been performed on the set of acoustical scenes with single change point. As the results show, the accuracy of the detected positions depends on the feature type, feature space dimensionality, detection technique and the type of audio data. In case of the ∆BIC approach, the better accuracy has been obtained for MFCC feature space in the most cases. However, the change point detection with this feature results in a lower detection ratio in comparison to the GTEAD feature. Using the same criteria as for ∆BIC, the proposed multiscale metric-based technique has been executed. In such case, the use of the GTEAD feature space has led to better accuracy. We have shown that the proposed multiscale change point detection scheme is competitive to the ∆BIC scheme with the MFCC feature space.

In the article it is shown that folklore and ethnographic records are an important source of historical research into Podillya dialects. S. Rudanskiy, K. Sheykovskiy, A. Kopitskiy, A. Dyminskiy, Marko Vovchok and O. Markovych played an important role in researching oral folk art. The author of the research analysed the texts of Ukrainian fairytales, which were recorded in the Podillya region in the middle of the 19th century by A. Dyminskiy and S. Rudanskiy, and composed by M. Levchenko. The texts of these fairytales fix a great number of Podillian phonetical features, which still exist even now and which demonstrate the remoteness and vitality of these dialects. It has been proved that only authentic texts can serve as a valuable and reliable source for linguistic study of the dynamic Podillyan people’s dialect.

Opis:
Japanese English (JE) refers to the English spoken by Japanese citizens. This paper characterizes JE by examining its lexicogrammatical features produced by five speakers participating in experimental recordings. Drawing on the initiatives taken by Cogo and Dewey’s seminal work (2012), this study presents nine lexicogrammatical features which are taken to be typical of JE. It is shown that one decisive factor in creating a new variant is the formation of an alternative form to its native counterpart and this mechanism is sourced from the speaker’s multiple knowledge about two languages.

Opis:
In this paper a novel definition and understanding of colour correlogram has been proposed. The proposed colour correlogram generalizes the spatial graylevel dependency matrix (SGLDM) to the case of colour textures. This generalization is based on perceptual colour difference measure expressed in the language of the CIELab colour space components. Application of the colour difference instead of arbitrary colour indices or colour components themselves allows to avoid colour-shuffling palletization and introduction of multidimensional objects, respectively; the proposed perceptual colour correlogram is a single 2D matrix. At the same time, a simple relation of the proposed colour correlogram to the spatial graylevel dependency matrix for graylevel textures is retained. Based on this relation it will be shown that there exists a vector of statistical features built from the perceptual colour correlogram which can be used to describe textures in perceptual terms. These statistical features and their abovementioned perceptual interpretation generalize Haralick concepts derived for the SGLDM.

The aim of this work is the experimental study of the weight loss impact on the properties of flying objects. Work is hased on the results of resonance tests of the helicopter, gliders and military aircraft. In the presented flying objeets group the possible occurrence of weight losses during the flight are up to 50%. The paper posed the following questions: How big can be, in practice, the weight loss during the flight? To which resonance the mass loss has the greatest impact? How and by what rules the map of resonances changes? Does in the process of weight loss there are other, worth-knowing events? Gliders, airplanes and a helicopter were investigated in the Resonance Test Laboratory of Institute of Aviation. The author has organized and for over 20 years led the Resonance Test Laboratory at the Institute of Aviation, in which he made or directed the investigations of dozens of aircraft, gliders, helicopters and their elements and components. Effect of weight loss on the flying objeets properties is one of several ,,unusual" research topics phenomena, which the author observed during a standard resonance tests. Opis:
Attributing the subjective features of the crime, in other words volitional and intellectual attuite at criminal act committed by perpetrator, is extremally important for settle the matter, if only because it have an influence at the punishment. In case of sane person in principle attributing subjective features is not difficult. But in case of insane perpetrator, perpetrator’s mental disorder impedes this attributing. This disorder cause that insane person sometimes in another way feels the desire to committing of criminal act or not. Insane persons also in another way than sane persons predicts or not possibility of committing the criminal act. Therefore issue of attributing subjective features of the criminal law in case of committing criminal act by insane perpetrator is issue in a dispute in Polish doctrine of criminal law. The author will start his consideration at elaborate what is subjective feature and insanity in sense of Criminal Code from 1997. Author will presents also examples of the Polish doctrine of criminal law views as to this problem, which are sometimes extremely different. The author also will quote some judgments as to this problem. At next the author will elaborate his opinion in the issue of attributing subjective features.

Opis:
Airborne Laser Scanning (ALS) products are now often used to study the terrain due to their numerous advantages such as relatively low cost and ease of data collection. The ISOK project (pl: Informatyczny System Osłony Kraju – national hazard protection information system) developed elevation data for about 65% of the Polish territory. Parallel to the airborne laser scanning point cloud collection, additional products, such as orthophotomaps, digital terrain models (DTM), and digital surface models (DSM) were created. This resource is not only a reference material for the project, but also a valuable source of the analysis used in various fields of economy and science. Important features of the ISOK-data are the availability and their standardized format based on uniform technical conditions. The article presents the results of an experiment in which an attempt was made to use the digital elevation model with a resolution of 1 m based on airborne laser scanning data to determine concave terrain features using GIS tools. The ISOK-DTM has a height accuracy of 0.15 m for the outdoor areas, which makes it a better representation of small terrain forms than previous products. The research area is located at an undeveloped open ground with comparatively little variation of its shape for a long period. Several methods were tested to classify the terrain shape based of topographic attributes. Those methods led to similar locations of the concave features and further on coincide with results of the pre-analysis. Also, attention was drawn to the selection of the analysis parameters and their influence on the result. The results show the usefulness of ISOK’s DTM for locating field concave terrain shapes.

Opis:
An automatic analysis of product reviews requires deep understanding of the natural language text by machine. The limitation of bag-of-words (BoW) model is that a large amount of word relation information from the original sentence is lost and the word order is ignored. Higher-order-N-grams also fail to capture the long-range dependency relations and word order information. To address these issues, syntactic features extracted from the dependency relations can be used for machine learning based document-level sentiment classification. Generalization of syntactic dependency features and negation handling is used to achieve more accurate classification. Further to reduce the huge dimensionality of the feature space, feature selection methods based on information gain (IG) and weighted frequency and odds (WFO) are used. A supervised feature weighting scheme called delta term frequency-inverse document frequency (TF-IDF) is also employed to boost the importance of discriminative features using the observed uneven distribution of features between the two classes. Experimental results show the effectiveness of generalized syntactic dependency features over standard features for sentiment classification using Boolean multinomial naive Bayes (BMNB) classifier.
