Opis:
This article provides an overview of the existing problems in the construction of wireless sensor networks (WSN), in particular the problem of energy efficiency of the system. In many cases, the WSN is set in places where the connection to the stationary power sources is difficult or impossible. Such situations require the use of autonomous energy sources: traditional (batteries) or alternative (solar panels, wind generators, etc.). Due to limitations in the available system power there is obvious need in efficient use of available energy resources.

Polityka europejska w zakresie działań zmierzających do poprawy efektywności energetycznej bardzo mocno skupia się na sektorze budownictwa, odpowiadającego za około 40% całkowitego zużycia energii. Zrównoważone, energooszczędne budownictwo to w najbliższych latach wymóg i konieczność.
European policy on energy efficiency measures focuses very strongly on the building sector, which accounts for around 40% of total energy consumption. Sustainable, energy-efficient construction is a requirement and necessity in the coming years. Malopolska Centre for Energy-Efficient Building of Cracow University of Technology in cooperation with Malopolska Laboratory of Energy-Efficient Building introduce a certificate which will confirm required parameters of energy-efficient building and its influence on users’ health. The document is the first certificate of energy efficient buildings developed in Poland, meeting the assumptions of buildings with nearly zero energy demand, whose implementation is imposed on Poland by the European Union directives.

Opis:
The International Maritime Organization (IMO), through its Maritime Environmental Protection Committee (MEPC), has been carrying out substantive work on the reduction and limitation of greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping since 1997, following the adoption of the Kyoto Protocol and the 1997 MARPOL Conference. While to date no mandatory GHG instrument for international shipping has been adopted, IMO has given significant consideration of the matter and has been working in accordance with an ambitious work plan with a view to adopting a package of technical provisions. Beside the efforts undertaken by IMO, it is assumed that e.g. optimized manoeuvring regimes have potential to contribute to a reduction of GHG emissions. Such procedures and supporting technologies can decrease the negative effects to the environment and also may reduce fuel consumption. However, related training has to be developed and to be integrated into existing course schemes accordingly. IMO intends to develop a Model Course aiming at promoting the energy‐efficient operation of ships. This Course will contribute to the IMO’s environmental protection goals as set out in resolutions A.947(23) and A.998(25) by promulgating industry “best practices”, which reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the negative impact of global shipping on climate change. In this paper the outline of the research work will be introduced and the fundamental ideas and concepts are described. A concept for the overall structure and the development of suggested detailed content of the draft Model course will be exemplarily explained. Also, a developed draft module for the model course with samples of the suggested integrated practical exercises will be introduced and discussed. The materials and data in this publication have been obtained partly through capacity building research project of IAMU kindly supported by the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) and The Nippon Foundation in Japan.

Opis:
The life cycle costs of machine tools are much higher determined by their energy costs than what is often roughly assessed. The growing demand for consumer goods and especially possibilities of individual mobility in major parts of the developing world - e. g. Asia - will lead to serious problems in meeting the demand for an abundant energy supply and will increase the cost for energy further in the near-term future. Harder efforts are necessary to "reach more with less" - using less energy than today to reach a defined goal in production. The paper deals with a methodology to design machine tools with a high "energy efficiency". Based on the property-driven design methodology by Weber a systematic approach is shown to enhance the design of machine tools. Energy efficiency is a new additional and central property in the design process. To attain these given properties characterisations are determined by the engineer to fulfil these properties. On the developing-path the characterisations are defined in more detail step by step, and after each step it is assured if the accounted properties where met by the defined characteristics. The approach is to first analyse existing machine tools and therefore define prior energy consumers. The identified major consumers are afterwards systematically addressed to reduce their energy consumption. The result is an enhanced machine tool with state-of-the-art energy usage. This addresses the objectives of the EU and takes pressure of the energy supply by reducing the energy demand in production.

The focal point is to present the areas where the technology in buildings can be supported by proper motivation and take substantial advantage measurable in technical units. The need to understand the integration between ecology, society, economy and technology is crucial when global improvements are the targets. These targets should consider urban environments as natural human settlement, in the understanding that accepts human psychological needs for wide and deep education, acquiring highly professional satisfaction without resigning from family style of life and leisure as natural. It is necessary to accept human production also in its advanced levels as a natural human activity and to combine it with the other afore-mentioned components of integration. Attention has been directed to clean energy certification in newly constructed objects and refurbished buildings, formation of owner’s responsibility for the possessed goods and their best use in sustainable development. Particular attention has been drawn to the increasingly popular manner of using resources only if it is justified by proportionally very high advantages to the society. This has been presented with the examples of energy savings in low energy and passive buildings. Moreover, the examples show the ways of sustainable development which include the use of renewable energy, using coal only in collective industrial systems very restricted in terms of protection against pollution and uncontrolled use of energy, and similarly, of other conventional fuels, water and land.

Wireless sensor network is a significant piece of wireless communication. It is a gathering of an enormous number of sensor nodes that are set in remote spots. The sensors have ability to do a typical undertaking. So energy exhaustion plays a significant job in keeping up a stable network. To build the system lifetime, a different energy effective algorithm is required which expands the network lifetime and makes the network more energy productive. For the augmenting, the lifetime of the network diverse routing technique has been utilized which help in expanding the lifetime of the network. This article portrays the diverse routing protocol which helps in energy efficient routing in a wireless sensor network.

Opis:
The paper presents the problem of sensorless control of a permanent magnets synchronous motor (PMSM) without a damping cage for fan applications. Frequency control was used according to the principle of v/f = const. In order to reduce the power consumption of the drive system, the optimal voltage to the motor frequency characteristics was tested in the laboratory. The experimental studies was performed on a laboratory set of a drive consisting of two coupled PMSM machines, where one machine was supplied by a transistor inverter and the other was a passive load. A new criterion based on minimizing the module of stator current vector was proposed and an optimization algorithm in steady states was tested. The results of laboratory tests confirmed the validity of the applied solution for the fan drive.
