Opis:
Background and methods: Fuzzy decision-making approach is allowed in geometric programming for a single item EOQ model with dynamic ordering cost and demand-dependent unit cost. The setup cost varies with the quantity produced/purchased and the modification of objective function with storage area in the presence of imprecisely estimated parameters are investigated. It incorporates all concepts of a fuzzy arithmetic approach, the quantity ordered, and demand per unit compares both fuzzy geometric programming technique and other models for linear membership functions. Results and conclusions: Investigation of the properties of an optimal solution allows developing an algorithm whose validity is illustrated through an example problem and the results discu ssed. Sensitivity analysis of the optimal solution is also studied with respect to changes in different parameter values.

In reverse logistics systems demand can be satisfied with production or procurement and any kind of reuse option. The used products are brought back, stored and reused in due time to satisfy the demand. Same part of this flow can be also disposed of. Inventory management has a significant meaning in reverse logistics. The goal of his paper is to investigate EO Q/EP Q models in reverse logistics. First EO Q model in reverse logistics was created by Schrady in 1967. Along the same line of research, new models were created by Nahmias and Rivera, Mabini et al., Richter, Dobos, Saadany and Jaber. These models are very interesting but as a deterministic are also very difficult to use in practice.

Opis:
The article presents the theoretical basis of the EOQ (economic quantity order) model, which allows you to optimize the size of the order so as to minimize the cost of frozen capital. The next part presents the results of implementing the model at Bahlsen Polska, assuming that it does not receive any discounts from suppliers in relation to the size of the order. This assumption can be excluded in the case of the functioning of the disposition system, carried out taking into account large contracts with the supplier. Optimization in this situation does not apply to the quantity in the contract, but only to a single call which is information for the supplier who must deliver a certain amount of goods, and at the same time reduce the balance appearing in the contract.

Huang and Hsu (2008) investigated the inventory system as a cost minimization problem, with the objective to determine the retailer’s optimal inventory policy under the supply chain conditions. Then, Chung (2008) presented the comments to this problem, with the aim to overcome the shortcomings and present complete proofs for the results, relative to Huang and Hsu (2008). However, the proof, proposed by Chung is cumbersome, and can be followed with difficulty. The main purpose of this paper is to develop another proof, much more easy to comprehend.

Acceptance sampling by attributes is a universally used statistical tool for quality control. It is a technique that deals with the decision to accept or reject a batch of goods using defined procedures. An attribute single sampling plan designed under the assumption that the number of defects has a Poisson distribution is the optimal plan whenever the chance of a defect occurring in the manufacturing process is low. This study introduces the incorporation of an attribute single sampling plan minimizing the sum of risks with an economic order quantity (EOQ) model taking into account the possibility of trade credit. The plan ensures the effectiveness of the optimal design based on the minimization of costs including the inspection costs, stock holding costs and ordering costs.

Opis:
In a complex supply chain network, the production nodes, seller nodes, and buyers are connected randomly. We assume a process of joining two random nodes leading to the bivariate Poisson probability mass function. There exist two types of links - one is horizontal (H) and the other is vertical (V), which support the continuous flow of commodities through the supply chain. This induces competition among workers at a node to manage these two types of links within fixed constraints and creates bargaining to decide the optimal degree of both types of links at a node. We use the Nash security point to obtain the bargaining solution describing the optimal links. We reduce the carrying cost and ordering cost of inventory, which are contrary in their nature by introducing horizontal and vertical links, respectively. We modify the total cost function and establish a new economic order quantity (EOQ), optimal shortage quantity, and total optimal cost in terms of the optimal degree of H and V cooperation.

Opis:
The present paper deals with an EOQ model for deteriorating items with time-dependent exponential demand rate and partial backlogging. Shortages are allowed and completely backlogged in this model. The backlogging rate of unsatisfied demand is assumed as a function of waiting time. The concept of penalty cost is introduced in the proposed model because there are many perishable products that do not deteriorate for some period of time and after that period they continuously deteriorate and lose their values. This loss can be incurred as penalty cost to the wholesalers/retailers. In any business organization, the penalty cost has an important role for special types of seasonal products and short life products. Therefore, the total cost of the product can be reduced by maximizing the demand rate and minimizing the penalty cost during a given period of time. The purpose of our study is to optimise the total variable inventory cost. A numerical example is also given to show the applicability of the developed model.

The publication describes two ways of shopping, taking into account the CPI (Consumer Price Index) inflation rate. In the first case, changes in the sales price are made in a continuous manner in accordance with the inflation rate, and therefore it is better to make larger purchases. In the second case, it is better to carry out smaller purchases, because it is characterized by one-time adjustment of sales prices to the entire purchased a lot of goods. Both cases were verified based on the Solver tool, using non-linear, integer-based optimization. The final result was to determine the optimal purchase quantities with the minimum inventory costs.

Opis:
This study involves the implementation of an economic order quantity (EOQ) model which is an inventory control method in a ceramic factory. Two different methods were applied for the calculation of EOQs. The first method is to determine EOQ values using a response surface method-based approach (RSM). The second method uses conventional EOQ calculations. To produce a ceramic product, 281 different and additive materials may be used. First, Pareto (ABC) analysis was performed to determine which of the materials have higher priority. Because of this analysis, the value of 21 items among 281 different materials and additives were compared to the ratio of the total product. The ratio was found to be 70.4% so calculations were made for 21 items. Usage value for every single item for the years 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, respectively, were obtained from the company records. Eight different demand forecasting methods were applied to find the amount of the demand in EOQ. As a result of forecasting, the EOQ of the items were calculated by establishing a model. Also, EOQ and RSM calculations for the items were made and both calculation results were compared to each other. Considering the obtained results, it is understood that RSM can be used in EOQ calculations rather than the conventional EOQ model. Also, there are big differences between the EOQ values which were implemented by the company and the values calculated. Because of this work, the RSM-based EOQ approach can be used to decide on the EOQ calculations as a way of improving the system performance.

The objectives were to identify the nature of inventory control techniques used by different departments in higher learning institution, to find out the extent of adoption of inventory control techniques by different department in higher learning institution and to determine the effect of inventory control techniques on customer service delivery in higher learning institution. The study employed the descriptive research design and the use of questionnaire in data collection. The sample was carefully selected from the population of 250 employees by use of purposive random sampling procedure. Purposive sample of seven departments providing customer service delivery was selected and sample size of 13 employees was selected from each department depending on the number of employees who provided reliable information. The data were presented using diagrams and tables. Analysis was done using frequencies and percentages. Hypotheses was tested for significance of relationship between dependent and independent variables using the chi-square. It was established that the stocks were well managed in Chuka University departments. It was found that various inventory control techniques like the JIT, two-bin and visual review were moderately employed by the departments in Chuka University. 38.4% of the employees recommended the JIT technique to be used most frequently and 30.8% suggest the TBS not to be used at all. It was established that all the stock control system were employed in Chuka University and were fairly implemented. The findings of this study will be used by the institution to come up with the appropriate inventory control model that fully satisfies customer service delivery. The recommendation is that management of the university should provide continuous training to familiarize employees on appropriate inventory control techniques.

In this paper we discussed an economic order quantity inventory model for deteriorating items with time-dependent demand rate. Here the demand is considered as a quadratic function of time and deteriorating items follow a Gompertz distribution deterioration. Stock out is not permitted and holding cost is constant. The deterioration cost, holding cost and the parameters α, β are assumed as a triangular fuzzy numbers. Our goal is to maximize the total profit of inventory optimization by using Pascal triangular method. A few numerical examples illustrate the implementation of the proposed model. Sensitivity analysis is the study of how to divide and allocate the uncertainty in the output of a mathematical model or system to different sources of input uncertainty.

Opis:
This article deals with an inventory model under a situation in which the supplier offers the purchaser some credit period if the purchaser orders a large quantity. Shortages are not allowed. The effects of the inflation rate on purchase price, ordering price and inventory holding price, time dependent deterioration of units and permissible delay in payment are discussed. A mathematical model is developed when units in inventory are subject to time dependent deterioration under inflation when the supplier offers a permissible delay to the purchaser if the order quantity is greater than or equal to a pre-specified quantity. Optimal solution is obtained and algorithm is given to find the optimal order quantity and replenishment time, which minimizes the total cost of an inventory system in different scenarios. The paper concludes with a numerical example to illustrate the theoretical results and interdependence of parameters is studied for the optimal solutions.
