Opis:
Workers in labor-intensive units, in general, maximize their earnings by subjecting themselves to high risk of occupational health hazards (RoOHH) due to economic reasons. We present an intelligent system integrating artificial neural network (ANN) and evolutionary multiobjective optimisation (EMO) to tackle this problem, which has received scant attention in the literature. A brick manufacturing unit in India is chosen as case study to demonstrate the working of proposed system. Firing is assessed to be the most severe job among others using an interview method. A job-combination approach is devised which allows firing workers to perform another job (loading/covering/molding) along with firing. The second job not only reduces their exposure to high temperature zone but also helps to compensate for reduced earnings. RoOHH is measured using a risk assessment score (RAS). ANN models the psychological responses of workers in terms of RAS, and facilitates the evaluation of a fitness function of EMO. EMO searches for optimal work schedules in a job-combination to minimize RAS and maximize earnings simultaneously. 1 Introduction Brick manufacturing (BM) in India is labor intensive and comprises the following major jobs − molding the raw bricks, loading molded bricks to kiln using a pushcart or a pony-cart, stacking molded bricks into the kiln in a particular way, spreading clay sand over the stacks uniformly for superior baking of bricks, firing the kiln that includes pouring the coal into the kiln from the covered holes at the top of the kiln at required intervals and monitoring the fire, and finally unloading the baked bricks from the kiln; we term these processes respectively as molding, loading, stacking, covering, firing and unloading, for ready references in this paper.

Opis:
The paper presents a speech emotion recognition system for social robots. Emotions are recognised using global acoustic features of the speech. The system implements the speech parameters calculation, features extraction, features selection and classification. All these phases are described. The system was verified using the two emotional speech databases: Polish and German. Perspectives for using such system in the social robots are presented.

Opis:
This paper provides an overview of the paleomagnetic results which constrain the post-Paleogene tectonic development of the Western Carpathians. A group of these results are relevant to the last stage of the Tertiary folding and thrusting of the Silesian, Dukla and Magura nappes of the Outer Western Carpathian and were obtained from Paleogene-Lower Miocene flysch sediments. Both the pre- and post-folding remanences indicate about 50° CCW vertical axis rotation with respect to the present orientation. This is about a 60° rotation relative to stable Europe. It follows that the general orientation of the Silesian and more internal nappes were NW-SE, at least until the mid-Miocene. The CCW vertical axis rotation was coordinated with that of the Central Carpathian Paleogene Basin. The termination of the rotation can be estimated from the paleomagnetic data available from the Pieniny andesites which intruded the Pieniny Klippen Belt and the southern part of the Magura Nappe as well as from those obtained for the Neogene intramontane basins which opened up in the Outer and in the Central Western Carpathians. The paleomagnetic vectors for the andesites form two groups. The first group suggests about 45° CCW rotation relative to north, while the second shows no rotation. At the present stage of our knowledge it seems likely that some of the andesite bodies were intruded around 18 Ma, which is the oldest isotope age for the intrusions of the Wżar Mts, while some other bodies could have been emplaced after the rotation, around 11 Ma, which is the youngest isotope age for the Brijarka quarry. Vertical axis CCW rotation was also observed on sediments older than 11.6 Ma in the Orava-Nowy Targ Intramontane Basin which saddles the Magura Nappe and the Central Carpathian Paleogene Basin. However, this rotation was related to fault zone activity and was not attributed to the general rotation of the Outer Western Carpathian nappe system. Paleomagnetic results from the Nowy Sącz Intramontane Basin, which opened over the Magura Nappe, and those for the Central Western Carpathian Turiec Intramontane Basin do not indicate vertical axis rotation. In the first case, the loosely controlled age limit of the termination of the rotation is around 12 Ma. Well constrained results from the second basin imply that the rotation was definitely over by 8 Ma. Based on the above observations, and aware of the problem of often loose age control on the formation and deformation of the deposits of the intramontane basins, it is tentatively concluded that the large scale CCW rotation of the Central Western Carpathians, together with the Magura, Dukla and Silesian nappes, must have started after 18 Ma and terminated around 11 Ma.

Opis:
This paper describes a study of emotion recognition based on speech analysis. The introduction to the theory contains a review of emotion inventories used in various studies of emotion recognition as well as the speech corpora applied, methods of speech parametrization, and the most commonly employed classification algorithms. In the current study the EMO-DB speech corpus and three selected classifiers, the k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN), the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Support Vector Machines (SVMs), were used in experiments. SVMs turned out to provide the best classification accuracy of 75.44% in the speaker dependent mode, that is, when speech samples from the same speaker were included in the training corpus. Various speaker dependent and speaker independent configurations were analyzed and compared. Emotion recognition in speaker dependent conditions usually yielded higher accuracy results than a similar but speaker independent configuration. The improvement was especially well observed if the base recognition ratio of a given speaker was low. Happiness and anger, as well as boredom and neutrality, proved to be the pairs of emotions most often confused.

Opis:
The article addresses the situation of an employee functioning in the labour market in the conditions of digitisation, leading, amongst other, to the rise of a gig, platform and sharing economy. The employee is presented as an individual actively choosing from among new opportunities to create cooperation with the employer in terms of employment form and manner, duration and rules of work performance. The purpose of the described research was to check whether the employee who spots that the employer is undertaking actions that bespeak a transactional psychological contract and is therefore ready to change the employer activates Employability Market Orientation. In line with the adopted assumption, this attitude allows the employee to behave like a workpreneur and take full advantage of the opportunities offered in today’s labour market. The research has shown that in the sample examined, employees’ decision to change employers is not correlated with Employability Market Orientation. Many of them still decide to change employers due to low pay and low job security, which stems from the lack of a long-term contract. This may result from a passive attitude and a focus on seeking such a relation with the employer that is based on a relational psychological contract. This means that employees now find it difficult to seize new opportunities offered by modern technologies in the world of work. People who demonstrate cognitive flexibility are best predisposed to this.
