Opis:
The aim of the paper was to determine the links between price of butter in Poland and in other selected countries. The article used secondary data for the monthly price of butter at country level collected by the Milk Market Observatory and the Italian Dairy Economic Consulting Portal for 2000-2017. The analyses covered two periods: 2000-2007 and 2008-2017. The article used the Johansen cointegration tests, and Granger's causality analysis. The analyses in the first stage concerned the links between butter prices in Poland and those in Western Europe, the USA and Oceania. In the second stage, the links between butter prices in Poland and selected EU countries were identified. The results confirmed the stronger link between the price of butter in Poland and in Western Europe and Oceania. It is worth noting that this occurred mainly in the period after the financial crisis. Within the EU, butter prices in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands were strongly related to the price in Poland.
Celem artykułu jest określenie powiązań między cenami masła w Polsce a cenami masła w wybranych krajach. Wykorzystano dane wtórne dotyczące miesięcznych cen masła na poziomie państw, gromadzone przez EU Milk Market Observatory oraz portal CLAL.IT za lata 2000-2017. Analizowany okres podzielono na dwa podokresy: 2000-2007 i 2008-2017. Do analizy powiązań zastosowano testy kointegracji Johansena oraz analizę przyczynowości Grangera. W pierwszym etapie badań przeanalizowano powiązania między ceną masła w Polsce a cenami w Europie Zachodniej, USA i Oceanii. W ramach drugiego etapu badań przeanalizowano powiązania między cenami masła w Polsce i w wybranych krajach UE. Uzyskane wyniki badań potwierdziły silniejsze powiązanie cen masła w Polsce z cenami masła w Europie Zachodniej i Oceanii, szczególnie w drugim podokresie, czyli po globalnym kryzysie finansowym. Biorąc pod uwagę ceny w UE, należy stwierdzić, że największe powiązania z cenami masła w Polsce miały ceny w Belgii, Czechach, Niemczech, Irlandii oraz Holandii.

This paper presents the analysis of publications in the field of ABC/M in Polish journals in the period of 1994-2009, particularly the analysis of: number of publications, their structure, subject matter, applied research method as well as attitudes expressed by the authors. The research was based on 132 articles published in three journals: „Controlling i Rachunkowość Zarządcza", „Rachunkowość" and „Zeszyty Teoretyczne Rachunkowości". Conducted research revealed that publications in the field of ABC/M are delayed about 6 years in comparison to publications in countries like USA and Great Britain. In Poland, like in USA or Great Britain, most publications of ABC/M were published in specialist journals meant for practitioners (81.8%) and were written by research workers (57.8%). Great number of authors (96.2%) are followers of ABC/M. The research revealed that not even one publication could be classified as apposed to ABC/M whereas neutral attitude was noticed in only 5 publications. The research results revealed that among wide range of researched methods used dominate descriptive research (96.7%) and case studies (22%); questionnaire research, research review or analytical research were published sporadically. Growth of publications was simultaneous in the field of ABC and ABM as well as reference and connec- tions of those methods with other techniques of management accounting. Great number of connections between ABC and other methods of management accounting indicate enthusiasm and innovations in ABC/M use.

The sector of transport, on the one hand, contributes to the socio-economic development; on the other hand, it is the source of multiple external effects with a significant and adverse impact on the society and economy. In spite of many years' experiences in the study of external costs of transport, there are still large discrepancies in research approaches and methods. This article reviewed available studies in the scope of the estimation of external costs in transport and presented own estimations of the level of costs of climate change and air pollution generated by road freight transport in Poland. The estimation of external costs was conducted based on a method developed by Martinio et al. The obtained results of the study confirm the significant adverse effect of road freight transport on the environment. The results may be useful in the selection of appropriate transport policy instruments.

Spółdzielnie są kluczowymi graczami w sektorze mleczarskim zarówno na świecie, jak i w Polsce. Rosnąca presja na poprawę wyników ekonomicznych nasuwa pytania dotyczące czynników kształtujących ich konkurencyjność. Autorzy opracowania stawiali przed sobą dwa cele. Po pierwsze, oceniono produktywność i efektywność spółdzielni mleczarskich oraz analizowano, jak te cechy zmieniały się w czasie. Po drugie, zbadano, czy i w jakim stopniu produktywność i efektywność determinują konkurencyjność wybranych podmiotów. Jako ilustrację empiryczną wykorzystano zbiór danych dotyczących spółdzielni mleczarskich działających w Polsce, które są ważnym producentem produktów mleczarskich w Unii Europejskiej (UE). Uzyskane wyniki (przy użyciu wskaźników częściowej produktywności oraz analizy obwiedni danych, ang. data envelopment analysis, DEA) potwierdzają, że produktywność i efektywność wpływają na konkurencyjność spółdzielni mleczarskich. Jednak istotnym wkładem jest również wykazanie, że związek między produktywnością i efektywnością a konkurencyjnością jest bardziej złożony. Dla pełnej oceny konkurencyjności spółdzielni mleczarskich konieczne jest bowiem uwzględnienie dodatkowych czynników, takich jak jakościowe cechy oferty rynkowej oraz ich wpływ na zachowanie i satysfakcję konsumentów.
Cooperatives are key players in the dairy sector both globally and in Poland. Increasing pressure on the economic performance of dairy cooperatives poses questions about the drivers that shape their competitiveness. The aim of the paper is twofold. Firstly, the paper assesses the productivity and efficiency of dairy cooperatives and how these features evolved over time. Secondly, it examines whether and to what extent productivity and efficiency determine the competitiveness of entities under the study. As an empirical illustration, the authors use a dataset on dairy cooperatives operating in Poland, which is an important producer of dairy products in the European Union (EU). The results (obtained using partial productivity and data envelopment analysis) confirm that productivity and efficiency affect the competitiveness of dairy cooperatives. However, a primary contribution is to demonstrate that the relationship between productivity and efficiency versus competitiveness is more complex. Taking into account factors like the qualitative features of market offerings and their influence on consumer behaviur and satisfaction is essential for a thorough assessment of the competitiveness of dairy cooperatives.

Opis:
Paper presents the influence of the image resolution on measurement geometric parameters of the objects. Employing as test images the ductile iron structure images allow to analyze the effect of resolution distortion on a model of objects with regular shape. Authors showed on the example images, how decreasing resolution of digital images distorts the value of the parameters describing the shape of the objects, its perimeter and its quantity. The analysis was performed by an automatic algorithm applying image analysis and stereological method.

Preventive methods are important group of methods used in the process of design and which are known as quality design methods. The aim of these methods is identification of potential failures and cause-and-effect relationships in consistent and systematic way, and then taking appropriate preventive or corrective actions. The well-known examples of preventive methods also used for modelling and analysis of the criticality (risk) factor are FMEA analysis and FTA analysis. A matrix FMEA analysis method has been presented and discussed in the work. The basic assumptions related to this method were characterized and algorithms for each stages of analysis have been presented. It has been presented practical application of FMEA method on example of selected components of hydraulic system.

Hydraulic power systems are widely used in heavy machinery. Safety of such a systems have a major importance due to the fact that any failure may cause environmental contamination or serious injury. One of the component which protects hydraulic drive systems against excessive rising of working pressure is a safety valve which aim is to maintain pressure in the systems below acceptable level. Pressure control valves which plays important role in a hydraulic systems may have very simple or complex structure. Even in case of the simplest structure of such valve modeling is not an easy task. The new quality in designing hydraulic valves bring CFD method and FSI (Fluid Structure Interaction) methods.

Reliability is a key feature in engineering systems and might be improved by using preventive methods, which allows for identification potential failures and establishing cause-and-effect relationships in consistent and systematic way. One of the popular quality improvement method is FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis). An application of matrix FMEA analysis method on example of flow control valve has been presented and discussed in the work. Presented example shows also a different ways of evaluating failures and theirs influence on analysis results.

Opis:
This article presents results of numerical modelling, simulation and test bench experiments of a hydraulic direct-acting relief valve was used as a safety valve. The analyzed safety valve was placed in a system consisting of a fixed-speed pump, a control valve, a hydraulic cylinder as an actuator and a second pressure valve in the load line used as a payload generator for the cylinder. In the first step mathematical model of the system was formulated in the form of a system of ordinary differential equations. Next, simulation model was created in Matlab/Simulink. Simulations were carried out for different values of the actuator payload. The obtained results include time series of pressure, flow rate and displacement of the actuator piston. In order to confirm simulation results, a test bench was built and series of experiments were carried out. High compliance of simulation and laboratory results was obtained. It was confirmed that the proposed solution with the relief valve used as a safety valve fulfills its task of protecting the hydraulic system from excessive pressure increase.
