    Marius von Mayenburg (born in 1972) is one of the most influential contemporary German playwrights. He is also a stage director and translator who works with the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz in Berlin. He is an artist with the faith in history, as well as in the character. One of the consequences of this faith is The rock, a play written in 2008. This paper examines the Polish productions of this play. The first one was directed by Adam Nalepa and staged at Teatr Wybrzeże in Gdańsk in 2009. This performance was followed by a produc-tion directed by Grzegorz Wiśniewski, staged by the students at the Łódź Film School in 2014 and presented at the Studyjny Theatre. The two productions differ greatly on every level including adherence to the original text, choice of space, as well as acting style
    Marius von Mayenburg (geb. 1972) ist einer der bedeutendsten deutschen Gegenwartsdramatiker, ebenso wie Regisseur und Übersetzer, der mit dem Berliner Theater Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz zusammenarbeitet. Ein Schriftsteller, der an die Geschichte und an seine Helden glaubt. Ein Ergebnis davon ist das Drama Der Stein, das im Jahre 2008 geschrieben wurde. Im vorliegenden Text werden zwei polnische Theateraufführungen gründlich untersucht, einerseits die Uraufführung im Theater Wybrzeże Gdańsk (2009), unter der Regie von Adam Nalepa, sowie andererseits die Diplomaufführung der Studenten der Filmhochschule in Łódź (2014), bei der Grzegorz Wiśniewski Regie führte und das Stück im Theater Studyjny aufgeführt wurde. Die Bühnendarbietungen unterscheiden sich in jeder Hinsicht voneinander, angefangen vom Text, über die Wahl des Spielraums, bis hin zum Spiel der Schauspieler.
    Marius von Mayenburg (ur. 1972), jeden z najważniejszych niemieckich dramatopisarzy współczesnych, jest również reżyserem i tłumaczem współpracującym z berlińską sceną Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz. To artysta, który wierzy w historię i wierzy w postać. Jednym z owoców tej wiary jest Kamień, sztuka napisana w roku 2008. Artykuł proponuje analizę dwóch polskich inscenizacji Kamienia. Pierwsza została wystawiona w roku 2009 w Teatrze Wybrzeże w Gdańsku w reżyserii Adama Nalepy. Druga powstała pięć lat później jako spektakl dyplomowy studentów Łódzkiej Szkoły Filmowej. Na scenie Teatru Studyjnego przygotował ją Grzegorz Wiśniewski. Oba spektakle różnią się znacząco na wielu poziomach, począwszy od stopnia wierności wobec tekstu, poprzez wybór przestrzeni, na stylu aktorstwa skończywszy.

    The article deals with the representation of Edith Stein in contemporary German historical culture. Being complex, Edith Stein’s biography is demanding to describe. Finding a narrative, which would embrace her whole live in a comprehensible way, is therefore a formidable task. The analysis of her representation in German historical culture has revealed that different groups in the German society use certain images of Stein for their own purpose. They choose a convenient part of her life that best supports the purposes of their specific project, be it a school, clinic, church, et cetera. Thus Edith Stein becomes a quarry in which everybody can find what they need to find.

    Am 6. April 1945 wurden im Zuchthaus Stein über 220 vorwiegend politische Gefangene sowie drei antifaschistische Justizwachebeamte und der Anstaltsdirektor von nationalsozialistischen Aufsehern und von Volkssturm-, Waffen-SS- und Wehrmachtsangehörigen erschossen, um die von der Anstaltsleitung angeordnete Entlassung aller Inhaftierten zu verhindern. Am selben Tag wurden dutzende weitere Häftlinge in Krems an der Donau und in der Umgebung, auch unter Mithilfe der lokalen Bevölkerung, ermordet (‚Kremser Hasenjagd‘). 2015 erschien mit ROBERT STREIBELs Roman April in Stein die erste literarische Auseinandersetzung mit diesem NS-Endphaseverbrechen. Wie sich der Autor diesem Themenkomplex nähert, soll nach einem Abriss der Geschehnisse in Krems-Stein im April 1945 und ihrer Darstellung in der medialen Berichterstattung über den Volksgerichtsprozess im August 1946 erörtert werden.
    6 kwietnia 1945 r., w więzieniu Stein nazistowscy nadzorcy, członkowie Waffen-SS, Volkssturmu i Wehrmachtu zastrzelili ponad 220 więźniów (głównie politycznych) a także trzech antyfaszystowskich urzędników sądowych i dyrektora więzienia. Chcieli w ten sposób zapobiec uwolnieniu wszystkich więźniów, zarządzonemu przez kierownictwo zakładu. Kilkudziesięciu kolejnych więźniów – z pomocą okolicznej ludności – zostało zamordowanych w okolicach Krems nad Dunajem (‘̜Polowanie na zające w Krems’). W roku 2015 ukazało się pierwsze literackie rozliczenie z tą ostatnią fazą zbrodni nazistowskich: powieść ROBERTA STREIBLA April in Stein (Kwiecień w Stein). Artykuł informuje krótko o wydarzeniach w Krems i Stein w kwietniu 1945 r. oraz o medialnych sprawozdaniach z procesu sądowego, jaki odbył się w sierpniu 1946 r. Następnie analizuje sposób przedstawienia tej problematyki w powieści.
    On 6 April 1945 over 220 political prisoners from the Stein Penitentiary as well as three antifascist prison guards and the prison director were shot by Nazi guards and members of the Volkssturm, the Waffen-SS and the Wehrmacht in order to prevent the release of all prisoners as ordered by the prison management. The same day in Krems an der Donau and its surroundings dozens of inmates were killed with the active participation of the local population (this event became known as the ‚Kremser Hasenjagd‘ – lit. ,Krems hare hunt‘). ROBERT STREIBELs’ novel April in Stein, a literary exploration of this atrocity committed during the final months of the war, was first published in 2015. After a brief outline of the events that took place in Stein-Krems in April 1945 and their representation in media coverage of the War Crimes Trial before the Austrian People’s Court in August 1946, this paper will discuss how the author approaches this range of complex topics.

    Der vorliegende Aufsatz präsentiert 18 Stein- und Feuersteinfunde unter dem chronologisch-kulturellen, typologischen, technologischen und Rohstoffaspekt, auf dem Hintergrund der Relikte der urgeschichtlichen und frühmittelalterlichen Besiedlung, die aus der Sammlung von P. Robakowski stammen und im nördlichen Teil des Landschaftsparks Lednica freigelegt wurden. Eine Bestimmung der taxonomischen Angehörigkeit war nur bei einem Teil der Funde, d.h. bei einer Feuersteinaxt einer Axt aus Granodiorit und drei Beilen aus Felsenstoff, möglich. Die typologischtechnologischen Eigenschaften von vier anderen Funden lassen die Bestimmung deren chronologischer Position nur mit einer gewissen Wahrscheinlichkeit zu. Für die fünf nächsten Funde, d.h. für zwei Beilfragmente, einen Axthammer, eine Feuersteinaxt und einen Schleifstein, wurde der Zeitraum, mit dem sie verbunden sein konnten, nur allgemein bestimmt. Eine Zuordnung von zwei Funden den konkreten Kulturen oder Kulturzeiträumen war dagegen wegen des Mangels an charakteristischen typologischtechnologischen Eigenschaften unmöglich. Die besprochenen Funde können mit der Besiedlung der neolithischen Kulturen, der Kulturen aus der Bronzezeit und mit dem Frühmittelalter verbunden werden.

    Der Beitrag handelt von der Intensivierung des Produktionsprozesses. Das angestrebte Ziel der Erwägungen ist, die Bedeutsamkeit der auf dem Wege der Effektivitätssteigerung zu erreichenden Intensivierung des gesellschaftlich-industrielen Produktionszyklus zu verdeutlichen, wobei die Effektivitätssteigerung nicht nur als ökonomisches Ergobnis sondern auch als Gesamtheit der Veränderungen, die in de r Verbesserung der Arbeits - und Lebensbedingungen des Menschen zum Ausdruck kommen, aüfgefa&t ist. Eine besondere Rolle beim Intensivierungsprozeß mißt der Verfasser den Kombinaten bei. Es wird gleichzeitig auf den bisherigen Entwicklungsprozeß der Kombinate hingewiesen, woraus ersichtlich ist, daß durch Änderungen wirtschaftlich-organisatorischen Charaktersallein keine außergewöhnlich rasche Steigerung der Effektivität zu erzielen ist. Darüber entscheidet in bedeutendem Маßе eine exakte Ausarbeitung langfristiger Konzeptionen und Pläne sowie die auf das aus gearbeitete Produktionsprofil bezogene, durch Wissenschaft und Technik real isierte Überführungs strategie, die Änderung der Arbeits- und Lebensbedingungen, die Absatzstrategie usw. Der weitere Teil des Beitrags enthalt eine Besprechung der Wissenschaft von der Verwaltungsarbeit und deren Gesetzmäßigkeit. Der Inhalt der Abschlu&erwägungen bezieht sich auf Ausarbeitung und Prüfung der durch Wissenschaft von der Verwaltungsarbeit angebotenen Lösungen.

    The aim of this article is to analyze two novels, namely Nagrobek z lastryko(A Terrazzo Tomb) by Krzysztof Varga and Der Komet (The Comet). Despite the differ-ences that occur between the two novels (a dystopian version of the future in the former, and an alternative history in the latter), the predicted end of the world does not take place, while the apocalypse blurs. Equally resistant to change is also the existing societal structure as the catastrophe does not bring a new hierarchy. Both novels use the images of WWII as the pattern to create the literary vision of a total disaster.

    In this article I discuss St. Augustine’s conception of divine or eternal ideas (rationes divinae or aeternae) in respect to its implications concerning the notion of eternity. The analysis of a passage of De diversis octoginta tribus quaestionibus – a classical formulation of the conception of rationes aetearnae – is contrasted with the XX-century exposition of the problem presented in Edith Stein’s Endliches und ewiges Sein. Versuch eines Aufstiegs zum Sinn des Seins. I discuss parallels between these two conceptions, drawing conclusionsregarding their similarity. An important common denominator in both approachesis the intelligibility of God understood as Logos that manifests itself in creation and canbe an object of human cognition. Eternity is understood not only as an unending state ofconstant timelessness, but also as an cognitive activity of visio beatifica orientated towardsntelligible God.

    This article proposes the thesis that Edith Stein’s late anthropology has a theocentric orientation. The threefold structure of a human being consisting of a body, soul and spirit is examined in order to validate the thesis. First of all, the finitude of a human being points out to the eternal being and – consequently – human beings are not conceivable by themselves, without the context of God. Moreover, the hylomorphic union of the body and soul adopted from Aristotelian and Thomistic philosophy is enriched in Stein’s anthropology by the concept of spirit. This results in a threefold structure and is reason enough to suggest man’s iconic similarity to the Trinity. Furthermore, Stein takes over St. Teresa of Avila’s concept of an internal center of the soul, which can be a meeting point between a person and God. The analysis of the soul’s center supports the main thesis.

    This article discusses the concept of a person in Edith Stein’s philosophical anthropology. It is a key-concept of Stein’s early and later philosophical theories. I discuss the properties and conditions of being a person, in particular: spirituality, rationality, freedom, being an ego and the individuality of persons. Analysis is confronted with the historical beginnings of the term ‘person’. The main focus of the article is the relation between the two concepts: ‘person’ and ‘human being’. Thus, the article’s final section discusses the exclusive character of Stein’s theory of a person.

    Jedno z podstawowych pytań w obszarze badania wartości dotyczy tego, jak rozwijają się postawy wobec wartości oraz jak zmieniają się wartości w biegu życia człowieka. Wartości nie są wrodzone, nawet gdy międzynarodowe badania pokazują, że podstawowe wartości, jak: miłość bliźniego, tolerancja, respekt, a także pożądanie pewności, jawią się we wszystkich kulturach jako obowiązujące. Własna orientacja na wartości kształtuje się w ciągu całego życia. Rozwój postaw wobec wartości nie jest nigdy zamknięty i jest wciąż warunkowany spotkaniem z nowymi ludźmi –– oraz osobistym doświadczeniem życiowym. Istotny wpływ na budowanie własnej orientacji aksjologicznej mają rodzice oraz inni członkowie wspólnoty rodzinnej.
    During researching values, one of many basic questions is about how attitudes towards values develop, how values change during human life. Values are not congenital, even many international researches show that basic values like: love of neighbor, tolerance, respect, and the desire for certainty appear in all cultures as valid. One’s own orientation towards values is shaped throughout life. Development of attitudes towards values is never closed and is still conditioned by meeting new people – and personal life experience. Parents and other members of the family have a significant influence on building their own axiological orientation.

    Artykuł przedstawia „wirtualne” spotkanie dwóch osób, które miały wspólne konteksty i cele, choć różne osobowości: Edyta Stein, żydowska dziewczyna, która stała się karmelitanką, oraz pastor i późniejszy biskup Otto. Oboje mieli związki z Wrocławiem czy to jako miejscem urodzenia (Stein), czy też jako miejscem posługi biskupiej (Zänker) oraz z Münster, gdzie oboje przez kilka lat mieszkali i nauczali. Życie obojga może być ujmowane jako wezwanie do dialogu interkulturowego i ekumenicznego oraz jako przykład zmagania narodu niemieckiego z samym sobą w czasie nazizmu, oboje zatem mogą być wzorem, szczególnie dla młodego pokolenia, wiązania byłych doświadczeń, życia bieżącego i przyszłych wyzwań poprzez dzielenie się i współuczenie się pamięci. W artykule przytacza się list Edyty Stein, który jest zaproszeniem do sformułowania odpowiedzi przez Zänkera i tym samym do rozważenia okoliczności korelacji między kulturami i postawami w latach trzydziestych XX wieku oraz dzisiaj. Der Bischof und die Nonne – Münster und Breslau als Erinnerungsorte Dabei zeigte sich auch der Wert von partnerschaftlichen Begegnungen, die ein mit- und voneinander lernen ermöglichen. Im Folgenden soll am Beispiel der „virtuellen“ Beziehungen zwischen Münster und Breslau in diesem Sinne aufgezeigt werden, wie in ökumenischer Gemeinschaft Erinnerungslernen möglich sein könnte. Dabei stehen zwei Persönlichkeiten im Mittelpunkt, die in ihrer Biografie beide Städte aber auch den ökumenischen Gedanken repräsentieren: Edith Stein und Otto Zänker.
    The article presents a “virtual” letter encounter between two persons, who have particular backgrounds and purposes in common, although they are contrary personalities: the former Jewish girl and later Carmelitan nun Edith Stein, and the pastor and later bishop Otto Zänker. Both have relations with Breslau as the birth place (Stein) or Bishop place (Zänker) and with Münster, where both, separated only by a few years, lived and taught for several years. Both personalities stand for the common challenge of intercultural and ecumenical dialogue, and of German coping with the Nazi era, and, therefore, for the purpose to combine past experiences, current life and future challenges by remembrance sharing and mutual learning, particular for the young generation. Therefore, only one letter (of Edith Stein) is presented as invitation to formulate Zänker’s answer, and, thus, considering the complex situation in the 1930s and today between cultures and attitudes.

    Socialist market economy or more broadly China’s road to socialism is a subject of controversy not only in China itself, but also in the international community. This issue is very complex on many levels. From the very beginning of the formation of the CPC it had to pursue different goals and face completely different challenges than its European counterparts. Due to its cultural and civilization distinctiveness, China had to choose its own path to socialism and its construction. During the times of Deng Xiaoping the Chinese economy opened to the influence of foreign capital, which allowed, on the one hand, to significantly accelerate China’s economic development and raise its position in the international arena, and on the other hand, it was the cause of much controversy.

    Edith Stein is widely recognised as a saint, a martyr, a victim of the Holocaust and a female philosopher – but can she be a Doctor of the Church? So far, thirty-seven figures, including four women, carry the title due to their so-called ‘eminent doctrines’, eminentes doctrinae. For centuries, a procedural difficulty existed in awarding the titles to martyrs, however, in the second decade of the 21st century, the Congregation for the Causes of Saints reached a conclusion that martyrdom is not, in principle, an obstacle in awarding the title. A question, therefore, can be posed: does the legacy of someone among the Christian martyrs fulfill the criteria of the Church’s Doctorate? The aim of this article is to investigate the criteria for conferral of the title of the Doctor of the Church, prime among which is a criterion called eminens doctrina, and apply them to one example, that of Edith Stein. In doing so, I consider the question purely historically and philosophically, starting out with definitions of the Father of the Church and the Doctor of the Church in part one (available below). In the second part of the article (available in 2024), I ask what aspects of the female martyr’s theology, philosophy and spirituality fulfill the criteria of an eminent doctrine, as formulated in the Church’s documents, and which are insufficient or lacking. In order to highlight the nature of a particular criterion, I contrast Stein’s case with other recently debated cases, such as those of Irenaeus of Lyons and John Paul II.
