- Over the last fifty years the Department of Publications has conducted its statutory tasks, publishing a range of cartographic and text contributions. During all these years, serial maps, geological-tourist maps, guides and atlases have been published. The Polish Geological Institute - National Research Institute is the publisher of the leading Polish journals: English-language Geological Quarterly (listed in the Journal Citation Reports database) and Polish-language monthly Przegląd Geologiczny, as well as the co-publisher of the annual Volumina Jurassica. In addition to these important journals, there is a number ofpublishing series, such as: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego, Prace Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego, Polish Geological Institute Special Papers, and Profile Głębokich Otworów Wiertniczych. Apartfrom the publications issued on a regular basis, the Department ofPublications also publishes books from the series Wokół Geologii, conference and informational materials, and books for young readers (Nie tylko dinozaury, Sezam Polski). Despite the huge amount of tasks, the Department of Publications is constantly trying to improve the substantive and technical level of its works so that the publications of the Polish Geological Institute will always be at the world’s highest level.
