This question has entered to history of the European culture not only in the version of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, but also as Pilate’s question. However, is this question every time about the same? Or is its intellectual version, which we deal with in philosophy, equivalent with the religious formula? Ancient philosophers, such as Descartes or Aristotle have already studied the question of truth. Truth is not an issue completely clear for man. Despite so many clear definitions, it does not give us full form of the notion of truth. All these centuries various inquires did not give us any answers. Every of definitions of truth shows us how to act, and according to which rules. We can agree on the classic definition of truth or reject it.

Można wskazać dwa podstawowe kryteria racjonalności wnioskowania: koherencyjne i korespondencyjne. Stosując pierwsze z nich, uznamy wnioskowanie za racjonalne, kiedy będzie ono przebiegać zgodnie z pewnymi ustalonymi normami (np. logiką, prawami rachunku prawdopodobieństwa), stosując drugie – oczekujemy od wnioskowania, aby jego wniosek był prawdziwy (lub przynajmniej bliski prawdzie). W artykule została omówiona wzajemna relacja między tymi różnymi kryteriami racjonalności oraz ich związek z typem środowiska, którego wnioskowanie dotyczy.

The paper presents the possibility of using modern materials base, dedicated to the production ofhigh-current PCB, made on a metal substrate. These materials were widely used in the world, especially in theautomotive industry, the modern installations of LED lighting and low-voltage power electronic converters.The reality of the national use of these materials have so far limited mainly to lighting systems. Increasing the range of many domestic manufacturers of circuit boards made in IMS makes growing interest in this technology and develop new projects in which it applies.
W artykule przedstawiono możliwości zastosowania nowoczesnych materiałów bazowych, dedykowanych do produkcji silnoprądowych obwodów drukowanych, wykonanych na podłożu metalowym. Materiały te znalazły w świecie szerokie zastosowanie, szczególnie w branży automotive, w nowoczesnych instalacjach oświetleniowych LED oraz w niskonapięciowych przekształtnikach energoelektronicznych. W realiach krajowych zastosowanie tych materiałów ograniczało się dotychczas przede wszystkim do instalacji oświetleniowych. Wzbogacenie oferty wielu krajowych producentów obwodów drukowanych o obwody wykonane w technologii IMS powoduje, że zainteresowanie tą technologią wzrasta i pojawiają się nowe projekty, w których znajduje ona zastosowanie.

Opis:
The concept of conscience is analyzed here in two different ways: the systematic and the historical-literary. As to the first, systematic perspective, I distinguish (in part 1) three levels of conscience and on every level I identify two opposite categories (conscience that is ‛individual’ versus ‛collective’; ‛emotional’ versus ‛intellectual’; ‛motivating ex ante’ versus ‛evaluating ex post’). In the second, historical-literary perspective, I analyze two literary cases of fictional characters usually thought of as being guided or affected by conscience. The first case is the ancient Greek tragedy and here I offer (in part 2) a comment on the Sophoclean Antigone and the Euripidean Orestes presenting them both as dramas that contain an exemplary formulation of the phenomenon of conscience. Although Antigone and Orestes express their main principles of action in apparently different words, I suggest (in part 3) the two poetical visions of conscience are equally based upon a highly emotional behavior called pathos by the Greek. Thereby I provide a reason, why ancient philosophers created a new concept of conscience intended as an alternative to the poetical vision of human behavior. The new philosophical concept of conscience was based upon an axiological behavior called ethos. I also coin (in part 4) a concept of the ‛community of conscience’ where I distinguish four ‛aspects of solidarity’ in conscience, namely, somebody’s own self, a group of significant persons, a group of the same moral principles, and a sameness of life. In the end I turn (in part 5) to a historical-literary case in Joseph Conrad’s last novel The Rover (1923), which provoked a lively discussion among Polish authors and seems useful as an illustration of several levels of ‛solidarity of conscience’.

The paper constitutes a general introduction to the biology and application of bacterial plasmids. The current definition of a plasmid is given as well as historical background of the discovery of plasmids and early plasmid research. Plasmid structure and size range are presented. The rules recommended for proper plasmid naming and classification are given. The methods of plasmid identification in bacterial cells and its isolation in the form of purified DNA preparations are summarized, followed by the scheme of a typical procedure for plasmid characterization.

Functional History and Theory of the Media
Opis:
What is a Medium?At the beginning the author expresses his opinion that there is a national confusion which nowadays prevails about the nation of medium. His explications, in which he reminds his readers about the indirectness of media communication, are of historical character and expose numerous examples of notional abuse. One of the these states that without defining, in the broadest possible way, the notion of medium, which is a crucial one for media studies, it appears tha any systematic scientific reflection is impossible. As a remedy for the notional confusion, acceptance of the realistic definition of medium which was worked out by Werner Faulstich and based on the theoretical concept of Urlich Saxer („media are systems which solve problems”) is suggested. Therefore, that definition, four dimensions of which define the bases of empirical media studies, means the symbolic „patricide” of the main founder of modern media studies Marshall McLuhan and makes empirical, functional history and theory of the media possible.
