    As a result of archaeological research conducted in the years 2010 and 2011, related to reconstruction of Jan Paweł II square in Ciechanów, 11 graves of the Lusatian Culture, dated back to the Bronze Age (the end of the 4th Bronze Age period) were discovered. The Lusatian culture necropolis discovered in the centre of Ciechanów is yet another point of stable settlement of advanced Bronze Age in this part of Mazovia. Its form and characteristics do not differ substantially from standards used on burial grounds of Lusatian culture people in this part of Poland.

    The article presents results of the anthropological analysis concerning burned skeletal remains coming from 11 urn graves, from the period of the Lusatian culture (the end of the IV Bronze Age period), explored at Jan Paweł II square in Ciechanów, the Mazowieckie Voivodeship. It was determined that human cremated remains belonged to 13 people: three children deceased at the age of infans I (2 children) and infans II (one child), one deceased at the age of juvenis, as well as three women deceased at the age of adultus (2 women) and above 25 years of age (one woman), four men deceased at the age of adultus (one man), adultus/maturus (one man) and maturus (2 men) and 2 people with an undefined sex deceased at the age above 20 years of age.

    Opis:
    In the course of investment works conducted in the season of 2011 at the Jan Paweł II square in Ciechanów the remains of the population of the Przeworsk culture from the turn of the early and late and Pre-Roman period were discovered. In total 34 features of the Przeworsk culture were located, determined on the basis of ceramic material or by the stratigraphic context. The features included 11 postholes, 22 utility pits and storage pits and one hearth. Altogether, a set of 922 ceramics fragments was obtained, of which 93% comes from fills of the features. It demonstrates (typical of this type of materials) co-existence of styling trends typical of old pre-Roman tradition coming from the Jastorf and the Pomeranian and early Pre-Roman area, connected with the La Tene tradition. From the point of view of the development of the Przeworsk culture settlement functioning was determined as phase A1, not later than phase A2, therefore the post in Ciechanów becomes an important point of the turn of the early and late Pre-Roman period on the settlement map of the northern Mazovia.

    Artykuł przedstawia przygotowania i realizację operacji wprowadzenia stanu wojennego w województwie ciechanowskim w świetle materiałów archiwalnych Komendy Wojewódzkiej Milicji Obywatelskiej w Ciechanowie oraz Wojewódzkiego Sztabu Wojskowego w Ciechanowie. Ponadto w pracy zostały wykorzystane dokumenty osób internowanych w ośrodku odosobnienia w Iławie i Kwidzyniu. Poza przygotowaniami do wprowadzenia stanu wojennego ze strony milicji i wojska, przedstawionymi w kontekście przygotowań w skali całego kraju, szczegółowo opisany został przebieg akcji „Azalia”, akcji „Jodła”, akcji „Klon” oraz działania wojskowych grup operacyjnych, a także pełnomocników Komitetu Obrony Kraju na terenie województwa ciechanowskiego.
    The article presents the preparation and implementation of martial law in the Ciechanów Province in the light of the archival materials of the Provincial Citizens’ Militia Headquarters in Ciechanów and the Provincial Military Staff in Ciechanów. In addition, the study used documents of people interned in detention centers in Iława and Kwidzyn. Apart from the preparations for the imposition of martial law on the part of the militia and the army, presented in the context of preparations on a national scale, the course of the “Azalia,” “Fir,” and “Klon” operations and the activities of military operational groups as well as representatives of the National Defense Committee in the Ciechanów Voivodeship were described in detail.

    Działalność Wydziałów do Spraw Wyznań Urzędów Wojewódzkich w Ciechanowie i w Płocku w latach 1975-1989, formalnie podległych wojewodom utworzonych w 1975 r. nowych województw, jak również Urzędowi do Spraw Wyznań w Warszawie, była jedną z form realizacji polityki wyznaniowej władz PRL. Poza licznymi dokumentami tych wydziałów, które przechowywane są obecnie w Archiwum Państwowym w Warszawie Oddział w Mławie (zespół: Urząd Wojewódzki w Ciechanowie) oraz w Archiwum Państwowym w Płocku (zespół: Urząd Wojewódzki w Płocku), zachowało się również wiele dokumentów, które przechowywane są w Archiwum Akt Nowych w Warszawie (zespół: Urząd do Spraw Wyznań). W niniejszym wyborze opublikowano 11 spośród tych dokumentów, dotyczące rozmów z duchownymi prowadzonymi na spotkaniach z wojewodami oraz z pracownikami wydziałów, sprawozdania statystyczne na temat kształtowania się stosunków wyznaniowych w poszczególnych województwach, sprawozdania i plany roczne o sytuacji wyznaniowej oraz działalności wydziałów oraz dokumenty powizytacyjne Wydziałów do Spraw Wyznań w Ciechanowie i w Płocku.
    The activity of the Religious Affairs Departments of the Provincial Offices in Ciechanów and Płock in the years 1975-1989, formally subordinate to the provincial governors of the new provinces established in 1975, as well as the Office for Religious Affairs in Warsaw, was one of the forms of implementing the religious policy of communist authorities. Apart from these departments’ numerous documents, which are currently kept in the State Archives in Warsaw, Mława Branch (team: Voivodeship Office in Ciechanów) and in the State Archives in Płock (team: Provincial Office in Płock), many documents have also been preserved and are kept at the Archives of New Records in Warsaw (team: Office for Religious Affairs). In this selection, 11 of these documents have been published, concerning conversations with clergy conducted at meetings with voivodes and employees of departments, statistical reports on the shaping of religious relations in individual provinces, reports and annual plans on the religious situation and the activities of departments as well as post-visit documents of the Departments for Religious Affairs in Ciechanów and Płock.
