This paper presents some results of the study employing the Quality of Life (QOL) index that was initiated in China during 1980s. Currently, some progress has been made in the research field. For one thing, many researchers defined QOL as a composite structure which included subjective and objective elements. Considerable summary of well-being indices has been constructed from different analysis units (e.g., cities, province, and nations). For another, statistical methods played an important part in determining the weights of these indices, either objective weighting or subjective weighting. This paper defines the concept of QOL as the quality of people's being, which is used in analyzing the well-being of people' living condition and also reflected their subjective well-being to the living condition. Based on this concept, an analytical system of Chinese people's well-being was elaborated. 115 indices from five aspects reflecting the characteristics of the Chinese people's objective well-being have been initially proposed. Economic well-being, health and basic survival well-being, social well-being, cultural well-being, political well-being and environmental well-being have been taken into consideration. Through the analysis of content validity of experts and correlation analysis, 58 indices were selected. The weights of the subjective and objective indices were determined through analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and principal component method respectively. By combining the weight coefficients obtained from the two approaches, the composite indicator of Chinese people’s objective well-being was performed and the objective well-being level of 30 Chinese provinces was evaluated.

The Chinese version of Rest’s Defining Issues Test II was administered to 113 subjects in Mainland China (n=113, average age=34.7). The scores on development of moral judgment were compared with those of the online mega sample of American participants from 2011 to 2014. Results are as followings: 1. Chinese participants show the same pattern with Americans by both sex and education. 2. Chinese participants show different pattern from Americans by religious orthodoxy and humanitarian. 3. Chinese participants score higher in meaningless items than Americans. 4. Chinese participants score higher in stage 3 while Americans score higher in stage 4. The authors draw the conclusions as follows: with Chinese participants, 1. There is a significant relationship between education and moral judgment developmental index scores. 2. There is also a significant relationship between sex and moral judgment developmental index scores. 3. There shows no significant relationship between religious orthodoxy and moral judgment developmental index scores. 4. It is more difficult for them to tell the meaningless items in DIT2. 5. Since Chinese culture thinks less of laws and norms, Chinese participants favour personal interest schema more than maintaining norms schema.

The purpose of this paper was to (1) examine moral judgment competency of a sample of 811 Chinese college students from a Southern university in mainland China with DIT-2; and (2) test whether gender, education, major, academic performance, and one-child policy have significant effect on the participants’ moral judgment competency. Results show that the participants score high in both Personal Interest schema and Postconventional schema, while low in Maintaining Norms schema. Gender and major have significant effect on participants’ moral judgment competency in China, while education level, academic performance and one-child family have no significant effect on their moral judgment competency. Reasons are discussed in the paper.

This paper presents a teaching innovation that has proved successful in stimulating the in-class participation and learning effectiveness of Asian students. The sample population of the research was the teachers and the students of universities in Taiwan and Mainland China. Convenience sampling was used. Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) was used to explore the feedback of learning course. The research results showed that (1) students in Taiwan and Mainland China both have a good confience in attendance and teamwork projects at the beginning of the course and; (2) Taiwanese students are confient in their own creativity and application ability at the beginning of the course and students from Mainland China have a regular habit of reading relevant marketing books.

Opis:
Technology advancement has seemingly made the world smaller, especially with the existence of tools such as a cell phone. Along with this development, new method of marketing and promotion has been formed. One of these strategies is the use of micro cinema. After suffiient background study on the factors that seemed to affect the effectiveness of micro cinema, these factors were then used to study the response by Taiwanese students and a working group as well as the working group from Mainland China. Responses obtained from all groups were then analyzed using grey relational analysis (GRA) and then further analyzed using the modifid dramaturgy model by Grove et al. (1992). The result obtained can be used to represent the important factors in micro cinema affecting each group.

In order to provide reference for intervention of school adaptation to special schools and improve the adaptation level of children with disabilities to their school life, this study investigated the current situation of school adaptation among children in Peizhi department of special schools. The sample comprised by 197 pupils from 1st to 3rd grades in 9 special schools in Sichuan province of mainland China. Brief Demographic Questionnaire and School Adaptation Assessment Scale for Children with Disabilities were used to collect data. The results show that the overall situation of school adaptation for children with developmental disabilities is not satisfying and especially need to be improved in the dimensions of resource utilization& rule adaptation, interpersonal communication & activity participation, and academic activities & common sense accumulation. Moreover, there is no significant gender or geographical differences of school adaptation. However, significant variances are existing among children with different types of disabilities with the best school adaptation among children with intellectual disabilities and worst among children with multiple disabilities. And there are significant differences in school adaptation among children at different ages. The adaptation of older children is significantly better than that of younger children.
Artykuł przedstawia wyniki badań dotyczących poziomu adaptacji szkolnej uczniów szkół specjalnych podlegających wydziałowi edukacji dla dzieci z zaburzeniami rozwojowymi. Jego celem była analiza obecnej sytuacji oraz opracowanie wskazań odnośnie interwencji i wspomagania procesu adaptacji dzieci z zaburzeniami rozwojowymi do życia szkolnego. Badaniami objęto 9 szkół specjalnych w prowincji Sihuan w Chinach kontynentalnych, grupa badawcza liczyła łącznie 197 uczniów klas I-III. Do zebrania danych wykorzystano Brief Demographic Questionnaire (Skrócony Kwestionariusz Demograficzny) oraz School Adaptation Assessment Scale for Children with Disabilities (Kwestionariusz Oceny Adaptacji Szkolnej Uczniów z Niepełnosprawnościami). Uzyskane rezultaty pokazują, że poziom przystosowania do życia szkolnego uczniów z zaburzeniami rozwojowymi nie jest zadowalający i wymaga poprawy przede wszystkim w zakresie takich wymiarów jak: wykorzystanie zasobów i adaptacja do zasad, komunikacja interpersonalna i uczestnictwo w zajęciach, aktywności szkolne i przyrost wiedzy. Płeć i czynniki geograficzne nie różnicują istotnie uzyskanych wyników, stwierdzono natomiast, że istnieją znaczne różnice między dziećmi z różnymi rodzajami niepełnosprawności, wśród których najlepiej adaptują się do życia szkolnego dzieci z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną, a najniższy poziom adaptacji wykazują dzieci z niepełnosprawnością sprzężoną. Stwierdzono także istotne różnice w adaptacji wśród dzieci w różnym wieku. Poziom adaptacji starszych uczniów jest znacząco wyższy niż młodszych dzieci.

This paper reported characteristics of aerial photographs of mainland China taken by U-2 spy planes, which were archived and made public in NARA II of USA, and discussed the possibility to use them for environmental studies. U-2 photographs of China, which have high ground resolution of about 75cm were mainly taken in the first half of 1960s. Large amount of photographs including oblique photos as well as overlapped vertical photos covers vast range of China and enable us to use for detailed stereoscopic interpretation as well as creating ortho photos and digital surface models. Case studies in Loess Plateau (Shaanxi Province, China) showed the possibility of detailed observations of land features and land uses such as cave dwellings, check dams, agricultural terraces and cultivated crops, as well as estimation of the amount of gully erosion. In the process of archival research in NARA II, however, various inconveniences were found and improvement of retrieval system were desired.
W artykule opisano charakterystykę zdjęć lotniczych Chin kontynentalnych wykonanych przez samoloty szpiegowskie U-2, które zostały zarchiwizowane i upublicznione w NARA II w USA, a także omówiono możliwości wykorzystania ich w studiach ochrony środowiska. Fotografie lotnicze z samolotów U-2, wykonanych nad terytorium Chin, mają wysoką rozdzielczość terenową, wynoszącą około 75 cm, zostały wykonane głównie w pierwszej połowie lat sześćdziesiątych XX wieku. Duża liczba zdjęć, w tym zdjęcia skośne, a także zdjęcia pionowe w pokryciu stereoskopowym obejmują znaczną powierzchnię Chin. Pozwalają one na szczegółową interpretację stereoskopową, jak również na tworzenie ortozdjęć i cyfrowych modeli terenu. Studia przypadków na płaskowyżu lessowym (prowincja Shaanxi, Chiny) wskazały na możliwość szczegółowych obserwacji cech terenu i użytkowania gruntów, takich jak mieszkania w jaskiniach, tamy kontrolne, tarasy rolnicze i pola uprawne, a także oszacowanie wielkości erozji. W procesie korzystania z archiwalnych zasobów zdjęć w NARA II (National Archives and Records Administration - USA) stwierdzono różne niedogodności i pożądane było ulepszenie systemu pobierania zdjęć.

The research purpose was to examine the success of the Polish stage director Krystian Lupa’s performances presented in mainland China. The content of the study was divided into two separate articles. In the first article “The success of Polish stage director Krystian Lupa’s performances “Persona. Marylin” and “Wycinka” [Woodcutters] in mainland China – analysis of the phenomenon based on the organizers’ report”, the main source of research is the interview with Marcin Jacoby, who at that time was the manager of the Asia Project in the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, which is a prime mover of Polish contemporary theatre display in China. Lupa’s performances in China were displayed in Hong Kong at first, but at that time did not achieve any success. While the Chinese people were used to theatre involved in social issues, sated with a constructive image of the world and the place of the individual within society, Polish theatre plays encountered all-encompassing misapprehension. As Polish organisers often mentioned in media, the base for the breakthrough was a collaboration with the director of the newly-created Tianjin Grand Theatre, who invited Kristian Lupa with his “Persona: Marilyn” to continental China for the first time, while at the same time taking care of very good promotion and media coverage. In the first article, all “back room” activities that could contribute to success of  Lupa’s performances in China were included. An unveiling of these arrangements can help the reader understand what constitutes a success of Polish modern theatre in China.

This publication is the second part of the article entitled “The success of Polish stage director Krystian Lupa’s performances Persona. Marylin and Woodcutters in mainland China”. The second part is an in-depth research of Chinese spectators’ reaction and official reviews. In this part, the writer scrutinises the background of Polish director Krystian Lupa’s performances played in China, namely: the purpose of invitation, accessible knowledge about Kristin Lupa in China, Chinese spectators’ spontaneous reactions (recorded by local TV and noted on unofficial sites), theatrical environment backstage commentaries and official press reviews. Seeking for appropriate data is one of the most difficult issues that the writer had to deal with. A major part of the content was available only via Internet, the ephemeral nature of which was another difficulty in conducting the study. All the content was previously translated into Polish. As the translation was a part of the writer’s examination, it also required valuable input. Through the thesis, the author seeks for the component of the plays that the Chinese press reviewers pinpointed as the most significant, as well as provides a detailed analysis of the differences between interpretations among Polish and Chinese audiences and links them to a particular sensitivity of these two cultures. At the same time, the thesis shows how interdisciplinary theatre can conquer culture conflicts and how meaningful are similar historical experiences.

Shakespeare studies in Mainland China and Taiwan evolved from the same origin during the two centuries after Shakespeare being introduced into China in the early nineteenth century. Although Shakespeare was first seen on the Taiwan stage in the Japanese language during the colonial period, it was after Kuomintang moved to Taiwan in 1949 that Shakespeare studies began to flourish when scholars and theatrical experts from mainland China, such as Liang Shih-Chiu, Yu Er-Chang, Wang Sheng-shan and others brought Chinese Shakespeare to Taiwan. Since the 1980s, mainland Shakespeareans began to communicate actively with their colleagues in Taiwan. With the continuous efforts of Cao Yu, Fang Ping, Meng Xianqiang, Gu Zhengkun, Yang Lingui and many other scholars in mainland China and Chu Li-Min, Yen Yuan-shu, Perng Ching-Hsi and other scholars in Taiwan, communications and conversations on Shakespeare studies across the Taiwan Strait were gradually enhanced in recent years. Meanwhile, innovations in Chinese adaptations of Shakespeare have resulted in a new performing medium, Shake-xiqu, through which theatrical practitioners on both sides explore possibilities of a union of Shakespeare and traditional Chinese theatre. This paper studies some intricate relationship in the history of Shakespeare studies in mainland China and Taiwan from a developmental perspective and suggests opportunities for positive and effective co-operations and interactions in the future.

In order to understand value recognition deeply, the research was taken to 1128 Xingjiang minority college students in inner-mainland 36 universities of China by the questionnaire with five dimensions which political value, moral value, cultural psychology, language stress and environmental stress. The result showed that there was an order tendency in their values, in order, cultural psychology, moral values, political values, language stress and environmental stress. At the same time, there are gander differences. Male and female college students do not exist significant differences in cultural psychology and moral value dimensions. But the differences being in the political values, language stress and environmental stress. Xinjiang minority college students are fundamentally the same as Han nationality students in political values and moral values, but obvious differences in cultural psychology, language stress and environmental stress.
