Insects are depends upon autotrophs and they attract by the flowers colour and shape as pollinator. This is a mutual relationship between flowers and insects. The present study aims to determine flower visiting insect diversity as pollinators in two parks as biomonitoring of automobile air pollution exposure, landscape changes and/or human interactions. The study areas were selected as per heavily-populated neighborhoods, nearby office buildings, nearby roads and continuous vehicular movements, human interactions as visitors, where fences and high levels of human disturbance are common. The study was carried out at 2 sampling stations viz (i) Elliot park and (ii) Agri-Horticulture Society. The flower species were selected viz. Helianthus annuus, Petunia sp. and Buganvilia spectabilis planting above mentioned areas because these species are more common among other species. In each flower, diversity of visiting insects were studied by qualitative and quantitative assessment. Indices were Species richness, Index of Dominance, Relative abundance, Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index and Evenness Index for insects for all selected sites were calculated using the statistical formulae. The present results clearly indicate that the flower visiting insects are very less in numbers on three flowering species and index values were decreased. This study is a preliminary assessment of flower visiting insects diversity but further researches are needed in relation to pollination efficiencies of flower visiting insects and biochemical and genetic damage study of flowers as well as air pollution load by using instruments. It was concluded that three flowering species viz. sunflower, petunia and bougainvillea are very common both the parks but insect visitors are common but present less in number, which may be due to the vehicular pollution and/or human interference and/or landscape changes due to nearby neighborhood blocks, office and residential buildings etc.

Opis:
Wprowadzając termin syndemiocen, artykuł proponuje przegląd najbardziej znanych nazw nowej epoki w dziejach Ziemi. Przynajmniej część z nich podważa zasadność absolutyzacji dyskursu na temat antropocenu, proponując wielość perspektyw i ujęć. Dlaczego to istotne, pokazuje analiza dwóch powieści o epidemiach: The Calcutta Chromosome (1995) Amitava Ghosha i The Blood Artists Chucka Hogana (1998).
Introducing a new term, “Syndemiocene,” this article looks closely at a few chosen names of the new age in the Earth’s history. Many of them criticize the monolithic discourse of the Anthropocene, choosing the multiplicity of approaches and perspectives instead. The article explains why this is so important and provides a close reading of two novels: Amitav Ghosh’s The Calcutta Chromosome (1995) and Chuck Hogan’s The Blood Artists (1998). Both not only subvert the medicalizing approaches to defining and fighting off epidemics but also perform two subversive narrative models of the Moderns, revealing how they have disseminated various anthropogenic discourses and practices.

The “dark night” – painful feeling being abandoned by God – was experienced by many masters of spiritual life, by saint John of Cross as well as by blessed Mother Teresa, as is shown in her memoirs. Authoress claims that, paradoxically, this apparently declining experience is just a stage that has to be passed in order to achieve fullness of mystic insight and spiritual growth. Doubts, grief, lack of power and will – all this feelings are not the symptoms of spiritual collapse but a steps on a way into holiness. The God is the one who gives the power to overcome typically human weaknesses andcrises (solitude, isolation, adversities).

Opis:
The ancient Christian tradition considered the allegorical interpretation of the Bible as an important mean of spiritual formation in the life of the Church. This approach to the Biblical text has been neglected in modern times due to the use of historical-critical methods in the Biblical exegesis. However, it seems that the intuitions of the Fathers of the Church may still be inspiring, especially for certain spiritual actualizations of the Scripture. In some contexts of the life of the Church, e.g. spiritual retreats, the symbolical and allegorical reading of the Bible can be still fruitful, especially in connection with new spiritualties emerging in modern times. Even more, the access to critical editions of patristic works and the semiotic approach to the Biblical text make possible new understandings that may enrich the living tradition of Biblical interpretation.

Opis:
In the first part of the paper we characterize her family home and adolescence up to the beginning of her apostleship of love. In the second part we have discussed her main formative ideas. Her family milieu was the first place of a profound religious formation and a ministry on behalf of all the people, especially those who suffer. The attitude of Mother Teresa of Calcutta and her sisters is characterized by a total devotion to God, full of trust and kindness. The aim of her activity was to "satisfy the thirst of Jesus Crucified" through the love of God. Each individual man was important for her, irrespectively of what he is and what his beliefs are, for every man is the child of God. Mother Teresa encourages us to do beautiful things for God, for life gives us a lot of opportunities. Prayer and internal silence are important in the life of each man, they flow straight from the heart. Love requires time, devotion and sacrifice. Love begins in our hearts. One should not be afraid of showing love, for it brings us closer to God. Mother Teresa responded to the gift of woman’s vocation with all her life, showing that a determined, brave woman, with a strong will, sacrificing all her life, is able to solve some matters. The testimony of her life infects others, radiating in all directions. As Martini writes, she is our model for the beginning of the new century.

Indices were Species richness, Index of Dominance, Relative abundance, Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index and Evenness Index for birds for all selected sites were calculated using the statistical formulae. The present results as bioindicators bird species clearly indicate that the bird species are very few in numbers in both the parks. When comparison made between both the parks, it was observed less number of bird varieties (16 types) in Elliot park than varieties (9 types) more less in number in Agri-horticulture society. This study is a preliminary assessment of bird diversity but further researches are needed in relation to biochemical and genetic damage study as well as air pollution load by using instruments. In the present study it was concluded that the less numbers of birds and their different diversity indices were found a decreasing trends, though there no attempt has been made on physico-chemical properties of present air pollutants. The less number of varieties of bird species are as tolerant bioindicators, which may be due to the vehicular pollution and/or human interference and/or landscape changes due to nearby neighborhood blocks, office and residential buildings, continuous movement of vehicles etc.

Opis:
India has the longest engagement with Shakespeare of any non-Western country. In the eastern Indian region of Bengal, contact with Shakespeare began in the eighteenth century. His plays were read and acted in newly established English schools, and performed professionally in new English theatres. A paradigm shift came with the foundation of the Hindu College in Calcutta in 1817. Shakespeare featured largely in this new ‘English education’, taught first by Englishmen and, from the start of the twentieth century, by a distinguished line of Indian scholars. Simultaneously, the Shakespearean model melded with traditional Bengali popular drama to create a new professional urban Bengali theatre. The close interaction between page and stage also evinced a certain tension. The highly indigenized theatre assimilated Shakespeare in a varied synthesis, while academic interest focused increasingly on Shakespeare’s own text. Beyond the theatre and the classroom, Shakespeare reached out to a wider public, largely as a read rather than performed text. He was widely read in translation, most often in prose versions and loose adaptations. His readership extended to women, and to people outside the city who could not visit the theatre. Thus Shakespeare became part of the shared heritage of the entire educated middle class. Bengali literature since the late nineteenth century testifies strongly to this trend, often inducing a comparison with the Sanskrit dramatist Kalidasa. Most importantly, Shakespeare became part of the common currency of cultural and intellectual exchange.
