The aim of the research: To show and approve the importance of transformation processes in society and features of a modern personality reacting. Methods of the research: Critical analysis of scientific sources, as well as modern results of practical experience, clarification, analysis of terminological concepts, synthesis, systematization, generalization of basic concepts. Conclusions. In ralation to rapid changes in all spheres of life, that results to system changes in society in the sphere of interpersonal mutual relations, in technical environment and others, there is an actual necessity of a modern personality’s adaptation for different age to the transforming conditions. If a personality cannot, or has no time to adapt to change, his/her own algorithms of behaviour, a way of thinking, a way of life, it can result to exclusion, cognitive dissonance, physical and psychical diseases, as the result of such exclusion.

Introduction and aim. Determining the needs of children hospitalized for treatment is important in terms of identifying children who are more at risk and developing support systems for the child and the family. We aimed to test the validity and reliability of the Turkish needs of children questionnaire (NCQ) and cross-culturally adapt it to the Turkish language. Material and methods. This cross-sectional study was conducted using a total of 160 children aged 5-16 years who were hospitalized between May 2021 and May 2022. The linguistic, content validity, construct validity, and internal consistency of NCQ were assessed. Results. NCQ had a four-factor structure consisting of two categories and explained 76% of the total variance. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were 0.748, 0.799, 0.821, and 0.802 for the subscales of Caring, Information, Activities, and Relationships, respectively; and 0.893 for the total score. Inter-item correlations ranged from 0.149 to 0.702 (p<0.05). Conclusion. NCQ has a high level of validity and reliability for Turkish society. Turkish children aged 5 to 16 years were able to comprehend this instrument and express their needs and feelings about their hospitalization period.

Introduction and aim. The period immediately after leaving the hospital is known as the transition home, which presents a critical time for parents to take on all the responsibilities and care of a child without the support of the hospital environment. The purpose of this study is to culturally adapt the Pediatric Transition Experience Measure (P-TEM) instrument into Turkish and test its validity and reliability. Material and methods. We conducted this methodological study with parents of children who were discharged from the hospital between May 2021 and May 2022. We evaluated linguistic, content, construct, convergent validity, and internal consistency. Results. The P-TEM exhibited a two-factor structure and accounted for 65% of the overall variability. The internal consistency reliability for the transition preparation and transition support subdimensions was 0.779 and 0.793, respectively, while the total measure had a reliability of 0.831. The item-total correlations for the P-TEM ranged from 0.493 to 0.671. Parents who received the highest P-TEM scores experienced a 5.1-point improvement (95% confidence interval: 1.7 to 8.6) in their satisfaction with healthcare services, which was greater than that of parents who reported lower P-TEM scores. Conclusion. It is worth noting that the P-TEM has been validated and has high reliability in Türkiye.

This article relates to the process of adaptation of Czech citizens to Turkish culture. The article explores the perception of Turkish culture by Czech citizens, problems they encounter in the Turkish society and the ways of their adjustment to the host culture. The empirical research on 10 Czech citizens was conducted using the method of semi-structured interviews. The article addresses the most important issues connected with the process of cultural adaptation.

Increased migration to Poland and at the same time an increase in anti-immigrant attitudes cause that social pedagoguesface a new challenge related to the integration andinclusion of migrants. In the article I focus on a transformation of social pedagogues roles due to the mentioned above social changes and new challenges – the discourse the introduces symbolic violence, learned helplessness and lack of agency of migrants, and the insufficient number of social pedagogues with intercultural and andragogicalcompetence. Based on these difficulties faced by social pedagogues I describe what could be their role in the process of integration of migrants and the host society.

This paper is devoted to the linguistic and cultural integration of Polish immigrants in Great Britain. Together with the onset of the mass immigration of Poles to Britain in 2004, our UK-based compatriots entered a hybrid linguistic-cultural reality. Ponglish, as a result of the Polish-British linguistic and cultural contacts, applies words, phrases and syntactic structures derived from British English, thus forming a kind of a Polish-British speech. This speech reflects the type of adaptation that occurred in the case of Polish immigrants, namely integration.

Neuropsychological test outcomes are influenced by education, literacy, ethnic origin and the culture background of the patient. One of the greatest neuropsychological challenges in the 21st century is to create a diagnostic tool that measures a pure cognitive process, regardless of the level of education or the national and cultural background of the patient. The paper is aimed at presenting selected problems associated with the adaptation of neuropsychological tests focusing on their feasibility in another culture. Culture-fairness of testing is associated with tasks used, their content and the testing context. In some non-Western cultures, psychometric testing is inadequate, as testing as such is atypical. Cognitive tests not only need normative data for each culture, but they also require cultural adaptation of tasks. Visuospatial tests are considered to be more “culture-fair” than verbal tasks, but some of the test results may be dependent on semantic knowledge. Likewise, the praxis tasks requiring performance or imitation of communicative gestures depends on their prior knowledge and use in a given culture. When adapting memory tests (especially tests of logical memory) for use in a new cultural context, particular emphasis should be put on the relevance of the material for the target population. As executive function tests engage more basic cognitive processes (such as language and visuospatial function, praxis and memory), their adaptation is associated with all of the elements outlined above. Also, since culture influences problemsolving strategies, some tasks may be irrelevant for a different culture due to the problem structure and not the task content. Creating culture-free cognitive measures, including screening tests, is very challenging. Further studies should focus on devising new tools adapted to specific cultural contexts with the proper understanding of the population at which the test is targeted.
Wyniki testów neuropsychologicznych są zależne od wykształcenia osoby badanej, jej umiejętności czytania i pisania, ale również pochodzenia etnicznego i tradycji kulturowych. Dlatego do największych wyzwań neuropsychologii XXI wieku należy stworzenie metody diagnostycznej umożliwiającej pomiar danego aspektu procesu poznawczego bez względu na poziom wykształcenia i pochodzenie pacjenta. Celem pracy jest ukazanie przykładowych problemów kulturowych związanych z adaptacją testów neuropsychologicznych ukierunkowaną na możliwość ich zastosowania w innym kręgu kulturowym. Problemy trafności kulturowej pomiaru testowego dotyczą samych zadań testowych, ich treści, ale też kontekstu badania. W niektórych kulturach niezachodnich testowanie psychometryczne jest nieodpowiednie, gdyż sama sytuacja badania testowego nie należy tam do typowych. Testy funkcji poznawczych zazwyczaj wymagają nie tylko opracowania norm specyficznych dla danej kultury, lecz także kulturowej adaptacji zadań. Próby wzrokowe uważane są za mniej obciążone kulturowo niż próby słowne, jednak wyniki niektórych testów mogą być bardzo zależne od wiedzy semantycznej. Podobny problem dotyczy testów praksji – wykonanie czy naśladowanie gestu zależy od jego znajomości i obecności w kulturze. Adaptując zadania pamięciowe, szczególnie zaś testy pamięci logicznej, w celu zastosowania ich w  innym kręgu kulturowym, należy zadbać o  to, aby materiał miał podobne znaczenie dla osób badanych. Adaptacja testów funkcji wykonawczych, z racji zaangażowania bardziej podstawowych procesów (funkcji językowych, wzrokowo-przestrzennych, praksji i pamięci), wymaga uwzględnienia wszystkich wymienionych czynników. Ponadto, z uwagi na wpływ kultury na strategie rozwiązywania problemów, niektóre zadania mogą być nieodpowiednie w innych kręgach kulturowych nie tyle z powodu treści, ile konstrukcji problemu. Tworzenie metod oceny funkcji poznawczych do zastosowania w różnych kręgach kulturowych, w tym metod przesiewowych, jest bardzo trudne. Dalsze badania powinny się koncentrować na opracowywaniu narzędzi dostosowanych do konkretnych kontekstów kulturowych i opartych na właściwym zrozumieniu populacji, do których są kierowane.

This paper considers two Polish translations of Pamela Travers’ Mary Poppins. I shall analyse the translation procedures applied by the translator Irena Tuwim to render culturally marked words and expressions, the difficulties she encountered during her work, and modifications that occur in the target text. Besides, there are also some discrepancies in two Polish editions which I shall compare.

Opis:
The purpose of the research is to identify a range of possible ways of explication in the translation of a literary text, their study and systematization taking into account the general strategy of the translator. The task of the research is to consider and analyze the application of explication in Ukrainian translations of G Wells’s novel “The Invisible Man” performed by M. Ivanov and O. Didyk using the method of contextual, comparative and, in some cases, component analysis. The undertaken analysis of scientific theories testifies that the reasons that prompt the translator to apply explication can be external and internal. One of the factors at the junction of internal and external causes is the role of the translator as a mediator in the process of interlingual communication. Based on comparative analysis, we concluded that M. Ivanov’s translation decisions quite specifically and adequately reflect the versatility and complex intertwining that are characteristic of G. Wells’ reproduction of the picture of what is happening. However, it is not always possible to prioritize the decision of M. Ivanov, as very often the translator deviates from the original and applies a paraphrase. O. Didyk’s translation is dominated by a position with a focus on the recipient culture. The practical significance of the study is in the possibility of using the conclusions and recommendations in the practice of literary translation and editing of translated texts, as well as in assessing the quality of translation.
