Today we cannot say with certainty what the Swiss psychologist attitude towards postmodernism would be, therefore it is reasonable to ask: what are the similarities and differences between the Depth Psychology and the above-mentioned trend? Omitting the underlying absolutism present in the Jung`s “system” (revealing itself in the archetypal construction not only of human world but reality overall (in radically idealistic interpretation of Jung`s philosophy) reveals to us the variety of expressions, that appear to imply a totally different tendency present in his writings. Instead of strengthening unchangeable foundations of reality here we find their dissolution; instead of creating monolithic human psychology we find far-reaching relativization (theoretical and moral); instead of universalistic rules of individual development and precise ethical obligations concerning every human separately, we find vast margin of freedom and great number of equally valuable paths of personality development left to the individual. In the proposed papers I would like to show Jung not as the hypothetical enemy of postmodernism but more as a proto-postmodernist, or perhaps even as a postmodernist par excellence.

This article shows correlation between two prominent thinkers of the 20th century, a biologist Adolf Portmann and a psychiatrist C.G. Jung. It shows a traditional problem of the biology and science in general, i.e. understanding its subject through a prism of function, regardless its meaning. Adolf Portmann, Swiss biologist and anthropologist, refers to many examples from the animal kingdom proving that function as an interpretative principle is not fully applicable. Portmann, similarly to Jung, distinguishes three primary levels of his subject, each of them has their own aims and values. At the same time, he emphasises that each of these levels can be comprehended only when regarded as a unity.

Although the relation between the theories of C.G. Jung and J. Hillman has been thoroughly analyzed, presented paper bring to the academic light a new aspect of their lineage of thought. By the means of the ideas of psychic Image and archetype, it reconstructs their evolution of thought - here presented in the context of freudian Metapsychologie (with its primary meaning an psychological scence replacing the metaphysics) and Dilthey’s project of Realpsychologie (descriptive psychology of dealing with the real activity soul). Presented study focuses on the years 1912-1979 capturing the period of establishing they independent Jungian school up to the forming of Archetypal Psychology by J. Hillman. The text is designed to provide both critical and historical account for depth psychology and psychology of Image.
Choć teorie C.G. Junga i J. Hillmana były już dogłębnie analizowane w licznych tekstach, prezentowany artykuł ma na celu wprowadzenie nowego spojrzenia na genealogię ich koncepcji. Śledząc historię pojęć obrazu psychicznego oraz archetypu, tekst rekonstruuje ewolucję ich myśli na kanwie dwóch jakościowych podejść psychologii: freudowskiej Metapsychologii (pierwotnie rozumianej jako psychoanalityczną naukę skoncentrowaną na zastąpieniu metafizyki) oraz diltheyowskiej Psychologii Realnej (deskryptywnej psychologii badającej aktywność duszy). Prezentowane studium skupia się na okresie 1912-1979 rozciągającym się od ustanowienia integralnej szkoły jungowskiej do ustanowienia przez J. Hillmana Psychologii Archetypowej. Tak też niniejszy test ma na celu przedstawienie krytycznego i historycznego podejścia do psychologii głębi oraz psychologii obrazu.

Individuation is, according to Jung, a process of self-awareness (Selbstwerdung). Martin Pollack’s The Dead Man in the Bunker (2004) is the example of a narrative illustrating the process of individuation. In this book, Pollack presents the fight against the memory of his ancestors – the Nazis and the subsequent stages of the process of his own maturation. This article describes how the narrator expresses himself through literature and how the literary process changes him. The author presents the successive phases of identity building and shows how the process of individuation proceeded depending on these phases. The key thesis of this article is that texts are not only a description of the process, but above all its tool.

Opis:
I emphasize the need to interpret the world view expressed in the Greek mythology. I think that C. G. Jung’s theory of archetypes can by used to interpret it. I show some similarities between Greek gods and archetypes of Jung. There is also a similarity between the goal of human development assumed in the mythological wisdom and the goal of the psychological process of individuation in the analytical psychology. These similarities let us understand some aspects of Greek myths although it must be admitted this understanding is not exhaustive or the only one possible.

The article, being a part of the just prepared book, deals with two different interpretations of Nietzschean text. C. G. Jung devoted five years' Seminar to discuss "Thus spoke Zarathustra" in the Psychological Club (1934–39), M. Heidegger was giving lectures and developing his controversy (Auseinandersetzung) with Nietzsche between 1934–48, some pauses including. The thesis exposed in the article suggests that in Nietzsche's text they were looking for the kind of language, capable to generate transformation of individual and general culture of being. The quest for such a regenerative code is explored in three main semantic fields: the "natural", the sacred and the artistic. The task of regaining "natural" character of human unity, despite of theoretical inadequacy of the category of "nature"; the aim of taking care of alive essence of sacrum as well as the possibilities of regeneration that may be found in the sphere of artistic experience, are considered in the light of Jungian and Heideggerian perspectives of reading Nietzsche. Ambivalence of their interpretations helps to show also certain continuous difficulties to get access to the sources of life. To endure these, at first unknown, conditions of our lives, allows the mind to learn and shape thinking from experience. Jung's and Heidegger's dialogues with Nietzsche may let us see that enduring in the unknown does not have to paralyze the growth of thinking.

The article analyses the motifs of faith, sacrifice and transcendence as well as a variety of methods in which they are represented in the dramatic works of W.B. Yeats. The article also tackles the difficult theme of creating national myths through dramatic and political activity that Yeats was so keen to engage with. Additionally, Wąchocka discusses the mythological imagination in Yeats’s drama in the context of the Celtic mythological tradition, pointing to how certain motifs and subjects (especially lives of gods and heroes) find their way into his plays. Wąchocka pays particular attention to the irrational, subconscious elements in Yeats’s work, identifying a variety of traditions he was drawing his inspiration from. The article also discusses the topic of reincarnation, and the theme of return to life of Yeats’s heroes, and interprets images and symbols used to represent them.
