Opis:
The paper focuses on the interaction between the visual text and sound-text in the works of Miron Białoszewski, especially in his Separate Theatre. In this case, considerations on the subject of textuality show a relation between Białoszewskim linguistics experiments and contemporary sound poetry. In essence, the sound poetry as an artistic practice (particularly, the sound poetry of Bernard Heidsieck) appears to be an important and inspiring context for interpretation of Białoszewskim text. Finally, based on the problem of sound-text, many similarities are found between Miron Białoszewski and Bernard Heidsieck.

Opis:
This paper aims to reconstruct the history, characterised by several attempts, of the publication of an Italian translation of the book Pamiętnik z powstania warszawskiego (1970) by Miron Białoszewski. I shall present, for the first time, unpublished communication material (1995) produced by the publishing house Voland (Rome), which provides evidence that Barbara Adamska Verdiani, who is curiously one of the book’s main characters, tried to translate the work. This article discusses several translation and editing issues concerning the Italian edition of Białoszewski’s text, such as the challenge of transposing the writer’s register, defined by Barańczak’s (1976) as “childish” and “colloquial”, and which came to be somehow obscured by editing conventions. Also, this research contrasts the choices made in the Italian translation to several relevant textual sources that range from George Orwell’s (1946) quest for non-verbal formulation of ideas, Roland Barthes’ (1973) concept of a “text de jouissance” and Lawrence Venuti’s (1995) theory of “foreignising translation” as opposed to a “fluent” one.

W artykule poddano analizi Chamowo – dziennik Mirona Białoszewskiego, w którym pisarz zapisuje swoje doświadczenia związane z zamieszkiwaniem blokowiska przy ul. Lizbońskiej w Warszawie. Motywem przewodnim przedstawionej analizy jest rola spojrzenia, bowiem Białoszewski wiele uwagi w swoim utworze poświęca aktywności patrzenia przez okno nowego mieszkania. Skupiając się na tej niepozornej czynności, autorka artykułu podjmuje rozważania na temat sposobów percepcji miasta, aktywności zamieszkiwania i narracyjnego oswajania przestrzeni, literackiej reprezentacji codzienności blokowiska, a wreszcie – rytmoanalizy.
The article analyzes Chamowo, a journal by Miron Białoszewski, in which the writer recounts his experience of the block housing estate in Lizbonska street in Warsaw. The leitmotive in the text is the function of the gaze as Białoszewski devotes special attention to the action of looking through the window of his new flat. By concentrating on this apparently prosaic activity, the author of the article reflects upon the ways in which a city can be perceived and lived in. She also analyses the ways of narrating the urban space and representing the everyday of block housing estates, to include finally the rhythmanalysis of the urban space.

The article deals with the problem of avant-garde character of the poetry by Miron Białoszewski in the context of alienation and dealienatively understood utopias. This is the way the language is understood here, being, on the one hand, an anonymous “language without an end”, and, on the other hand – an extremely privatized code, as the transgressive neo-avant-garde ideas inscribed in this kind of writing: experiencing life as art and the recognition of art as an event from life, and thus a myth of art as an experience parallely private and intimate and aesthetically-social. Consequently, the relationships with neoavant- garde in the Białoszewski’s poetry are treated as an expression of the modernist artistic crises, and, at the same time, as a tool helping to overcome them.

The article presents the late authorship of Miron Białoszewski, especially his poems collected in the book Odczepić się (1978) and a diary Chamowo (2009) that are a document of the poet’s life in the block of flats after his removal to the flat in a tower block at the Lizbońska Street in Warsaw in 1975. In these texts we may notice the new way of writing that was formed by new accommodation and living arrangement that influenced the poets’ life. On the other hand the room on the ninth floor occurs the place that was marked with sacrum and it puts an impact on the poets’ metaphysical and supernatural experience. The flat in the tower block has also influenced the author’s perspective and the way of writing, so that Białoszewski has experienced terminal situation – being between the two forms of living, balancing between the earth and heaven, profanum and sacrum. The removal starts to resemble a ferry across Styx, and the ninth floor becomes an unwanted porch of eternity. The titled word odczepianie się (disconnecting, separating) from the past and being at the top of the tower block means the new beginning for the poet, and writing becomes an imitation of the God’s act of creation that helps Białoszewski to accommodate in the world after heart attack and removal.

The essay calls for filling a gap in the studies on Warsaw Uprising concerning the place of queer people. A recent play, Snakepit by Joanna Oparek is considered, and the “scandal” surrounding Elżbieta Janicka’s academic work Festung Warschau is analysed, but the main source of understanding non-normative masculinities and sexualities is Miron Białoszewski’s Memoir of the Warsaw Uprising. The author offers a “paranoid” reading of traces, suggestions, allusions, and “illogical” fragments to build a working metaphor of queer acquaintances as an alternative “map” without the map. Finally he invokes the role of the picaresque narrative convention in representing such paranoid queer relationships.
