Opis:
The number of empirical studies on German social work makes it difficult to gain a clear picture of them all. The increasing academisation of education and the expansion of study programs also reveal an increase in social work research in Germany. This article traces this development and discusses open questions. In addition, it demonstrates the importance of qualitative research, in particular for the development of professional casework. The paper proposes a systematization of German research in the field of social work and discusses this systematization based on the example of a study. Finally, the paper presents some further aspects and recent developments.

The paper explores the motif of memory loss and its relationship with creation and oblivion in Michael Ende’s esoteric novel The Neverending Story. The paper also furnishes an analysis of the connections between the ontology of imagination and memory in terms of a ‘cosmogonic’ and an ‘intimistic’ approach to the world of myth and imagination, which can be identified with a veritable land of memory, an abode of remembrance and transformation.

Opis:
The recently emerging new types of collaborative work and unconventional workplaces indicate that shifting social and economic practices have odd spatial implications. The diversity of work, mostly based on hybrid social and economic logics, has brought forth a number of new contextualised spatial constructs in recent years: makerspaces, fab labs, open workshops, and co-working spaces now require detailed analytical reconstruction and conceptualisation. This article is a theoretical discussion of the nature of fluid and contingent spatialisation against the backdrop of binary explanatory categories (e.g. local-global; proximity-distance). Drawing upon modernised concepts of horizontal scaling, we propose a perspective on hybrid work which focuses on contingent multiple, multidirectional and temporal scalings created by a variety of users while developing their own micro-worlds of work.

Opis:
This paper aims to explore the concept of Creative City from the points of view of three medium-sized cities in Central and Western Europe: Birmingham (UK), Leipzig (Germany) and Poznań (Poland). The concept of Creative City has risen in popularity in the last 15 years but its meanings and its policy application display important variations. In an attempt to clarify conceptual issues and policy approaches around the term of Creative City, Scott (2006) states that policy makers should focus on specific key variables when attempting to build viable Creative Cities: the presence of inter-firm networks of producers combined with a flexible local labour market. Infrastructural facilities and social capital are also crucial in this process. Even though these variables may be mostly found in largescale metropolitan areas such as New York, Los Angeles etc., Scott (2006, p. 9) argues that “there are also many small and specialised creative agglomerations all over the world” due to the process of increased differentiation. In addition, Hall (2004) argues that building a truly Creative City is possible but is a long-term process, and historical favourable preconditions are important.

Opis:
This research should help scholars and practitioners to manage the transition of monolithic legacy application systems to microservices and to better understand the migration process, its steps, and its characteristics. It should also provide guidance on how best to approach the migration process. We performed a systematic literature review and analyzed migration approaches presented by other research. We propose leveraging Robotic Process Automation technology to extract business logic and create and deploy bots, which are then used to mimic microservices. In essence, this represents a novel use case of integrating RPA technology into the migration approach in order to reduce uncertainty and risk of failure.

Opis:
This article briefly introduces the characteristics of ships' electrical power networks, and an existing system is described as an example. A mathematical model of a selected power system, including generators with a drive and its loads, is presented. The algorithm implementing the author's numerical method, named 'the average step voltages method', is described. The chosen numerical method is notable for its stability and high accuracy, even in combination with a large integration step size. Software and hardware applications of the RT AVR tester are also shown. To check the adequacy of the simulations using the implemented model, experimental measurements were carried out. The measurements, including dynamic states, obtained by the computer tester with the AVR system, as well as the physical model with the AVR system, are summarized. Possibilities for usage in the marine industry in the future are also outlined.

In today’s manufacturing systems, especially in Industry 4.0, highly autonomous production cells play an important role. To reach this goal of autonomy, different technologies like industrial robots, machine tools, and automated guided vehicles (AGV) are deployed simultaneously which creates numerous challenges on various automation levels. One of those challenges regards the scheduling of all applied resources and their corresponding tasks. Combining data from a real production environment and Constraint Programming (CP-SAT), we provide a cascaded scheduling approach that plans production orders for machine tools to minimize makespan and tool changeover time while enabling the corresponding robot for robot-collaborated processes. Simultaneously, AGVs provide all production cells with the necessary material and tools. Hereby, magazine capacity for raw material as well as finished parts and tool service life are taken into account.

Opis:
This article focuses on German and French youth slang expressions that refer to the consumption of alcoholic drinks. Since 11% of 17-year-olds admit to consuming alcohol regularly at different places such – as friends’ houses, bars, or even school – a cataloguing study of conversational habits in this field promises a productive evaluation as these habits also influence older people’s conversational habits. The largest part of the corpus has been collected, analysed, and discussed in a three-week field study in one of Leipzig’s most popular spots among young people. Short forms are one of the most common expressions used by young people, while metaphors as well as ironic and satiric expressions are just as common. Even new creations have been registered, such as the acronym ‘Uwe’ (‘unten wird’s eklig’, i.e. ‘at the bottom it’s nasty’), which is also an allusion to the German male name ‘Uwe’, but here it refers to the last sip of a beer or any other drink. Translation may seem hard due to puns and a given contextual reality. However, there are many lexical options available to make sure that the intended message is kept alive.
