Opis:
The magnetic phase diagram of europium telluride, EuTe, under external high pressure is theoretically investigated. Besides nearest-neighbour and next-nearest-neighbour exchange interactions, the long-range dipolar and biquadratic interactions are taken into account. The functional dependences of these interactions on the lattice constant are proposed. The calculated Néel and Curie temperatures are compared with the experimental data. Two new phases, antiferrimagnetic and ferrimagnetic, have been found at a high pressure and low temperatures.

The ground-state phase diagram is studied for a diluted model magnet with FCC structure and modified Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida interaction. The modification consists in taking into account the exponential damping for the long-range interaction as well as the nearest-neighbors antiferromagnetic superexchange couplings. The existence of paramagnetic, ordered ferromagnetic and three distinct antiferromagnetic phases is shown. The stability areas of the phases upon the free-carriers concentration are investigated.

Ferromagnetic transition temperature in thin layers of diluted magnetic (semimagnetic) semiconductor $Ge_{1-x}Mn_{x}Te$ was studied experimentally by SQUID magnetometry method and analyzed theoretically for a model Ising-type diluted magnetic system with Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida indirect exchange interaction. The key features of the experimentally observed dependence of the Curie temperature on Mn content (x ≤ 0.12) and conducting hole concentration p = (1-10) × $10^{21} cm^{-3}$ were reproduced theoretically for realistic valence band and crystal lattice parameters of p-$Ge_{1-x}Mn_{x}Te$ taking into account short carrier mean free path encountered in this material and Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida mechanism with both delta-like and diffused character of spatial dependence of the exchange coupling between magnetic ions and free carriers.

Opis:
In this work we investigate a mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising model on a decorated square lattice. In addition to standard pair interactions between nearest neighbors, we also consider in our calculations three-site four-spin interactions and the effect of single ion anisotropy. Applying the well-known decoration-iteration transformation, we derive a simple relation between the partition function of the model under investigation and the Onsager's partition function for the simple square lattice. With the help of this mapping relation we are able to calculate exact expressions for all relevant physical quantities of the system (for example, the magnetization, internal energy, Gibbs free energy, entropy and specific heat). The most interesting results have been found in the model without pair interactions. In this case, besides the standard ordered and disordered phases, there also appears an interesting phase which is ordered only partially. Analyzing relevant physical quantities of the system, we have found that the partial ordering is closely related to very strong frustrations that lead to non-zero entropy at T=0.

Opis:
The sole purpose of air accident investigations should be the prevention of accidents and other incidents in the future, without apportioning blame or liability. A civil aviation safety system is based on feedback and lessons learned from accidents and incidents, while requiring the strict application of rules on confidentiality in order to ensure the availability of valuable sources of information in the future. Therefore, related data, especially sensitive safety information, should be protected in an appropriate manner. Information provided by an individual in the framework of a safety investigation should not be used against them, in full respect of constitutional principles, and national and international law. Each “involved person” who knows about an accident or serious incident should promptly notify the competent state authority for carrying out an investigation of the event. “Involved person” refers to one of the following: the owner; a member of the crew; the operator of the aircraft involved in an accident or serious incident; any person involved in the maintenance, design, manufacture of that aircraft or in the training of its crew; any person involved in air traffic control, providing flight information or providing airport services, which provided services for the aircraft concerned; staff of the national civil aviation authority; or staff of the European Aviation Safety Agency. In terms of the protection level of the organization (employer), employees who report an event or submit an application to the investigation cannot bear any prejudice from their employer because of information provided by the applicant. The protection does not cover (exclusions): infringement with wilful misconduct (direct intent, recklessness infringement); infringement committed by a clear and serious disregard of the obvious risks; and serious professional negligence, i.e., the failure to provide unquestionably duty of care required under the circumstances, causing possible or actual damage to persons or property leading the level of aviation safety being seriously compromised. All employees in the aviation sector, regardless of their function, have safety-related duties and are therefore critical to the security of the entire civil aviation system. The safety of this system requires that any event that has or may have an impact on security in aviation should be reported voluntarily and without delay, because it is necessary to conduct an appropriate investigation in order to increase the level of safety. “Just Culture” is the basic premise for the effective functioning of the reporting of events required for all aviation organizations in order to maintain and raise the safety level. As safety management is based on precise data, it is necessary to introduce appropriate procedures, which allow for obtaining information not only about the events that have already occurred, but also about any other events that could potentially cause hazardous conditions. All the procedures and rules of operation relating to the policy of Just Culture should be constructed so that they not only comply with the provisions of applicable law, but are also rational and understandable by all stakeholders, as well as provide certain comfort and confidentiality to persons reporting events that affect airline safety. Changes in the existing legal system should be established in cooperation with all concerned institutions: law enforcement, including the courts and public prosecution, aviation insurers, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Commission and other entities. Is it possible to reconcile the interests of the so-called culture of aviation safety, i.e., Just Culture, with the requirements of the above-mentioned institutions and traders involved in the implementation of air transport and the exploration of the effects of aerial surveys? The answers to this and similar questions will be widely presented in this article.

In the paper the thermodynamics of a cubic cluster with 8 sites at quarter filling is characterized by means of exact diagonalization technique. Particular emphasis is put on the behaviour of such response functions as specific heat and magnetic susceptibility. The system is modelled with extended Hubbard model which includes electron hopping between both first and second nearest neighbours as well as Coulombic interactions, both on-site and between nearest-neighbour sites. The importance of hopping between second nearest neighbours and Coulombic interactions between nearest neighbours for the temperature dependences of thermodynamic response functions is analysed. In particular, the predictions of the Schottky model are compared with the calculations based on the full energy spectrum.

This paper deals with propagation of rumours linked to political instability within going public procedure. Rumours affect the decision making significantly because of information asymmetry. Firstly, a team of experts identified a set of 9 macroeconomic variables that are likely to be affected by political instability in a country. Next, a qualitative model was developed. The result is represented by 25 scenarios and their qualitative solutions. The transitional graph represents all possible transitions among the 108 scenarios. Although no of the rumours is under control of the investor, if timely detected, any damages can be averted.

We study effects of the next-next-nearest-neighbour antiferromagnetic (J₃ < 0) interaction on critical properties (or phase diagram) of the frustrated spin-½ J₁-J₂-J₃ Ising antiferromagnet on the honeycomb lattice by using the effective-field theory with correlations. Beside the ground-state energy, we find that there is a region of J₃ < 0 in which the frustrated honeycomb lattice antiferromagnet exhibits a tricritical point, at which the phase transition changes from the second order to the first one on the line between Néel antiferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases.

Opis:
Composites are used in a wide variety of markets, including the aerospace, architecture, automotive and military sectors. Along with the increased use of composites, multiple non-destructive testing (NDT) methods have been further developed specifically for inspecting them. Among them, one can single out ultrasonic phased arrays. Research described in this article focuses on the use of ultrasonic PAs for production flaw investigations into an aileron. The examined part was made of up to 16 layers of BAER 3068 epoxy carbon prepreg. The investigation was carried out by using the tap test, conventional ultrasonic measurement and phased array methods. The phased array method allowed us to thoroughly check the affected specimen and confirm the presence of a production flaw in the form of epoxy resin build-up. The results show how effective this method can be and emphasize its advantages over traditional ultrasonic inspections.
