Opis:
A method is proposed in the paper to calculate effective efficiency of an engine in nonstationary operating conditions. A reference point for this method is the effective efficiency of the engine derived from its performance map. A research methodology has been developed to this end, the basis of which consists of measurements and calculations of the to tal energy efficiency of a car motion in a variable driving cycle. In order to determine the impact of the road grade, measurements were performed along a geodetically described roadsection in two traffic directions: "up " and "down ". The adopted research scheme allows covering the area of the engine performance map being of interest to us with measuring points. The mean value or rotational speed and its change in unit oftime were adopted as the leading parameters which have a dominating influence on, and result in a reduction of the effective efficiency of the engine. To improve the accuracy of calculations, the variable driving cycle consists of driving phases and idle running. The volume of fuel consumed, not accounted for in the driving phases, being the difference between the calculated and consumed fuel, is a measure of reduction of the effective efficiency of the engine, whilst the unit power of additional motion resistance of the vehicle (a*ni) is a leading parameter in the analyses of the calculation results.

The study examines the effect of transformation ratio in power transmission system on engine efficiency as a function of passenger vehicle velocity (m = 1400 kg) with energy-saving vehicle drive. The study also presents working range in driving phases for energy-saving speed control up to 120 km/h for a simplified overall engine performance map for SI engine. Understanding of the presented considerations can be facilitated through relating with advantages of application of non-driving phases in low engine load phases (field 4 in overall engine performance map). Working points of SI engines in engine performance maps were divided in terms of energy-saving vehicle speed control into 4 ranges. Zone l is the most economic whereas zones 3 and 4 are the least energy-saving, which was also discussed by the author in other works. The study presents the location of engine working points in overall engine performance map during energy-saving vehicle speed control within the range of 30-120 km/h using two different 6-gear gearboxes. Working range for CI engine in simplified overall characteristics in truck, the impact of speed control upon fuel consumption in real traffic conditions, sum and difference characteristics of components of drive engine unitary power, area of maximal rise in overall engine efficiency after reduction of rotational speed, simplified SI engine performance maps, covering with economic zone of working point in energy-saving drive of vehicles are presented in the paper.

In recent years, the fabrication of novel building blocks for quantum computation- and spintronics devices gained significant attention. The ultimate goal in terms of miniaturization is the creation of single-atom functional elements. Practically, quantum point contacts are frequently used as model systems to study the fundamental electronic transport properties of such mesoscopic systems. A quantum point contact is characterised by a narrow constriction coupling two larger electron reservoirs. In the absence of a magnetic field, the conductance of these quantum point contacts is quantised in multiples of $2 e^2//h$, the so-called conductance quantum $(G_0)$. However, in the presence of magnetic fields the increased spin-degeneracy often gives rise to a deviation from the idealized behaviour and therefore leads to a change in the characteristic conductance of the quantum point contact. Herein, we illustrate the complex magnetotransport characteristics in quantum point contacts and magnetic heterojunctions. The theoretical framework and experimental concepts are discussed briefly together with the experimental results as well as potential applications.

In China, species in the genus Acorus are used for many different purposes, viz., in traditional medicine, for rituals, and as ornamental plants. Acorus calamus (sweet flag) has been a symbolic plant in Chinese culture for many centuries and is used as a ceremonial object in festivals throughout the country. For other Acorus species in China, ethnobotanical records are few. During field investigations from 2006 to 2017, we interviewed 573 individuals representing ethnic groups such as the Miao, Yao, Buyi, Shui, Tujia, Dong, She, Maonan, Zhuang, Yi, and Han people. Various ethnobotanical approaches were adopted in the field surveys, including key informant interviews, semistructured interviews, participatory observation, direct observation, etc. The results have revealed a rich treasure trove of traditional knowledge on Acorus in China. Two species (A. macrospadiceus and A. gramineus) were used by ethnic groups as spices to add flavor to meat. Through the study found that all the species of Acorus had medicinal value, especially A. tatarinowii, deafness, blindness, and digestive disorders were among the conditions commonly treated using these plants. Traditional knowledge of the cultural, ethnomedicinal, and food values of Acorus, based on our recent literature surveys and field investigations in China is presented here. A better understanding of Acorus is vital for conserving the plants and the traditional knowledge associated with them.

Opis:
Using variational Monte Carlo method we calculated the lowest order relativistic corrections for the ground state energies of the helium-like atoms, up to Z = 10, and also for some excited state energies of the helium atom. These relativistic corrections include: mass-velocity effect, orbit-orbit interaction, spin magnetic and dipole moments of the two electrons and the Darwin effect. Moreover, correction due to the nucleus motion has been also calculated. Our results were obtained by using two new types of compact and accurate trial wave functions for the helium ions. For excited states we used simple trial wave functions of good quality and accurate results. The obtained results are in good agreement with the most recent previous accurate values and also with the exact values.

Opis:
Spasticity is one of the main causes of contracture, muscle weakness and subsequent functional incapacity. The passive static stretching can be included as having the purpose of increasing musculoskeletal flexibility, however, it also can influence the muscle torque. The objective is to verify the immediate effect of passive static stretching in the muscle strength of healthy and those who present spastic hemiparesis. There were assessed 20 subjects, 10 spastic hemiparetic (EG) and 10 healthy individuals (CG), including both sexes, aged between 22 and 78 years. The torque of extensor muscles of the knee was analyzed using isokinetic dynamometer. Results have shown that EG has less muscle torque compared to CG ( p < 0.01). In addition, EG presented a decrease in significance of muscle torque after stretching ( p < 0.05), however, it has not shown significant alteration in muscle torque of CG after performing the program that was prescribed. Immediately after the passive stretch, a significant torque decrease can be seen in hypertonic muscle; it is believed that this reduction may be associated with the physiological overlap between actin and myosin filaments and so preventing the muscle to develop a maximum contraction.

The synchrotron radiation was used to apply tunable high energy X-ray photoemission spectroscopy for investigation of electronic structure of semiconductor nanostructure CdTe/$Pb_{0.95}Eu_{0.05}Te$/CdTe/GaAs(001) top part. The $Pb_{0.95}Eu_{0.05}Te$ (6 nm thick) was buried under thin (22 nm) top layer of CdTe transparent for part of electrons photoemitted from $Pb_{0.95}Eu_{0.05}Te$ buried layer. The top layer of CdTe was sputtered by Ar ion bombardment for surface cleaning and for leaving the thickness of CdTe more transparent for photoelectrons emitted from buried layer. For these thickness of the top layer the photoemission energy distribution curves corresponding to the valence band and core levels electrons of the buried layer atoms were measured with application of synchrotron radiation of energy hν = 3510 eV. The measured spectra corresponding to the buried layer atoms were observed in the valence band region and in the high binding energy region for core levels of Pb 4f, Pb 3d. The valence band contribution and core levels Cd 4d and Cd 3d were obtained mainly from top cover layer. Measured Te 4d, Te 3d and Te 4d spectra possess contribution as well from top cover layer as from the buried layer. The amount of Eu atoms was to small to be reasonable detected and presented in the paper.

The INSIDE project addresses the online dose monitoring in particle therapy issue. The proposed detectors exploit the secondary neutral and charged particles emitted during the treatment by the irradiated volumes. The new detection techniques allow to return and online a measurement of the released dose and the Bragg peak position.

Opis:
The INSIDE collaboration aims to build an on-line hadrontherapy monitoring system, based on a dual-head in-beam PET scanner and a secondary charged particles profiler. In this work preliminary experimental results are presented. The validation of the FLUKA-based Monte Carlo simulation tool is shown together with the expected scanner performances.

Opis:
In this work we have studied the NO2 sensing properties of the sensors with tetrapods. The tetrapods that were used in the production were obtained by CVD route, and their structural analysis was carried out using SEM, XRD and EDX methods. The sensors were produced by a different method that the one mentioned in our another work, and additional electrical I-V characterization was carried out. As well as in the previous work the sensors were tested for 50 ppm sensitivity, by using computer controlled gas flux system, in NO₂ at 200°C, and in ambient air to model the normal working conditions more closely. It was found that the sensors have a good sensitivity to the NO₂ gas. All of the sensors showed a great reversibility and it was found that the recovery time was perfectly low. After this experiment the same sensors were tested with other different gases for several times. And no other problems in sensing ability were seen.
