W drugiej części wskazano na wewnętrzną organizację Stowarzyszenia, trzecią poświęcono jego władzom, a czwartą majątkowi Stowarzyszenia Bibliotek Kościelnych.
The aim of this article is presenting the issue of Association of Church Libraries in the view of chosen statutes in terms of canonic aspect. In its first part the issue of nature, aims and modes of action of the Association of Church Libraries are presented. In the second part the inner organisation od the Association is depicted, the third part is devoted to authorities, while the forth one treats about the wealt of the Association of Church Libraries.

Background. Within the last few decades, the prevalence of obesity has increased rapidly throughout the world. Epidemiological studies indicate a relationship of several types of cancer with obesity. The study aimed was to analyse the relation between body mass index (BMI) and the risk of developing gastric cancer. Material and methods. A multicenter case-control study was conducted between 2010 and 2015 in Poland. The study included 152 patients with gastric cancer and 152 patients with normal results of esophagogastroduodenoscopy performed in the same period and matched for age, education and sex. BMI was calculated by using patients’ height and weight. An analysis of environmental factors associated with the risk of gastric cancer was performed. Results. The group with the diagnosis of gastric cancer was characterised by significantly higher regular consumption of alcohol and was found to include a higher percentage of smokers compared to the control group. In a subgroup analysis, it was found that there was a significantly higher body mass index among both men and women diagnosed with gastric cancer. A relation between gastric cancer and both overweight (BMI 25.0-29.9 kg / m²) and obesity (BMI≥30 kg / m²) was established. In a multivariate analysis, this was an independent risk factor for gastric cancer. Conclusions. We suggest that BMI should be considered as an independent risk factor for developing gastric adenocarcinoma, which should lead to further research leading to the development of recommendations for the prevention of gastric cancer for people with high BMI.
Wprowadzenie. W ciągu ostatnich kilku dekad występowanie nadwagi i otyłości wzrasta gwałtownie. Badania epidemiologiczne wskazują na związek kilku typów nowotworów złośliwych z nadwagą i otyłością. Celem naszej pracy była analiza relacji pomiędzy wskaźnikiem masy ciała (BMI) a ryzykiem zachorowania na gruczołowego raka żołądka. Materiał i metody. Wieloośrodkowe badanie kliniczno-kontrolne zostało przeprowadzone w latach 2010 do 2015 w województwie pomorskim w Polsce. Do badania włączono 152 pacjentów z rakiem żołądka i 152 pacjentów z prawidłowymi wynikami ezofagoduodendoskopii wykonywanymi w tym samym okresie. Przypadki zostały dopasowane pod względem wieku, wykształcenia i płci. BMI obliczano na podstawie wzrostu i wagi pacjenta. Dodatkowo przeprowadzono analizę czynników środowiskowych mogących mieć związek z ryzykiem zachorowania na gruczołowego raka żołądka. Wyniki. W grupie z rozpoznaniem raka żołądka stwierdzano wyraźnie wyższą częstość regularnego spożywania alkoholu i wyższy odsetek osób palących w porównaniu do grupy kontrolnej. W analizie podgrup stwierdzono znacznie podwyższony wskaźnik masy ciała zarówno wśród mężczyzn jak i kobiet, u których zdiagnozowano raka żołądka w stosunku do grupy kontrolnej. Relacja pomiędzy występowaniem raka żołądka i nadwagi (BMI 25.0-29.9 kg/ m²) lub otyłości (BMI≥30 kg / m²) była istotna statystycznie. W analizie wieloczynnikowej podwyższony BMI był niezależnym czynnikiem ryzyka rozwoju gruczołowego raka żołądka. Wnioski. Sugerujemy, że BMI należy traktować jako niezależny czynnik ryzyka rozwoju gruczolakoraka żołądka, co powinno prowadzić do dalszych badań prowadzących do opracowania zaleceń dotyczących zapobieganiu i wczesnemu wykrywaniu raka żołądka u osób z wysokim BMI.

Background. During the last few decades, adiposity has become a relatively common phenomenon worldwide. The available data on the effects of pro-inflammatory factors in both depression and adiposity has been attracting great attention. Aim. We sought to assess the prevalence of -889C>T IL-1α, -31T>C and -511C>T IL-1β, -330T>G IL-2 and -174G>C IL-6 genes and their association with adiposity and depression in Polish subjects. Methods. A cohort study was conducted in 2013/2014, covering a sample of 297 individuals (217 female and 80 male). Anthropometric data was handled using the BIA analysis method, while for genotyping PCR-RFLP techniques were used. Results. A positive correlation between depression and anthropometric parameters: adipose tissue (in kg) and adipose tissue (in %) (R=0.135 and p=0.02, R=0.114 and p<0.05, respectively) was found. No association between studied polymorphisms and depression was observed. Conclusion. Although it was not possible to demonstrate any influence of the studied polymorphisms as the genetic modulator of depression, authors believe that the presented data are noticeable and may provide the basis for future studies on larger groups.

This article reviews regional and national initiatives which foster the growth of start-ups in Poland. It begins with an attempt to define a start-up company and outline the rationale for public and private support for innovative entrepreneurship. The second section contains six case studies of organisations based in Warsaw and Kraków which support start-ups at various stages of development. The main goal of this research is to broaden practical knowledge by examining the different tools, approaches, motivations, and roles played by selected stakeholders within the Polish start-up ecosystem. The research shows the changing landscape of the Polish start-up support scene, demonstrated by different approaches and institutional arrangements. It reveals an increase in the number of linkages to other countries, as well as the crucial role of entrepreneurial learning and mentoring. Additionally, the findings highlight challenges associated with the practice of collecting conclusive evidence of the effectiveness of start-up support programmes.

The article presents basic information on the activity and changes of the organisation associating museums and their professionals in inter-war Poland. It recalls the personalities who influenced the development of museology, their opinions and the positions they held. It presents the organisation’s aims and tasks, as well as the problems which museum professionals had to face when rebuilding the Polish state after 123 years of occupation. 1914 marked the beginning of the organisation and foundation of the Polish Museum Professionals’ Delegation as a representation of Polish museums originating in the three partitions: Austrian, Russian and Prussian. In 1930 the name was changed to the Museum Association in Poland, and it was preserved until the end of the organisation’s existence in 1951. The 1930s saw a substantial development of organisations associating museums of various kinds: historical, artistic, natural, the Polish Geographical Society, specialist and ethnic.In 1939, the Association included 110 museums out of 125 in the country. The Museum Association in Poland co-authored legislative proposals related to museology, debated various general problems such as the role of museums in the state and society, relations with state authorities and local governments, the financing and development of museums, their aims and tasks, the level of museum offer as well as on training and paying museum professionals. Representatives of the Museum Association in Poland played a significant role in the National Museum Council, a consultative governmental body. One of the Museum Association’s achievements was the publication in 1947 of the Muzealnictwo handbook, as well as issuing periodicalsdevoted to museum matters.
Artykuł przybliża podstawowe informacje na temat działalności i przemian organizacji skupiającej muzea i muzealników w II Rzeczypospolitej. Wspomina osobistości, które miały wpływ na rozwój muzealnictwa, ich poglądy i zajmowane stanowiska. Przedstawia cele i zadania organizacji, a także główne problemy, z którymi muzealnicy musieli się zmierzyć w dobie odbudowy polskiego państwa po 123 latach zaborów. Początek organizacji przypada na rok 1914 i powstanie Delegacji Muzeologów Polskich, jako reprezentacji polskich muzeów z trzech zaborów: austriackiego, rosyjskiego i pruskiego. W 1930 r. dokonano zmiany nazwy na Związek Muzeów w Polsce (ZMwP), która przetrwała do końca istnienia organizacji, tj. do 1951 roku. W latach 30. XX w. nastąpił znaczący rozwój organizacji skupiającej muzea różnych typów: historyczne, artystyczne, przyrodnicze, Polskiego Towarzystwa Krajoznawczego, specjalistyczne oraz mniejszości narodowych. W 1939 r. do Związku należało 110 muzeów (na 125 ogółem). Związek Muzeów w Polsce współtworzył projekty legislacyjne związane z muzealnictwem, debatował nad rozwiązywaniem różnorakich problemów ogólnych – rolą muzeów w państwie i społeczeństwie, stosunków z władzami państwowymi i samorządami, finansowaniem i rozwojem muzeów, celów oraz zadań muzeów, a także poziomem oferty muzealnej oraz kształceniem i wynagradzaniem muzealników. Znacząca była rola przedstawicieli ZMwP w Państwowej Radzie Muzealnej, ciele opiniodawczym dla rządu. Osiągnięciem ZMwP było opracowanie podręcznika pt. Muzealnictwo, wydanego już w 1947 r. oraz wydawanie periodyków poświęconych sprawom muzealnictwa.

This paper reports the first investigation in the second language acquisition field assessing learners’ implicit attitudes using the Implicit Association Test, a computerized reaction-time measure. Examination of the explicit and implicit attitudes of Arab learners of English (N = 365) showed that, particularly for males, implicit attitudes toward L2 speakers are associated with self-reported openness to the L2 group and with strength of correlations among attitudinal and motivational variables. Implicit attitudes also moderated important paths in the L2 Motivational Self System. The paper concludes that implicit attitudes seem to be a meaningful individual difference variable, adding a new dimension to our understanding of language motivation.

This paper investigates the attitudinal/motivational predictors of second language (L2) academic achievement. Young adult learners of English as a foreign language (N = 311) completed several self-report measures and the SingleTarget Implicit Association Test. Examination of the motivational profiles of high and low achievers revealed that attachment to the L1 community and the ought-to L2 self were negatively associated with achievement, while explicit attitudes toward the L2 course and implicit attitudes toward L2 speakers were positively associated with it. The relationship between implicit attitudes and achievement could not be explained either by social desirability or by other cognitive confounds, and remained significant after controlling for explicit self-report measures. Explicit–implicit congruence also revealed a similar pattern, in that congruent learners were more open to the L2 community and obtained higher achievement. The results also showed that neither the ideal L2 self nor intended effort had any association with actual L2 achievement, and that intended effort was particularly prone to social desirability biases. Implications of these findings are discussed.

Prezydencja w Radzie UE to ekscytujący przedmiot badań politologicznych ze względu na jej wielowymiarowość, jak również dynamikę zmian. Przełom w odniesieniu do funkcji prezydencji i jej pozycji w systemie instytucjonalnym stanowi traktat z Lizbony. Autorka bada rolę prezydencji w Radzie UE na przykładzie polityki rozszerzeniowej UE wobec Bałkanów Zachodnich, która dobrze odzwierciedla specyfikę unijnego systemu. Celem jest zweryfikowanie, jakie funkcje prezydencja spełnia w polityce rozszerzeniowej i na ile powtarzany w literaturze naukowej pogląd, iż traktat z Lizbony ograniczył rolę prezydencji, jest zasadny i wyczerpujący. Autorka zakłada, że rola prezydencji nie zależy przede wszystkim od statusu prawno-ustrojowego, ale od stosowanej praktyki, na którą wpływa szereg czynników wskazanych poniżej w artykule. W badaniu wykorzystywany został warsztat metodologiczny łączący różne paradygmaty teoretyczne (koncepcję ról, instytucjonalizm racjonalnego wyboru, konstruktywizm) i metody badawcze (systemową, porównawczą, behawioralną, symulacyjną), tak by możliwe było uchwycenie zjawisk niewidocznych w ujęciu określonej teorii czy metody i w konsekwencji efektywne rozpoznanie zjawiska.

The ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2E 2 (UBE2E2) gene plays an important role in insulin synthesis and secretion under conditions in which stress to the endoplasmic reticulum is increased in β-cells. In this case-control study, we have selected rs7612462 polymorphism within UBE2E2 gene to identify in a Saudi population the type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) subjects. In total, 376 subjects with T2DM and 380 controls were enrolled in this study. We have collected 5 mL of peripheral blood from each participant for biochemical and molecular analyses. PCR-RFLP was used to generate genotypes at rs7612462 in all of the study subjects. Radiographic knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a highly prevalent condition that has been the focus of a number of studies identifying factors that are prognostic of continued or worsening pain and function. Although prior prognostic studies have identified a number of demographic, physical, and psychological factors that are predictive of outcome, minimal focus has been placed on pain coping skills as prognostic factors, despite crosssectional evidence suggesting that pain coping skills are associated with pain and function in knee OA. The present study reports on the use of pain coping skills as prognostic factors for changes in pain and/or function over a 1-year period. Participants were drawn from the Osteoarthritis Initiative, a prospective longitudinal cohort study of persons recruited from the community who either had knee OA or were at high risk for developing knee OA. Data from the Coping Strategies Questionnaire were compared against 1-year change in pain, function, or both, using established criteria for defining whether the patient got better, worse, or stayed the same over the 1-year period. Results revealed a significant effect for praying/hoping, increased behavioral activities, and pain catastrophizing as prognostic of pain outcomes; ignoring pain and praying/hoping were prognostic of function outcomes; and increased behavioral activities and pain catastrophizing were prognostic of a combined pain and function outcome. The findings provide important new evidence regarding the potential clinical relevance of a number of pain coping responses hypothesized to influence future pain and function in persons with arthritis.
Stwierdzane radiograficznie zmiany zwyrodnieniowe stawów kolanowych to schorzenie bardzo częste i będące przedmiotem licznych badań, w których identyfikowano czynniki rokownicze utrzymującego się lub narastającego bólu i zaburzeń czynności. We wcześniejszych badaniach dotyczących rokowania zidentyfikowano liczne czynniki demograficzne, fizyczne i psychologiczne, które są predyktorami wyniku leczenia, ale niewiele uwagi poświęcono umiejętnościom radzenia sobie z bólem jako czynnikowi rokowniczemu, pomimo danych pochodzących z badań przekrojowych, które wskazują, że umiejętności te wiążą się z bólem i z funkcjonowaniem w chorobie zwyrodnieniowej stawów kolanowych. W bieżącym badaniu opisujemy zastosowanie umiejętności radzenia sobie z bólem jako jednym z czynników rokowniczych zmian w zakresie bólu i/lub funkcjonowania w ciągu rocznej obserwacji. Uczestnicy badania pochodzili z Osteorthritis Initiative, prospektywnego podłużnego badania kohortowego osób rekrutowanych ze społeczności, które miały chorobę zwyrodnieniową stawów kolanowych lub były obciążone dużym ryzykiem rozwoju tego schorzenia. Dane z Coping Strategies Questionnaire porównano z rocznymi zmianami w zakresie bólu, czynności lub obu tych zmiennych, za pomocą określonych kryteriów definiujących zmianę stanu klinicznego pacjenta na lepszy, gorszy lub bez zmian w ciągu roku. Wyniki wskazały na istotne efekty modlitwy/nadziei, zwiększonej aktywności behawioralnej i myślenia katastroficznego na temat bólu, jako czynników rokowniczych wyniku leczenia; ignorowanie bólu oraz modlitwa/nadzieja były czynnikami prognostycznymi wyniku leczenia w zakresie funkcjonowania; zwiększona aktywność behawioralna i myślenie katastroficzne na temat bólu były czynnikami rokowniczymi odnoszącymi się łącznie do wyników leczenia bólu oraz funkcjonowania. Wyniki dostarczają istotnych nowych danych naukowych odnośnie do potencjalnego klinicznego znaczenia wielu reakcji radzenia sobie z bólem, które przypuszczalnie mogą wpływać na przyszły ból i funkcjonowanie osób z chorobą zwyrodnieniową stawów.

An unusual, exotic, ammonite fauna including Romaniceras mexicanum Jones, 1938, Prionocyclus hyatti (Stanton, 1894) and Coilopoceras cf. springeri Hyatt, 1903 is recorded from the late Middle Turonian of Vaucluse and Gard, southern France. It is the first record of this ammonite association outside the Gulf Coast region and the Western Interior of the United States of North America. Up to present, these species were considered as endemic to the Western Interior sea-way. The migration of numerous ammonites from North America to western Europe during the late Middle Turonian suggests it is linked to a transgressive event or to a short sea-level high.
