Opis:
This paper presents research results related to measurements of partial discharges (PD), which may occur in oil insulation systems of electric power transformers. Three measuring methods were considered: electrical (apparent charge - IEC60270), acoustic emission (AE) and ultra-high frequency (UHF) method. Research works have been proceeded under laboratory condition. PD were generated using special apparatus and spark gap configuration for surface PD modeling. Measurements were performed simultaneously for each of the regarded methods and were repeated for selected supply voltage levels. The electrical and UHF methods measurements were made using MPD measuring system from Omicron. The AE method measurements were made using a piezoelectric transducer, which was installed on the outer transformer tank wall. Comparative analysis of signals gathered during research works was made. Possibilities of application of the three considered PD detection methods for electric power systems with oil insulation were proposed in the paper.

Opis:
Technical devices operating in industrial conditions are subject to periodic technical inspection, in accordance with the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 07 December 2012 on the types of technical devices subject to technical supervision (Journal of Laws 2012 item 1468). As part of periodic inspections, supplementary non-destructive testing (NDT) are carried out, such as: eddy current tests - ET, leak tests - LT, magnetic powder tests - MT, penetration tests - PT, ultrasonic tests - UT and visual tests - VT. The research program and scope of actions depends on many factors, including the type of device, material used, degradation mechanisms occurring, operating conditions of the device, or its operating time. Another NDT test method that is more and more widely used is the acoustic emission method (def. AE - acoustic emission, AT - acoustic emission testing according to PN-EN 1330-9: 2017-09). The ability to detect and locate AE signal sources, as well the ability to perform tests during the operation of devices (in-service), makes that this method is now worldwide considered as suitable for periodic testing of large objects, among others in the petrochemical and chemical. AT test allows detecting damages at an early stage of their occurrence, as well as at the same time allowing to globally monitoring whole object. The AT test complements very well together with other NDT methods, what allows verification and more accurate assessment of the detected damages. In many cases, the AE method is one of several methods used to assess the technical condition of the device. AT is used first of all at the initial stage, in order to indicate areas to tests by other NDT methods - for this reason this method is often called the "screening method". This article presents the basics of the AE method and its practical applications.
Urządzenia techniczne pracujące w warunkach przemysłowych podlegają badaniom okresowym dozoru technicznego, zgodnie z Rozporządzeniem Rady Ministrów z dnia 07 grudnia 2012 r. w sprawie rodzajów urządzeń technicznych podlegających dozorowi technicznemu (Dz.U. 2012 poz. 1468).

Nowadays acoustic emission (AE) method is used in many fields of science, including in the diagnosis and monitoring of machining processes such as turning, grinding, milling, etc. Monitoring of turning process allows ensuring stable conditions of treatment. Stable conditions of turning process have a great impact on the quality of the surface. This is especially important during finishing treatment. The research was carried out on a universal ZMM-SLIVEN CU500MRD lathe centre-using tool with removable insert SANDVIK Coromant WNMG 080408 – WMX Wiper. Lathing process was performed on the shaft of 74 mm in diameter made of S235 steel. The research was carried out at constant cutting speed v = 230 m/min. Changed parameters were feed f = 0.1; 0.2; 0.4 mm/rev and cutting depth ap = 0.5; 0.75; 1 mm. In the research was used a set of acoustic emission Vallen System. The kit includes: 4 channel signal recorder AMSY 6, two measurement modules ASIP-2/S, preamplifier with a frequency range 20 kHz – 1 MHz and the strengthening of 34dB and AE signal measurement sensor type VS 150M, with a frequency range 100 – 450 kHz. During the study, the acoustic emission (AE) generated during the lathing process were recorded parameters e.g. amplitude, number of events – hits, the effective value of the signal (RMS). The test results indicate, that the higher instability of the process was during turning with parameters: ap = 0.75 mm and f = 0.1 mm/rev. The study can be the basis for the use of acoustic emission method for monitoring lathing process to ensure stable conditions of that process and the same to obtain a high quality surface.

Nowadays acoustic emission (AE) method is used in many fields of science, including in the diagnosis of machining processes such as turning, grinding, milling, etc. Determining of turning parameters has a great impact on the quality of the surface. This is especially important during finishing treatment. In the study of acoustic emission, method was used to optimize the cutting depth. Optimization was to determine the depth of cut, at which the vibration level exceeds the set level. The research was carried out on a universal CDS 6250 BX-1000 lathe centre using dynamometer DKM 2010 where assembled removable insert CCMT 09 T304 PF. Lathing process was performed on the shaft of 40 mm in diameter made of S235JR steel. The research was carried out at constant cutting speed v = 145 m/min and at constant feed f = 0.114 mm/rev. In the research was used a set of acoustic emission Vallen System. The kit includes: 4 channel signal recorder AMSY 6, two measurement modules ASIP-2/S, preamplifier with a frequency range 20 kHz – 1 MHz and the strengthening of 34 dB and AE signal measurement sensor type VS 150M, with a frequency range 100 – 450 kHz. During the study, the acoustic emission (AE) generated during the lathing process was recorded parameters: amplitude, number of events – hits, the effective value of the signal (RMS). Analysis of the research results allowed to determine the maximum depth of cut, at which the vibration does not reach the set limit value. The study can be the basis for the use of acoustic emission method to determine the parameters of the finishing lathing for obtaining a high quality surface.

Acoustic emission method (AE) can be used for the diagnosis of machine parts or apparatus such as, for example, ball valves. This paper presents the methodology and research results of ball valve in fresh water systems. The opening angle of the valve was changed during the research. The flow of water was measured by a magnetically inductive flowmeter. The research was carried out on a laboratory test stand using an acoustic emission set made by Vallen Inc. This set included: 4 channel signal recorder AMSY 6, two measurement modules ASIP-2/S, preamplifier with a frequency range 20 kHz – 1 MHz and the strengthening of 34 dB and AE signal measurement sensor type VS 150M, with a frequency range 100 – 450kHz. The obtained from the AE-System made by Vallen were compared with the results of the AE-System made by Physical Acoustics (PAC). The PAC system includes preamplifier USB AE Node, type 1283 with bandpass 20 kHz – 1 MHz, AE-Sensor R6D, computer with AE Win for USB Version E5.32 software. During the study, the acoustic emission (AE) generated by flowing water was recorded. The following parameters were determined: amplitude, number of events – hits, the effective value of the signal (RMS). Analysis of the results showed that within a specific range of opening angle of the valve the value of the generated acoustic emission in flowing water increases. This is probably associated with the occurrence of cavitation within the valve. This is an undesirable phenomenon and that these opening angles of ball valve should be avoided in the normal operation.

Opis:
This article presents the methodology and research results of monitoring friction processes between couple of cooperating elements by acoustic emission method. The research was carried out at the lathing machine test stand of the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen. The test stand included lathing machine Proxon PD 210, shaft, made of austenitic stainless steel X2CrNi18-9 and steel plate, made of S235. The Friction process was monitored by an acoustic emission set made by Physical Acoustics Corporation (PAC). The PAC system includes: preamplifier USB AE Node, type 1283 with bandpass 20 kHz – 1 MHz, AE signal measurement sensor type VS 150M, with a frequency range 100-450 kHz, computer with AE Win for USB Version E5.30 software. During the study, the acoustic emission (AE) generated by friction between shaft and steel plate was recorded. The load of the plate was 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 N. The following parameters were determined: amplitude, number of events – hits, the effective value of the signal (RMS). The use of grease between the cooperating elements caused a significant reduction in friction and thus the power of the generated signal (10 to 30 times). In the case of dry friction, without grease, the maximum RMS value was recorded at 4 N load and at the lubricant between the pair cooperating at 1 N load. The research has shown that it is possible to monitor the friction process between cooperating elements using the acoustic emission method.

The article presents the techniques of AE and thermography to assess the level, volume and shape of sludge inside a storage tank. The thermographic method is used to assess the amount of sludge (height) along the tank's shell. In this case, the technique AE is used in a different way than usual. A special sensor system was used on the wall and roof of the tank. The sensors generate AE pulses in accordance with the established algorithm. The algorithm allows the recording of AE signals as a result of propagation and reflection of AE waves (including deposits) in the stored product between the sensors. Based on differences in the wave propagation time, sludge thickness is calculated at various points on the bottom of the tank.
W artykule przedstawiono techniki AE i termografii do oceny poziomu, objętości i kształtu osadów w zbiorniku magazynowym. Metoda termograficzna służy do oceny poziomu osadu (wysokości) wzdłuż płaszcza zbiornika.

The present paper determines the results of experimental research performed in Gdynia Maritime University and connected with the measurements of hydrodynamic friction forces in slide journal slide bearings by using the Acoustic Emission Method. A new method for mechanical friction force measuring was carried out at this test stand, simultaneously the friction force will be indicated by an optimized Acoustic Emission System. The friction conditions at the test were measured by two different methods. At the one hand the friction power measurement and at the other hand the Acoustic Emission Analysis. One characteristic of the friction power measurement is the rather inert reaction to the oscillations of the slide bearing. The advantage of the method is the fact that one can measure absolute values of the friction power. In opposite to that, the Acoustic Emission Analysis measures the high frequency oscillations caused by the hydrodynamic friction between the oil molecules. The advantage of this method is the fact that this oscillations can be executed directly from the source to the sensor, what enables us to do an "online-measurement". The Acoustic Emission Analysis is (in opposite to the aforementioned friction power measurement) a relative method, which means, that the absolute amount of a RMS-Value depends on the measuring chain. The results are compared and discussed with other results obtained in experiments performed in University of Applied Science Giessen.
