Opis:: Most variable-speed drive systems use an AC/DC/AC or AC/AC power conversion procedure. Currently, standard adjustable speed drives consist of a diode rectifier and a PWM voltage source inverter. Another alternative is controlled rectifier and a current source inverter. Today, due to the increased use of power electronics appliances and converters, the quality of power in the majority of the ac supply systems is reducing. Nonlinear currents drawn from the utility grid by those equipments imply mains voltage distortion and other problems resulting in harmonic pollution and electromagnetic interference implications. The paper presents a survey the most popular traditional and modern topologies of power electronics systems of converters used for adjustable speed AC motors. The topologies of front end rectifiers and motor inverters are presented. The special attention is paid for double-sided converters, multilevel converters, cascaded converters and dual inverter fed open-end stator winding of induction motor. The topologies of recently developed AC/AC and AC/DC/AC matrix converters are also discussed. The control systems and performance of presented converters is described.

Opis:: The upshot of the ongoing development of energy-transforming systems is that devices used In power engineering meet with more difficult operating conditions when they co-operate directly with Power electronics circuits. High efficiency of power electronics circuits is achieved by switching power electronics elements on and off, often it is accomplished with PWM modulation. This approach causes emergence of very fast voltage gradients in the circuit, occurring at switching frequency. This may in turn adversely affect some elements of energy-transforming systems. We find such circuits in case of electric motors supplied from Power electronic converters, power electronics circuits for battery chargers, power electronics circuits used to trans form ecological energy obtained e.g. from solar batteries. We may cite here the example of inverters supplying induction motors; using inverters forced manufacturers to increase insulation level in these motors. Similar problem is encountered in case of using standard power engineering transformer in the circuit with Power electronics supply. The conducted tests of transformer oil show that after c. 5 years operation the oil had deeply degraded and this bears negative impact on insulation quality and significantly threatens transformer's life time.

Opis:: W artykule przedstawiono metodę rozszerzenia zakresu pomiarowego wzorca odniesienia miary mocy i energii, o zakres pomiaru dla małych prądów rzędu 1 mA. Zamieszczono wyniki pomiarów potwierdzające słuszność przyjętej metody oraz dokładność rozszerzonego zakresu pomiarowego wzorca.
Accurate measurements of power and energy of electrical equipment of small AC load current still create a lot of problems. That is why the issues concerning such measurements are presented in this paper. A reference standard for power and energy alternating current used in the Central Office of Measures in Poland is the standard energy meter RD-22. In the third section of this paper the reference standard RD-22 and its metrology characteristics are presented. The author of this work proposes a solution to extend the current range of the reference standard by adding an additional range for small currents. This solution enables accurate measurements of very small energy. The author describes a method for verification of the extended measuring range of alternating currents of the energy reference standard. The paper contains the results of measurements confirming the validity of this method and confirms the accuracy of the reference standard for this range. The main conclusion of this work is emphasizing the need for further research in the field of measurements of small AC current and small power and energy in cooperation with other scientific centers.

Opis:: Pomiary napięcia przemiennego w Głównym Urzędzie Miar są odnoszone do wzorców odtwarzanych przy napięciu stałym, wg zasady komparacji niejednoczesnej. W charakterze wzorca odniesienia przy napięciu przemiennym stosowane są zestawy przetworników termoelektrycznych. Struktura wzorca, dzięki różnym konfiguracjom, umożliwia pokrycie potrzeb wzorcowania tej wielkości do 1200 V i częstotliwości do 1 MHz. Omówiono istotę i źródła błędu komparacji, oraz sposób jego kompensacji. Schemat interkomparacji wzorca umożliwia odniesienie całej dziedziny do jednego przetwornika bazowego 1 VAC.
AC voltage measurements at the Central Office of Measures are being referenced to the standards restored at the DC voltage according to the principle of anti-coincidental comparison. As an AC voltage reference standard sets of thermoelectric converters are being used. Thanks to different configurations,the structure of the standard,enables covering the calibration needs of this quantity up to 1200 V at the frequency of up to 1 MHz. The nature and sources of comparison error were discussed as well as the way of its compensation. The schematic diagram of intercomparison enables referencing the whole field to one 1 VAC base converter.

Opis:: The paper deals with operational modes of HEV vehicle with direct AC/AC transfer and five-phase IM traction motors. Such configuration yields smaller voltage drops compared with the serial AC/DC/AC converter and five-phase machines offer some inherent advantages over their three-phase counterparts. Also, dynamical properties of HEV are better due to the absence of a DC link which has accumulating action. Other advantage includes reduced electromagnetic torque pulsation and also noise characteristics of the five-phase drives are better when compared with the three-phase ones. Possible operational modes enable to provide both the single and/or hybrid operations at driving and braking states.

The article discusses the method used at the Central Military Calibration Laboratory to calibrate Fluke 5790 AC/DC transfer standard with the reference transfer standard Fluke 792A. It presents the measurement equation and the uncertainty budget. The contribution of uncertainty components in the measurement uncertainty has been presented. The metrological traceability has been evaluated by comparing calibration results with the results in the last Fluke certificate of calibration.

Opis:: W latach 2000 - 2002 został zrealizowany w Akademii Morskiej w Szczecinie grant Komitetu Badań Naukowych RP na temat: Nowe podejście do zagadnienia zagrożeń pożarowych i porażeniowych w rozległych sieciach okrętowych typu IT (Nr. 8T10A 030 19). Rezultaty analizy układu z kompensacją paramertyczno-aktywną wykazują, że opracowane rozwiązanie spełnia warunki zabezpieczenia człowieka przed porażeniem prądem elektrycznym według IEC-479/1 oraz jednocześnie zabezpiecza statek przed powstaniem pożaru. Przedstawiony układ spełnia wymagania ochrony, a jego realizacja na stanowisku badawczym w Akademii Morskiej potwierdza zalety, do których można zaliczyć: 1. Prostą i skuteczną kompensację ciągłą prądu uszkodzonej fazy sieci typu IT, spełniającą wymagania IEC dla ochrony człowieka przed porażeniem jednofazowym (prąd rażenia jest niższy od dopuszczalnego tj. 10mA). 2. Kompensacja prądu zwarcia (galwanicznego) fazy do masy kadłuba jest skuteczna, przez co obniża się zagrożenie pożarowe i wybuchowe statku (prąd obniża się z poziomu 600 mA do poziomu 100 mA). 3. Układ nadaje się do aplikacji przemysłowej. Na rozwiązanie UP RP przyznał patent stały 22 czerwca 2004 r. Nr P. 337299.
In the years 2000 - 2002 a grant by the Republic of Poland's Scientific Research Committee was taken advantage of at the Maritime University of Szczecin, on the subject "A New Approach to the Problem of Fire and Electric Shock Threat in Extensive Ship Networks of the IT (Nr 8T10A 030 19) Type".Analysis results of the system with parametric-active compensation show that the solution worked out meets the conditions of safeguarding a man against electric shock according to IEC-479/1 and at the same time protects the ship against fire. The system presented meets protection requirements and its application at a test bed at the Maritime University confirms its merits, which include the following: 4. Simple and effective continuous current compensation of the damaged IT network phase meeting IEC requirements for safeguarding man against one-phase electric shock (electrocution current is lower than the permissible value of 10mA). 5. Compensation of short-circuit (galvanic) current of phase to mass of the hull is effective, whereby fire and explosion threat is diminished (the current comes down from the level of 600 mA 100 mA). 6. The system is fitted for industrial application. The solution was granted a constant patent by the Presidential Office of the Republic of Poland on 22nd June 2004,Patent Nr 337299.
