Opis:
We report on magnetization and magnetic hysteresis measurements for the (Tl$\text{}_{0.6}$Bi$\text{}_{0.5}$)(Sr$\text{}_{0.9}$Ba$\text{}_{0.1}$)$\text{}_{2}$Ca$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{y}$ Ag-sheathed superconducting tape as well as for the powdered and bulk (Tl$\text{}_{0.6}$Pb$\text{}_{0.5}$)(Sr$\text{}_{0.9}$Ba$\text{}_{0.1}$)$\text{}_{2}$Ca$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{y}$ superconductors. For the investigated tape and bulk specimens the low field magnetization showed a deviation from the ideal linear M(H) dependence, which was attributed to the superposition of inter- and intragrain superconducting currents. Fitting of the theoretical magnetization curves to the experimental data allowed for the independent determination of the intragrain critical current densities for the superconducting grains and intergrain critical current densities for the weak link system at 77K.

Specific heat of polycrystalline DyBa$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{7}$ and Tl$\text{}_{0.58}$Pb $\text{}_{0.42}$Sr$\text{}_{1.6}$Ba$\text{}_{0.4}$Ca$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{9}$ samples, as well as the single crystal of Bi$\text{}_{2}$Sr$\text{}_{2}$CaCu$\text{}_{2}$O$\text{}_{8}$ have been measured within the temperature interval from 50 to 250 K. For Dy- and Tl-specimens the pronounced jump in specific heat and apparent contribution from Gaussian fluctuations of superconducting order parameter close to T$\text{}_{c}$ have been observed. In contrary, for Bi-specimen only a rounded maximum within a broad interval around T$\text{}_{c}$ has been detected. Magnetoresistance measurements as a function of temperature just below T$\text{}_{c}$ have been carried out for Dy- and Tl-samples and the slopes of upper critical fields have been determined. The data have been analysed within a frame of Ginzburg-Landau-Abrikosov- Gorkov theory with additional Gaussian-like fluctuation term. The electronic specific heat coefficients γ, and the coherence length χ have been obtained.

Opis:
Single grain Y₁Ba₂Cu₃O_{7-x} (YBCO) bulk superconductors were prepared from different starting precursors. In the first case, Y₂Ba₁Cu₁O₅ (Y211) powder as the solid phase and the liquid phase of mixture of YBa₂Cu₃O_{7-x}+BaCuO₂+CuO powders were used. In the second case, the solid phase was prepared from the mixture of Y₂O₃+BaCuO₂ instead of the conventionally used Y211, and as the liquid phase a mixture of Y₂O₃+BaCuO₂+CuO powders was used. The trapped field measurements at 77 K were performed and microstructure of samples was studied by polarized light microscopy. The positive influence of Y₂O₃+BaCuO₂ starting precursor on the oxygenation, Y211 particle refinement and measured trapped field is shown.

Opis:
The effect of Sm addition on the microstructure and superconducting properties of Y-Ba-Cu-O (YBCO) bulk superconductors has been studied. Nominal composition: 1 mol YBa₂Cu₃O_{7-δ} + 0.25 mol Y₂O₃ + 1 wt% CeO₂ was enriched with different amounts of SmBa₂Cu₃O_y powder with the aim to increase critical current density, J_c, especially in higher magnetic fields by introducing additional pinning centers. Single grain YBCO bulk superconductors with SmBa₂Cu₃O_y (Y123-Sm) addition were prepared by the optimized top seeded melt growth process. Microstructure analysis, performed by polarized light microscope, revealed that SmBa₂Cu₃O_y addition leads to a higher amount of slightly coarser Y₂BaCuO₅ particles, which is related to lower critical current densities (J_c ≈ 6×10⁴ A/cm²) of the YBCO samples with SmBa₂Cu₃O_y addition in low magnetic fields. On the other hand, an enhancement of critical current density, J_c, in higher magnetic fields was observed for Y123-Sm samples. Moreover, a maximum trapped magnetic field, B_{tmax}, of 564 mT at 77 K in Y123-Sm, x=0.0025 sample (Ø 17.2 mm) was 43% higher than that for YBCO sample without any addition.

Opis:
a- and c-axis oriented YBa$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{x}$ (YBCO) films were epitaxially grown on (100) and (001) YBCO single-crystal substrates, respectively, by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition under the same preparation conditions including substrate temperature. As a Ba precursor Ba(DPM)$\text{}_{2}$-2tetraen was adopted. This precursor increased a deposition rate for YBCO films to 50 nm/h at 140°C. The substrates were formed from a 14.5x14.5x13 mm YBCO single crystal grown by a modified top-seeded crystal pulling method. Only a few surface atomic layers remained damaged after polishing and cleaning, which however did not affect the epitaxy of film growth. The crystallinity of the interface between an epilayer and substrate was much improved compared to that on usual perovskite substrates.
