Opis:
In this paper, we present a proper quantum system to perform different tasks of quantum information processing with optimal conditions. We study the populations, entanglement, and nonclassical properties of a system consisting of three level atom interacting with a nonlinear Kerr medium field constructed in the framework of generalized Heisenberg algebra. We quantify these quantities in terms of different parameters involved in the whole system considering the case of moving and stationary atom in the real experimental meaning of the coupling constant. The nonlinearity introduced by these kinds of fields play a useful role to create high amount of entanglement during the time evolution. Interestingly, the relationship between the degree of nonlinearity and robust of entanglement is explored in this present model.

We study the spontaneous emission from a regular lateral array or a randomly distributed ensemble of quantum dots under strong excitation (full inversion) conditions. We focus on the similarities and differences between the cases of random and regular arrangement of the dots and show that there is very little difference between the evolution of luminescence in these two cases, both for identical dots and for a realistically inhomogeneously broadened ensemble. This means that the enhanced emission or superradiance effect is not due to accidental clustering of pairs of dots. Moreover, we point out that observation of an enhanced emission under weak excitation does not prove that true superradiance will develop in a fully inverted system.

We study the spontaneous emission from a coherently delocalized exciton state in a double quantum dot as a function of the distance between the dots, focusing on the similarities and differences between the cases of radiative (long-range, dipole) and tunnel coupling between the excitons in the dots. We show that there may be no qualitative difference between the collective emission induced by these two coupling types in spite of their essentially different physical properties.

Opis:
In this paper, by employing two practical methods of multi-electrode design and tapered waveguide structure, compensation techniques to restore declining carrier density along the quantum dot semiconductor optical amplifier's waveguide are investigated. In the multi-electrode method, the effects of distributing current via electrodes on the gain and the cross-gain modulation for two, three and four-electrode structures are studied. These characteristics are also investigated for the quantum dot semiconductor optical amplifiers with a tapered waveguide structure for the first time, including waveguides with different profiles and width ratios. After due comparison between these two methods, optimum parameters of the two techniques will be used simultaneously along each other to form a combined method. Through these design developments, gain as the main feature of the quantum dot semiconductor optical amplifiers continuously increases, though cross-gain modulator results show that there is a trade-off between the modulation efficiency and improving structure capability of restoring carrier density.

This paper provides an entropy analysis to resonant and short pulses propagation in four-level atomic medium. As an example, we take D_{1} transition in rubidium ^{87}Rb atoms including hyperfine structure. We show how to construct the time dependent Bloch-metric for each optical transition in the Liouville space. Furthermore, we attempt to relate local stabilization of the pulse area to the distribution of the space-entropy.

We analyse the three-colour electromagnetically induced transparency for the D$\text{}_{1}$ transition in cold $\text{}^{87}$Rb atoms. We report an enhancement of the electromagnetically induced emission of a drive field as an exclusive enhancement of the third- and fourth-rank components of the density matrix. Moreover, the gain experienced by the drive field is attributed to the influence of the quantum switching effect on the increased absorption of the probe field. The electromagnetically induced emission effect is employed to generate slow light Gaussian-wave trains with shape preserving. These soliton trains were not only generated in the drive channel as has been designated but also in the switch channel which reveals multiple-light storage phenomenon.

We illustrate the physics of two-frequency lasers by two examples. The first example illustrates the fundamental consequences of the existence of two eigenstates on the laser line width. We indeed show experimentally that the non-orthogonality of these two eigenstates results in an increase in the laser quantum noise. We also give a physical explanation of this vectorial excess noise factor. The second example illustrates the capabilities of two-frequency lasers in terms of applications. In the domain of RF frequency generation by optical means, we show how a pulsed two-frequency source can be built for lidar-radar applications and pulsed RF frequency generation.

Opis:
Speckle technique is based on the light intensity distribution randomly formed when a laser light is reflected on a rough surface, creating a pattern of illuminated grains (constructively) and dark (destructive) on scales of 1 μm. When the samples are displaced or deformed, the speckle pattern is altered. In this paper we present speckle patterns obtained from samples of gastric mucosa that is physically altered for the carcinogenesis process. Biopsies were studied with different diagnoses and were grouped according to the characteristics of speckle patterns. Speckle patterns were obtained by illuminating the samples with green laser. Morphological parameters of the speckle patterns reveal existence of 3 descriptors: the average grain size, hydraulic radius and the radio of the Weddel disc, which showed a high, intermediate and low value. The comparison shows agreement between the histopathological diagnosis and the values obtained by the speckle technique, making this technique emerge as a new classification system for quantitative diagnosis of precancerous lesions.

We experimentally demonstrate a new electromagnetic one-recording-channel time-reversal mirror that can operate at high frequencies and high bandwidths. The experiments are carried out in a 1 m$\text{}^{3}$ ray-chaotic enclosure using two simple antennas. The input is a 7.0 GHz signal that is amplitude modulated with a 60 ns long pulse. The time-reversal focused signal has a peak-signal-to-noise ratio of about 9 dB, and is very sensitive to small perturbations to the ray-chaotic enclosure. The results are consistent with expectations for single-recording-channel time-reversal mirrors, and establish a new platform for study of fundamental issues in time-domain wave chaos, as well as novel applications.

Opis:
In recent years there is an increasing interest in obtaining and investigating composite materials that comprise nanoparticles as fillers and polymers as matrix. Such composites may display combined features of both components, and sometimes even novel properties resulting from their mutual interactions. It is important that both unique size-dependent properties of nanoparticles and favorable properties of polymer material remain preserved in the composite. In this research we investigated the possibility of obtaining composite material using as polymer matrix poly (methyl methacrylate) - PMMA and $Gd_{2}O_{3}:Eu^{3+}$ nanopowder as filler. Three samples, containing 1, 3 and 5 mass % of $Gd_{2}O_{3}:Eu^{3+}$, are prepared with a dispersion casting method. The composites exhibited characteristic red emission coming from the $\text{}^{5}D_{0} → \text{}^{7}F_{2}$ transition of $Eu^{3+}$ ion in $Gd_{2}O_{3}:Eu^{3+}$. The observed lifetime values, around 1.1 ms, are quite high and suggest successful encapsulation of dopant ions in polymer through gadolinium oxide host. Experimental intensity parameters, transition rates and quantum efficiency of the $\text{}^{5}D_{0}$ emission are calculated from emission spectra using Judd-Ofelt theory. Influence of $Gd_{2}O_{3}:Eu^{3+}$ filler on the modification of glass transition and thermo-degradable properties of the polymer matrix is also investigated. Thermal analyses give evidence of unchanged thermal stability of polymer phase in the composites.

A detailed optical investigation has been done with photoluminescence measurements in the energy and time domains. The photon avalanche effect has been recently observed at room temperature in erbium doped fluoride glasses and crystals, in a particularly clear way, displaying simultaneously all the typical features of this effect: (i) existence of a threshold for transmission at the excitation wavelength, (ii) up-conversion excitation threshold, (iii) long delay for threshold establishment. Analysing the first step of the avalanche effect as an anti-Stokes multiphonon absorption, it can be shown why this effect is so clearly observed at room temperature in our erbium studies. Our results are compared with other cases of avalanche, with cases which have been called "looping effects" and "quasi-avalanche" ones.
