The objective of this study was to analyze the results obtained from tests done by simulating the crash landing of a rotary wing unmanned air vehicle with a skid type landing gear. The experimental and computational methods were used in the simulation tests. In the first portion of the test; namely with the experimental method, the impact loads induced by the simulated crash landing and the stresses, strains, deformations generated by these loads, were recorded by drop test apparatus. In the second portion of the test with the computational method, free falling of the skid type landing gear was modeled and crash landing test was simulated numerically by using ANSYS code. Experimental methods were applied on four skid landing gear specimens with different shapes. Each of the test samples used in the following test was evolved because each sample was developed and redesigned based on the feedback results obtained from the former test.The first three test specimens were manufactured from 2024 T3, 7075 T6 and 6061 T6 aluminum alloys respectively and all of them were curved in Π-form with a solid cross section. The last and fourth specimen was also manufactured from 6061 T6 aluminum alloy and it was curved in a hollow semi-circle form (∩-form). It is concluded that the last and fourth developed specimen was the best in absorbing the impact energy and enduring the crash.

In the framework of the matrix product state representation the effect of a sudden turning on of the uniaxial anisotropy on the time evolution of the Haldane state has been investigated. Depending on the value of the uniaxial anisotropy parameter, the calculations were derived within (or outside) the region where the Haldane gap survives. An exact expression for the time evolution of the Loschmidt echo has been derived and, moreover, its collapse and revival behaviour was captured. In addition, the non-local order parameter of a time evolving state was tracked, revealing two types of relaxations.

Many advances in electromagnetic (EM) propulsion technology have occurred in recent years. Linear motor technology for low-velocity and high-mass applications is being developed for naval catapults and missile launchers. Such technology could serve as the basis for the launch of a first-stage booster launch - for example, as suggested some years ago by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the Maglifter concept. For higher velocities, experimental laboratory railguns have demonstrated launch velocities of 2-3 km/s and muzzle energies greater than 10 MJ. The extension of this technology to the muzzle velocities ( ≥ 7500 m/s) and energies (hundreds of megajoules) needed for the direct launch of payloads into orbit is very challenging but may not be impossible. For launch to orbit, long launchers (> 1000 m) would need to operate at accelerations > 1000 G to reach the required velocities, so it would only be possible to launch rugged payloads, such as fuel, water, and material. This paper provides an overview of these concepts and includes a summary of the recent advances made in this area.

Opis:
An important feature of zinc oxide and gallium nitride materials are their similar physical properties. This allows to use them as a p-n junction materials for applications in optoelectronics. In earlier work we presented use of ZnO as a transparent contact to GaN, which may improve external efficiency of LED devices. In this work we discuss properties of a n-ZnO/p-GaN heterostructure and discuss its optimization. The heterostructure is investigated by us for possible applications, e.g. in a new generation of UV LEDs or UV light detectors.

By means of exact diagonalization we consider the groundstate of the J$\text{}_{1}$-J$\text{}_{2}$ spin 1/2 Heisenberg model with an anisotropic interaction term of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya type. We find that a Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction may create a weak ferromagnetic moment. The interplay between the quantum nature of the groundstate of the pure J$\text{}_{1}$-J$\text{}_{2}$ model and the anisotropic Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction favour energetically a well-defined direction of spin alignment creating anisotropic correlations.

Opis:
Imaging properties of the concave microlens are presented. Microlenses are produced by using tot'hema eosin sensitized gelatin and 532 nm laser irradiation (2nd Nd:YAG harmonic). Imaging properties of microlenses are analized by calculation: the RMS wave front aberration, the diffraction point spread function cross section and the spot diagram. The obtained microlenses had excellent, near diffraction limited, performance for the moderate field angles.

Color rendering index is a measure that demonstrates how much a light source reveals colors in nature. Single crystals of SrPrGaO$\text{}_{4}$ and SrLaGaO$\text{}_{4}$ have been grown using the Czochralski technique. Both materials melt incongruently at 1462°C and 1516°C. The non-stoichiometric crystals contain more strontium than the starting melts. Constitutional supercooling is retarded by special growth conditions and optimum melt composition. Because of their small mismatch both crystals are recommended as substrates for YBa$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{7-x}$ epitaxy.

Opis:
Multicomponent single phase alloys were synthesized according to the idea of iron-average atom system. X-ray diffraction shows formation of bcc phase and traces of unidentified phase. Mössbauer spectra indicate presence of two components with different hyperfine magnetic field distributions. The high field component corresponds to the majority ferromagnetic phase. Few per cent of iron builds low field component. The dominant effect of annealing consists in an increase of the low field component.

The idea of thermal tomography is slicing a work piece for some in-depth layers which exhibit the distribution of thermal properties in materials by the analogy with X-ray tomography. Thermal tomography is based on the analysis of the surface temperature evolution which follows thermal stimulation of test samples. In this paper, some experimental results of applying the dynamic thermal tomography algorithm to a carbon fibre reinforced plastic sample are presented. The efficiency of few data processing methods is discussed.

Single layers of ZnSe with thicknesses of 30, 40, 50, 70 and 100 nm are deposited at room substrate temperature by thermal evaporation of ZnSe powder in vacuum. The layers surface morphology has been investigated by atomic force microscopy. Structural characterization by the Raman scattering measurement revealed the existence of randomly oriented crystalline ZnSe particles in all layers, and the presence of amorphous phase in layers thinner than 100 nm. The ellipsometric measurements were performed in the range from 1.5 to 5 eV at room temperature in air. To interpret the experimental results, the Bruggeman effective medium approximation of dielectric function of ZnSe layers has been used, representing the layers as different mixtures of crystalline ZnSe (c-ZnSe), amorphous ZnSe (a-ZnSe), and voids. The assumption of polycrystalline ZnSe layers modeled as mixture of porous c-ZnSe (with volume fraction of voids ≈ 0.17) and a-ZnSe gives the best fit of ellipsometric experimental data. Single layer thicknesses similar to those expected from preparation conditions have been obtained by this fitting procedure. It has been also found that decrease in the layer thickness causes an increase of the volume fraction of a-ZnSe. Thus, c-ZnSe/a-ZnSe ratio, porosity and layer thickness obtained by spectroscopic ellipsometry, provides useful information about crystallinity and micro-/nanostructure of ZnSe nanolayers.

Nanocrystalline porous silicon films, which have been formed by using simple wet electrochemical etching process in HF electrolyte, were applied for passivation of high power silicon diodes. An optimal technology was designed to manufacture a uniform layer of porous silicon over the area of the p-n junction. The 8% increase in the yield was achieved onO100 mm diameter wafers with 69 cells of diodes in each, by using a very simple technology for the formation of porous layer for passivation of high power silicon diodes.

In the present study, the kinetics of meta-kaolinite (Al₂O₃·2SiO₂) formation from Algerian Tamazarte kaolin was investigated by using differential thermal analysis. The differential thermal analysis and the thermogravimetric experiments were carried out on samples between room temperature and 1400°C, at heating rates from 10 to 40°C min¯¹. X-ray diffraction was used to identify the phases present in the samples. The activation energies measured by differential thermal analysis from isothermal and non-isothermal treatments using Johnson-Mehl-Avrami methods with Ligero approximation and using Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose methods were around 145 and 159 kJ/mol, respectively. The Avrami parameter n which indicates the growth morphology parameters were found to be almost equal to 1.60, using non-isothermal treatments, and equal to 1.47 using isothermal treatments. The numerical factor which depends on the dimensionality of crystal growth was 1.60 obtained using Matusita et al. equation. The frequency factor calculated using the isothermal treatment is equal to 1.173× 10⁷ s¯¹. Analysis of the results have shown that bulk nucleation was dominant during kaolinite transformation, followed by three-dimensional growth of meta-kaolinite with polyhedron-like morphology, controlled by diffusion from a constant number of nuclei.
