Wprowadzanie do szkół ponadgimnazjalnych nowej podstawy programowej z przedmiotu geografia od samego początku budziło opory i było negatywnie oceniane w środowisku nauczycielskim. W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań, których celem było poznanie opinii – oceny nauczycieli z województwa łódzkiego na temat nowej podstawy programowej, realizowanej w szkołach ponadgimnazjalnych. Płaszczyzny oceny dotyczyły przede wszystkim doboru i zakresu treści realizowanych na poziomie podstawowym, metod pracy oraz jej efektów. Ważnym aspektem tych badań było określenie wpływu wprowadzonych zmian programowych na rangę geografii jako przedmiotu szkolnego. W pracy zastosowano metodę wywiadu swobodnego ukierunkowanego. Zasadnicze badania przeprowadzono we wrześniu 2013 roku, a w listopadzie 2013 roku przeprowadzono badania uzupełniające, dotyczące spostrzeżeń i doświadczeń nauczycieli wynikających z realizacji programu rozszerzonego geografii. Badaniami tymi objęto głównie nauczycieli geografii z dużym doświadczeniem pedagogicznym – posiadających stopień awansu zawodowego nauczyciela dyplomowanego lub mianowanego.
The recent implementation of a new secondary school curriculum in Poland which includes geography teaching program, have aroused resistance and has been negatively rated among teachers from the very beginning. This resulted in the need to examine the first consequence of the latest reform. The article aims to present the results of the research investigating teachers’ opinions on the changes in the curriculum. An important part of the research was focused on the changes in the selection and scope of the subject content at the standard level of geography education in secondary school, along with the shift in teaching methods and their effectiveness. Secondly, a fundamental aim of the research was to examine the changes in the position and rank of geography as a school subject. The oriented interview method was applied. The main part of the research was undertaken in September 2013 and a complementary research was conducted in November 2013. The study involved only the teachers with extensive professional experience (certified teachers).

In this paper, the authors determined the specific features of the construction of budgets in Poland and Norway and showed areas of tourism occurrence in the budget classifications of both countries. Then, thoroughly analysed the expenditures made by municipalities and counties of the Lodz region, booked in the financial accounts which content was strongly connected with tourism. Authors had focused on direct relationship, as well as indirect effects on the development of tourism through promotion, development of culture and sport. The obtained results were compared with corresponding values observed in the Norwegian county of Oppland and its municipalities. It should be emphasized that by completing the research project, authors gained knowledge to identify strengths and weaknesses of the of local budgets in Poland and Norway. Flexibility of classification and the high comparability of local government units\\\' budgets at all levels are the main advantages of Polish budgets. On the other hand, the precise description of budgets and high quality of official statistics are undoubtedly advantages of Norwegian local government budgets. The fact is that the resources available to the Norwegian local authorities, even after taking into account the difference between purchasing power of the Norwegian krone and Polish zloty, are objectively higher. It is worth noting that the amount of funds allocated to finance specific activities, such as those related to the development of tourism, cannot be equated with the efficiency of their spending. However this question was not the subject of research undertaken by the authors. Described research project gives the authors the ability to assess the position of tourism in the Polish and Norwegian budget classification. Although the Polish classification revealed a dedicated account that was directly connected with tourism, at the same time it was diagnosed to have minor importance in planning and constructing local budgets. Therefore, the problem with both Polish and Norwegian budgets is the lack of possibilities to perform simple estimations of the amount of resources assigned to the areas of tourism development. The authors suggest to perform a specific study within this range and develop a diagnosis of individual tasks financed by the government and determine the degree of their impact on the development of tourism in the municipalities or counties. Therefore they hope that this article will be a contribution to make further research on the importance of tourism in local government budgets.

The paper presents an analysis of human migration and its main economic and social factors in Polish voivodeships. The main reason of migration is based on differences in the standards of living in different locations. Important factors indicating difference are unemployment rates, average gross wages, housing conditions and access to education. This paper also presents description of econometric model – estimation results confirm correlation between migration balance and socioeconomic factors.

The article aims to evaluate the cooperation of Polish farmers from ŁódźVoivodeship with science and other farmers in the field of implementing innovation in farms. Paper and Pencil Interview (PAPI) method was used. The analysis covers150 Polish farms located in the Łódź Voivodeship. The farms for the study were selected from the Polish FADN (Farm Accountancy Data Network) sample. The study was made in 2018. The conducted research has proved that interest in scientific achieve-ments depends on the innovativeness of farms. The cooperation between Polish farmers from Łódź Voivodeship in the field of innovation activity does not differ in terms of their farming type. A conse-quence of the farms' selection is the lack of the ability to generalise the results to the entire population of farms in the Łódź Voivodeship. The added value of the analysis is the presentation of the results in terms of farm innovation.
Celem artykułu jest ocena współpracy polskich rolników z województwa łódzkiego z nauką i innymi rolnikami w zakresie wdrażania innowacji w gospodarstwach rolnych. Wykorzystano metodę Paper and Pencil Interview (PAPI). Analiza obejmuje 150 polskich gospodarstw położonych w województwie łódzkim. Gospodarstwa do badań zostały wybrane z próby Polskiego FADN (Sieć Danych Rachunkowych Gospodarstw Rolnych). Badania wykonano w 2018 roku. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały, że zainteresowanie osiągnięciami naukowymi zależy od innowacyjności gospodarstw. Relacje polskich rolników z województwa łódzkiego w zakresie działalności innowacyjnej nie różnią się w zależności od prowadzonej działalności. Konsekwencją doboru podmiotów jest brak możliwości uogólnienia wyników na całą populację gospodarstw w województwie łódzkim. Wartością dodaną analizy jest prezentacja wyników w zakresie innowacyjności gospodarstw.

The main aim of the author was to determine the influence range of towns in the light of their economic linkages. The text is part of the author’s larger research project which focuses on the problem of identification and delimitation of functional areas of small and medium-sized towns. An important element of the analyses, apart from their cognitive aspect, is a proposal of an independent tool to measure the phenomenon of economic linkages with the use of data included in the REGON (National Register of Business Entities) database. All the analyses have been conducted on the basis of 38 small and medium-sized towns in the Lodz voivodeship.

Toxocariasis is a zoonosis due to infection of humans by dog or cat roundworm (Toxocara canis, T. cati). Humans become infected by ingestion of infective eggs either from soil, dirty hands, raw fruits and vegetables or larvae from undercooked meat of paratenic hosts. The aim of the study was to evaluate the level of contamination of soil samples from households of children with diagnosed toxocariasis in rural and urban areas of Łódź voivodeship. In the years 2004–2007 toxocariasis was confirmed in 178 patients of the Polish Memorial Hospital in Łódź. The soil samples were collected from 53 courtyards of patients’ domiciles. Toxocara spp. eggs were isolated from the samples using flotation technique (Dada 1979). The examinations revealed the high prevalence of ground contamination with Toxocara eggs in both, rural (30.4%) and urban areas (23.3%). The presence of Toxocara eggs in households enlarges the risk of re-infection for children with diagnosed toxocariasis, especially in rural areas where the high level of contamination was detected.

Opis:
Every year official data on forest area in Poland is published by the Statistics Poland. Some of this data is based on land use information contained in the Land and Property Registry (LPR). The aim of this study was to examine compliance between forest areas obtained from official land use maps and from aerial photos. Another purpose was to investigate the impact of forest complexes fragmentation on the accuracy of forests area evaluation, using land use data. The Łódź voivodeship was selected as the study area and 280 sample plots (1 km2) were established in systematic 8×8 km grid on aerial photos. Forest areas were manually inventoried using GIS software and compared with LPR maps. In the next step inventoried forests were combined into complexes using spatial analysis. The results from this study demonstrate that 3,4% of the Łódź voivodeship is covered by forest vegetation on lands not recorded as a forest in the LPR. Therefore real value of forest area is possibly higher than those based upon data published by Statistics Poland. Additionally, the part of lands with forest vegetation not recorded as a forest in LPR in total forest area has a statistical relationship with forest complex fragmentation. Much of inventoried forest complexes (41%) officially are not considered as such because of different land use record in LPR. However, our research shows that most of them (given area not the number of objects) is located in forest complexes partly recorded in LPR with correct land use record.

According to the World Health Organization, chronic diseases are a growing cause of death in the world. Due to their long-term nature, they generate high medical private and public costs. For this reason, performing analysis of spatial differentiation of the dynamics of morbidity is the key element of effective management of the health sector and implementation of health policy. The purpose of this article is spatial-temporal analysis of the incidence of chronic diseases and their impact on health spending in Poland by province. The study used the tools of geographic information systems and the exploratory analysis of the spatial data. The study mainly focuses on the characteristics of variables: morbidity, health expenditure and budgets of households by province. The test was performed on the basis of statistical data, the report on “The health situation of the Polish population and its determinants” published by the National Institute of Hygiene in the period 2008-2012. The results would be found use full to assess the spatial-temporal distribution of the incidence of chronic diseases and their impact on health expenditure.
Zgodnie z informacjami Światowej Organizacji Zdrowia, choroby przewlekłe stanowią coraz większą przyczynę zgonów na świecie. Ze względu na ich długofalowy charakter generują one wysokie koszty medyczne zarówno publiczne jak i prywatne. Z tego względu prowadzenie analiz przestrzennego zróżnicowania dynamiki zachorowalności stanowi kluczowy element efektywnego zarządzania sektorem ochrony zdrowia i realizowania polityki zdrowotnej. Celem artykułu jest przestrzenno-czasowa analiza zachorowalności na choroby przewlekłe i ich wpływ na wydatki na zdrowie w Polsce z podziałem na województwa. W badaniu wykorzystano narzędzia geograficznych systemów informacyjnych oraz eksploracyjnej analizy danych przestrzennych. W opracowaniu głównie skoncentrowano się na charakterystyce zmiennych: zachorowalności, wydatków na zdrowie oraz budżetów gospodarstw z podziałem na województwa. Badanie wykonano na podstawie danych statystycznych, raportu „Sytuacja zdrowotna ludności polski i jej uwarunkowania” publikowanych przez Państwowy Zakład Higieny w okresie 2008-2012. Uzyskane wyniki powinny okazać się użyteczne do oceny przestrzenno-czasowego rozkładu zachorowalności na choroby przewlekłe oraz ich wpływu na wydatki na zdrowie.

W obliczu nowego wyzwania jakim była pandemia COVID–19 konieczne stały się nowe formy pracy i zarządzania instytucją. Celem autorki artykułu jest przedstawienie problemów z tym związanych z punktu widzenia administrowania wojewódzką biblioteką publiczną, uwzględniających otoczenie prawne, bezpieczeństwo finansowe i społeczne pracowników oraz realizację zadań statutowych. Należało znaleźć nowe formy pracy na rzecz użytkowników biblioteki, powodujące dylematy między pracą zdalną a fizyczną obecnością pracowników w miejscu pracy. W tych okolicznościach, nieoczekiwanie pojawiły się duże przedsięwzięcia jakimi były – wielka przeprowadzka magazynów bibliotecznych oraz przyjęcie księgozbioru profesora Włodzimierza Krysińskiego z Kanady. Jednocześnie pandemiczne uwarunkowania uwidoczniły, po raz kolejny, wszechstronność zawodu bibliotekarza – poza innymi pozytywnymi cechami – kreatywność z wykorzystaniem nowych technologii.
Facing the new challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic new forms of work and management of the institution became necessary. The aim of the author of the article is to present the related problems related to the administration of the voivodeship public library, considering the legal environment, financial and social security of employees and the implementation of statutory tasks. It was necessary to find new forms of work for the library users, causing dilemmas between remote work and the physical presence of employees at the workplace. In these circumstances, unexpectedly appeared large undertakings such as – the great relocation of library warehouses and the acceptance of the book collection of Professor Włodzimierz Krysiński from Canada. At the same time, the pandemic conditions revealed, once again, the versatility of the librarian profession - apart from other positive features - creativity with the use of new technologies.

The business environment institutions may influence the development of regions. They provide services that encourage establishing and developing enterprises. We have to deal with the correlation in two directions, the development of a region depends on the quality of business environment institutions, and business environment institutions are dependent on the level and dynamics of the growth in the region which determine demand for business support services. The main purpose of this article was to evaluate activities of business environment institutions aimed at attracting and keeping foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Lodz region. With limited organizational and financial possibilities of public administration, business environment institutions may play an important part in attracting and keeping FDI in the region. They may also act as a liaison between the local government and entrepreneurs as well as perform some tasks that are not, for different reasons, performed by public administration.

Opis:
Przedmiotem tego opracowania jest rozwój oraz struktura ludności województwa łódzkiego w okresie ponad stu ostatnich lat. Szczegółowej analizie podlegały przemiany ludnościowe tego regionu w czterech okresach: 1) do 1918 roku, 2) 1918–1945, 3) 1946–1989, 4) 1990–2018. Uwzględniono również prognozę demograficzną dla województwa do 2050 r. Strukturę ludności rozpatrywano, biorąc pod uwagę jej podział według cech demograficznych, społeczno-ekonomicznych, społeczno-kulturowych i przestrzennych. Zasadniczym celem pracy było ustalenie ogólnych tendencji w rozwoju i restrukturalizacji ludności województwa łódzkiego oraz jej typologii przestrzennej.
The subject of this study was the development and structural transformation of the population of the Łódź Voivodeship over the last more than one hundred years. Population transformations were analysed for four periods: 1) pre-1918; 2) 1918–1945; 3) 1946–1989; and 4) 1990–2018. A demographic forecast of the Łódź Voivodeship was made up to 2050. The structure of the population of the investigated region was considered, taking into consideration the population according to demographic, socio-economic and socio-cultural divisions and spatial features. The basic aim of the author was to establish general tendencies in the development and restructuring of the population of the Łódź region and its spatial typology.

W artykule zostały przybliżone parametry, dotyczące taboru autobusowego, jaki był wykorzystywany w publicznym transporcie zbiorowym trzech miast wojewódzkich, tj. Łodzi, Poznania i Wrocławia na przestrzeni lat 2000 - 2014. Aby odzwierciedlić poziom jego eksploatacji autorzy zaprezentowali wskaźniki, odnoszące się do stanu inwentarzowego autobusów miejskich (w tym także do ich przystosowania do przewozu osób niepełnosprawnych), zakupów i kasacji pojazdów, ich średniego wieku czy też liczby miejsc w wozach.
Article concerns parameters that pertain to urban bus fleet used in public transport in 3 capitals of voivodeship: Łodź, Poznań, Wrocław over the period of 2000-2014. In order to illustrate the level of exploitation of fleet, authors of this article have presented indicators of condition of buses (in addition, their adjustment to transporting the disabled), purchase and scrapping of the vehicles, their average age and capacity.
