    Ananda Devi is a francophone-Mauritian writer who lives (and creates) near Geneva. She is the author of numerous novels, short stories and volumes of poetry. Although the stories of her characters are fictitious, Devi’s texts are strongly inspired by her native island, its history and its ethnic, cultural and linguistic heterogeneity. In her novels, Devi employs numerous stylistic devices to empower individuals who are regarded as worse, excluded from the society due to their deficits.

    Ananda Devi, an accomplished modern writer from Mauritius, creates texts that are difficult to classify according to their style and genre. The author is reluctant to accept the treatment of her writings as feminist, particularly Western European feminist, they are surely closer to postcolonial feminism and eco-feminism. Nevertheless, the status of women, their rights and tolerance for otherness are the key elements of Devi’s artistic expression. Her characters rebel against the patriarchal society, they endeavour to discover their own place and identity, which frequently means regaining control over their bodies in the first stage of the transformation. Devi’s female characters live close to nature, where they find comfort, some of them go through a regress to the world of animals and plants.

    Ananda Devi’s family island, Mauritius, constitutes the background for her novels. Mauritius is a multiethnic society whose population is approximate to that of Warsaw, with four main religions and seventeen or eighteen languages (depending on a source), of which eight are used every day. However, this socio-cultural variety which we can find practically everywhere (in common life, beliefs as well as in literature), still remains taboo. The problem of social exclusion is one of the main threads in Devi’s novels. She describes people whose beliefs, convictions, behaviours and external appearance differ from what is commonly accepted by the society. She gives a voice to socially excluded individuals, giving them a chance to speak for themselves. The author concentrates on marginalization and rejection of women who are “different” due to appearance, deformation of the body, or bad karma.     Wychodząc od wizyty w maju 2019 roku maurytyjskiej pisarki Anandy Devi w Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau, autor artykułu ukazuje emocje bezpośrednio towarzyszące zwiedzaniu tego upamiętniającego masową zagładę miejsca, w pełni uzewnętrznione w literackim pokłosiu, na które składa się nowela Wzgórza pomyślana jako swoista nekuja – przywołanie, a w istocie stworzenie postaci typowych ofiar Auschwitz, ale przecież również wklejony do niewydanej jeszcze powieści o tematyce zupełnie niezwiązanej z Polską zjadliwy fragment o zjawisku, które pisarka odbiera jako nekroturystykę. Spoglądając na Holokaust z punktu widzenia swojej ojczyzny, dla której najbardziej znanym punktem odniesienia jest RPA, Ananda Devi rozszerza swoją wizję przemocy także na zjawisko apartheidu, masowych komunistycznych zbrodni w ChRL i na krwawy konflikt żydowsko-arabski na terytorium należącym obecnie do Państwa Izrael. Te rozważania pisarki wpisują się w szerszy nurt refleksji, którego ostatnim literackim przejawem jest trójjęzyczny poemat Ceux du large o tragicznym losie imigrantów usiłujących przedostać się morzem do Europy Południowej.
    The author of this article considers the emotions expressed by the Mauritian writer Ananda Devi in the literary aftermath of her May 2019 visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum, a memorial to mass extermination. Devi’s novella Hills, deliberately conceived as a nekyia, recalls to life, and in fact re-embodies, victims of Auschwitz. The novella can also be thought of as a sort of virulent fragment, stuck to an unpublished novel about a subject completely unrelated to Poland and concerning a phenomenon that the writer perceives as necro-tourism. Looking at the Holocaust from the point of view of her homeland, for which South Africa is the best known point of reference, Ananda Devi expands her vision of violence to consider the phenomenon of apartheid, mass communist crimes in the People’s Republic of China and the bloody Arab-Israeli conflict in the territory which now belongs to Israel. Devi’s reflections represent a broader current in her thinking, the most recent expression of which is the tri-lingual poem Ceux du large, which treats of the tragic fate of immigrants on their way to southern Europe by sea.

    This article examines three novels by Ananda Devi, a well‑known francophone novelist from Mauritius, the author of many novels, short stories and poetry books. In her novels, theauthor portrays the lives of women, the roles and norms that have been imposed on them, as well as their place in the conservative and patriarchal society in Mauritius and in India. The protagonists of Pagli, Le Voile de Draupadi and Indian tango, whilst searching for their identity, rebel against the society, their families and religion which marginalise them and deny their right to make decisions about their own lives. The protagonists of Devi’s novels by objecting to such a lifestyle, by violating the social norms and breaching bans, discover their identity. Pagli symbolically rediscovers her true name, Anjali freedom and Subhadra her body/sexuality.     Argumentation skills play a vital role in students’ ability to master the learning process because, by employing these skills, they can explain real-world phenomena scientifically. This research focused on developing an argumentation tool based on the engineering design process (EDP) to improve students’ argumentation skills in science classrooms. This study utilised the research methods outlined by Plomp & Nieveen, which include problem identification, design, and implementation stages. This study, which involved 150 junior high school student participants, was conducted to implement the argumentation tool as a learning material to help students to understand heat transfer information in science learning. The indicators of argumentation skills included claims, evidence, and reasoning. The study results showed that five experts validated the argumentation tool in science learning development as appropriate for implementation as a practical tool in the science learning classroom. Furthermore, students’ argumentation skills improved significantly, mainly related to developing claims and collecting evidence based on the N-gain evaluation.

    The fishing ground can be determined by detecting oceanography parameters in seawater area. One of the oceanographic parameters that can be used is chlorophyll-a. This research aims to analyze the relationship between chlorophyll-a and total catch of shortfin scad along with potential map areas for fishing shortfin scad (Decapterus sp.) in Pekalongan seawater. The research was conducted in two stages, which are field data collection in January and downloading and processing satellite image data in February. This research used the survey method with spatial analysis. Primary spatial data used is the distribution of chlorophyll-a and data of shortfin scad fishing production. The study shows an average concentration of chlorophyll-a from 2013-2017 in Pekalongan seawater ranges around 0,16 - 1,55 mg/m3. The result of linear regression test shows that chlorophyll-a has a role as one of the factors that influence the total catch of shortfin scad in Pekalongan seawater, East Java by 23%. Other factors influence the remaining 77%. Based on the assessment of fishing ground, there are 25 potential coordinate points of shortfin scad fishing area in Pekalongan seawater that can be categorized as a potential fishing ground.

    Purpose: This study focuses on identifying aspects that can influence the behavior of consumers who make purchases at thematic cafes in Malang. This study uses a thematic store atmosphere as an independent variable, impulse buying behavior as a dependent variable, as well as positive emotion and impulse buying tendency as mediating variables. Design / Method / Approach: Quantitative approaches and explanatory research are used in this study. The respondents in this study were consumers who had visited the thematic cafe in Malang city, and a purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 200 respondents was used to determine the number of samples. The data collection method used a questionnaire, and the data were analyzed by PLS-SEM. Findings: The findings of this study indicate that the thematic store atmosphere does not have a significant effect on impulse buying behavior. Meanwhile, positive emotion and impulse buying tendency were able to perfectly mediate the relationship between the thematic store atmosphere and impulse buying behavior. Practical Implications: A thematic cafe with an atmosphere designed according to the concept of a theme that is carried out very well can produce feelings of pleasure, excitement or comfort so that consumers feel like exploring or enjoying the atmosphere of the cafe so as to encourage unplanned purchases. Originality / Value: The thematic store atmosphere is based on the thematic cafe trend in the city of Malang. The researcher also tries to make this research more comprehensive by examining the relationship between an impulse buying tendency and positive emotion both of which are mediating variables.     Мета роботи: Промисловість харчових продуктів і напоїв є однією з провідних галузей, що підтримує зростання виробництва та національної економіки в Індонезії. Ефективність сектору харчової промисловості завжди зростає і з кожним роком розвивається в позитивному напрямку. Це дослідження дозволить виявити аспекти, які можуть вплинути на поведінку споживачів, які здійснюють покупки в тематичних кафе Малангу. Це дослідження використовує тематичну атмосферу кафе як незалежну змінну та імпульсивну поведінку відносно купівлі як залежну змінну. При цьому позитивні емоції та імпульсивна тенденція придбання товару сприймаються як опосередковані змінні. Дизайн / Метод / Підхід дослідження: Це дослідження базується на кількісних підходах та пояснювальних дослідженнях. Респонденти в цьому дослідженні - споживачі, які відвідали тематичні кафе в місті Маланг, і для визначення кількості зразків була використана цілеспрямована методика вибірки із загальної вибірки 200 респондентів. Метод збору даних використовувався за допомогою анкети, а самі дані були проаналізовані за допомогою аналізу PLS-SEM. Результати дослідження: Результати цього дослідження свідчать про те, що тематична атмосфера кафе не має суттєвого впливу на поведінку імпульсивних покупок. Тим часом позитивні емоції та тенденція до імпульсивних покупок змогли ідеально опосередковати зв’язок між тематичною атмосферою кафе та імпульсивною поведінкою придбання товарів. Практична цінність дослідження: Тематичне кафе з атмосферою, розробленою відповідно до концепції теми, яка дуже добре впроваджена, може викликати відчуття задоволення, хвилювання або комфорту, щоб споживачі відчували бажання досліджувати або насолоджуватися атмосферою кафе, що, в свую чергу, спонукає до незапланованих покупок. Оригінальність / Цінність дослідження: Тематична атмосфера кафе заснована на тренді тематичного кафе в місті Маланг.     Introduction. Leiomyosarcomas (LMS) originate from smooth muscle cells. They are very rare malignant neoplasms. Bony Leiomyosarcoma is a variant of spindle cell sarcoma, primarily affecting long bones, predominantly the distal femur and the proximal tibia followed by craniofacial skeleton. Aim. To describe clinical presentation and diagnostic approach of primary leiomyosarcoma of bones in two different patients. Description of the cases. Case 1. A 64-year-old male with a fracture of left distal femur after a fall was investigated and found to have a pathological fracture. An open biopsy of the fracture site confirms leiomyosarcoma. Case 2. A 58-year-old previously healthy female presented with a swelling on right side mandibular region. Orthopantomogram radiograph (OPG) of mandible and Cone beam CT (CBCT) mandible was taken initially and revealed a large area of bone destruction of the right side of the mandible associated with a soft tissue mass. Initial incisional biopsy made the diagnosis of spindle cell sarcoma followed by excisional biopsy, which confirms the diagnosis of moderately differentiated leiomyosarcoma. Conclusion. Primary leiomyosarcoma of bones is very rare. Imaging features are helpful in the evaluation of such conditions, but final diagnosis should be based on histopathologic and immunohistochemical features.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest interpretacja postaci starszej kobiety ukazanej na japońskich przedstawieniach parinirwany przy stopach Buddy (ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wersji z Myōhō-ji oraz jej kontynuacji). Jak wykazał przegląd chińskich przekładów sutr, za potencjalne źródło inspiracji posłużyło tu piśmiennictwo hinajany, z którego japońska tradycja buddyjska przejęła przekonanie o kalających właściwościach kobiecego dotyku. Następnie, w poszukiwaniu odpowiedzi na pytanie, jakie treści wnosi obecność staruszki na graficznych przedstawieniach parinirwany, posłużono się wybraną literaturą buddyjską podejmującą ten motyw. W toku analizy wykazano, że jej rola polegała na sprowokowaniu dyskusji pomiędzy Mahākāśyapą a Ānandą o miejscu kobiet w gronie uczniów Buddy – świeckich, na przykładzie jej samej, oraz duchownych, na przykładzie pierwszej mniszki Gautami.
    This study delves into the portrayal of the female figure depicted at the feet of the Buddha in Japanese parinirvana images, with a specific focus on the Myōhō-ji rendition and its subsequent resumptions. Through an examination of Chinese translations of pertinent sutras, the research explores the potential influence of hinayana texts as a source for this motif, which conveys the notion that impurity can be transmitted through a woman’s touch. To elucidate a more profound comprehension of the significance attributed to the presence of an elderly woman in visual depictions of parinirvana, an array of literary sources were scrutinized. The findings indicate that her inclusion likely served as a catalyst for a discourse between Mahākāśyapa and Ānanda concerning the position of women within the Buddha’s assembly of disciples, encompassing their roles as lay devotees, epitomized by the elderly woman, and as ordained nuns, symbolized by Gautami.

    Opis:
    The purpose of this paper is to show the criterion of the choice of a correct logic. According to Vaidya such the criterion may be formulated only on the foundation of a philosophy of logic. The main elements of the laws of logic are logical constants. In fact logic is not the theory of variables, but the theory of logical constants. So, the goal of a correct logical system is to analyse in a proper way what logical constants are.

    Opis:
    In this study, free and forced vibration responses of carbon nanotube reinforced uniform and tapered composite beams are investigated. The governing differential equations of motion of a carbon nanotube (CNT) reinforced uniform and tapered composite beams are presented in finite element formulation. The validity of the developed formulation is demonstrated by comparing the natural frequencies evaluated using present FEM with those of available in literature. Various parametric studies are also performed to investigate the effect of aspect ratio, percentage of CNT content, ply orientation, and boundary conditions on natural frequencies and mode shapes of a CNT reinforced composite beam. It was observed that the addition of carbon nanotube in fiber reinforced polymer composite (FRP) beam enhances the stiffness of the structure which consequently increases the natural frequencies and alters the mode shapes.
