We study superconducting properties of the Penson-Kolb model, i.e. the tight-binding model with the pair-hopping (intersite charge exchange) interaction J. The evolution of the critical fields, the coherence length, the Ginzburg ratio, and the London penetration depth with particle concentration n and pairing strength are determined. The results are compared with those found earlier for the attractive Hubbard model.

The Penson-Kolb-Hubbard model, i.e. the Hubbard model with the pair-hopping interaction J is studied. We focus on the properties of the superconducting state with the Cooper-pair center-of-mass momentum q= Q (η-phase). The transition into theη-phase, which is favorized by the repulsive J (J<0) is found to occur only above some critical value |J$\text{}_{c}$|, dependent on band filling, on-site interaction U and band structure, and the system never exhibits standard BCS-like features. This is in obvious contrast with the properties of the isotropic s-wave state, stabilized by the attractive J and attractive U, which exhibit at T=0 a smooth crossover from the BCS-like limit to that of tightly bound pairs with increasing pairing strength.

We study the superconducting properties of a model of coexisting itinerant carriers and local pairs with finite binding energy, taking into account the effects of Coulomb (density-density) and direct pair hopping interactions. The evolution of the phase diagrams and superfluid characteristics with electron concentration, interaction parameters and the relative position of the bands is examined. The model is found to exhibit several kinds of superconducting behaviors ranging from the BCS-like to the local-pair-like. The relevance of the obtained results to the interpretation of experimental data for the doped bismuthates (Ba$\text{}_{1-x}$K$\text{}_{x}$BiO$\text{}_{3}$ and BaPb$\text{}_{1-x}$BiO$\text{}_{3}$) is pointed out.

Two-dimensional (d=2) Penson-Kolb model, i.e. the tight-binding model with the pair-hopping (intersite charge exchange) interaction, is considered and the effects of phase fluctuations on the s-wave superconductivity of this system are discussed within the Kosterlitz-Thouless scenario. The London penetration depth λ at T=0, the Kosterlitz-Thouless critical temperature T$\text{}_{c}$, and the Hartree-Fock approximation critical temperature T$\text{}_{p}$ are determined as a function of particle concentration and interaction. The Uemura type plots (T$\text{}_{c}$ vs.λ$\text{}^{-2}$(0)) are derived. Beyond weak coupling and for low concentrations they show the existence of universal scaling: T$\text{}_{c}$ ~1/λ$\text{}^{2}$(0), as it was previously found for the attractive Hubbard model and for the models with intersite electron pairing.

In intra-enterprise logistics and automation of manufacturing processes general a rising productivity by high flexibility is required. Existing transportation systems exclusively use two-dimensional track sections, because they can be served with standard drives. Because of these simple structures the transport speed is limited and thereby also the throughput. In this paper now a modular transportation system is presented which could reach higher speeds with a direct drive and the use of centrifugal force compensating curves. Simultaneously the system also can change the altitude. All this succeeds with the integration of three-dimensional track sections. Therefore a two piped guiding system with a long stator linear motor was designed. To combine the linear motor with the three dimensional track special stator elements were developed which allow a bending of the stator to follow the route course. The current work deals with the implementation of a mechanical passive switch, which is operated by the electromagnetic forces of the linear motor. So no additional mechanical actors or a separate electromagnetic system are necessary.

The electron orderings of the half-filled extended Hubbard models (i) with anisotropic spin-exchange interactions (the t-U-J$\text{}_{ǁ}$-J$\text{}_{⊥}$ model) and (ii) with charge-exchange interaction (the t-U-I model) are discussed. In particular, we present new results concerning the phase diagrams of the model (i) in the case of uniaxial spin exchange (J$\text{}_{ǁ}$≢0) for d-dimensional hypercubic lattices (1≤d≤∞) and conclude about the basic effects of the particular spin- and charge-exchange interaction terms (J$\text{}_{ǁ}$, J$\text{}_{⊥}$, and I) in both models.

Opis:
Human activities such as logging, land conservation, road construction and other disturbances in watersheds will increase erosion rate and thus the amount of sediment transported into the river that reaches lakes, reservoirs and sea. Accelerated sedimentation rate in the reservoir can signifi cantly reduce a reservoir’s surface area, eliminating wetland area surrounding the reservoir and shallow the areas near the shore of the reservoir. A study of sedimentation rate in the Timah Tasoh water reservoir was carried out from May 2001 to April 2002 by means of sediment traps. The aim of this study is to determine the spatial and temporal pattern of sedimentation rates in the reservoir. The sediment traps were installed at five different locations in the reservoir and replaced every month. Gross sedimentation rates measured in the sediment traps vary from about an average of 1.4 kg/m2/month or 16.3 kg/m2/yr in the deepest part of the reservoir to about 79.2 kg/m2/yr (monthly average of 6.6 kg/m2/month) and 47.1 kg/m2/yr (monthly average of 3.9 kg/m2/month) near the inlet of the Pelarit River and the Tasoh River respectively. The sedimentation rate near the Pelarit River and the Tasoh River inflow is correlated with the water and suspended sediment discharge in the river, owing to its proximity to the rivers and the fl ooding effect, mainly during the wet season. The sedimentation rate decreases southward along the reservoir, as a result of increasing distance from the river mouth. The total suspended sediment load of the Upper Pelarit River and the Jarum River flowing into the reservoir is 11.4 × 103 ton/year and 5.41 × 103 ton/ /year respectively.
Na podstawie szczegółowych łapaczkowych pomiarów terenowych przedstawiono zmiany przestrzenne i czasowe (2001–2002) ilości sedymentu w zbiorniku wodnym Timah Tasoh w Malezji. Łapaczki umieszczone w pięciu punktach zbiornika opróżniano co 5 miesięcy. Zmiany ilości sedymentu wykazano liczbowo na tle ilości dostarczanego rumowiska do zbiornika z rzek Pelarit oraz Jarum.

This paper reports a system based on the recently proposed evolutionary paradigm of gene expression programming (GEP). This enhanced system, called EGIPSYS, has features specially suited to deal with symbolic regression problems. Amongst the new features implemented in EGIPSYS are: new selection methods, chromosomes of variable length, a new approach to manipulating constants, new genetic operators and an adaptable fitness function. All the proposed improvements were tested separately, and proved to be advantageous over the basic GEP. EGIPSYS was also applied to four difficult identification problems and its performance was compared with a traditional implementation of genetic programming (LilGP). Overall, EGIPSYS was able to obtain consistently better results than the system using genetic programming, finding less complex solutions with less computational effort. The success obtained suggests the adaptation and extension of the system to other classes of problems.
