The paper presents the causes of research on the use of expanders in refrigeration systems. The possible types of expander are introduced. The turbine expander was selected for the comparative analysis. The results of theoretical and experimental work on cooling cycles with carbon dioxide as refrigerant in the supercritical and subcritical systems equipped with turbine decompressors were presented. It has been proven that the use of expanders has enabled energy savings in the level of 25%.

We reach beyond the celebrated theorems of Erdös-Ko-Rado and Hilton-Milner, and a recent theorem of Han-Kohayakawa, and determine all maximal intersecting triples systems. It turns out that for each n ≥ 7 there are exactly 15 pairwise non-isomorphic such systems (and 13 for n = 6). We present our result in terms of a hierarchy of Turan numbers [formula], s ≥ 1, where [formula] is a pair of disjoint triples. Moreover, owing to our unified approach, we provide short proofs of the above mentioned results (for triple systems only). The triangle C3 is defined as C3 = {{x1,y3,x2}, {x1,y2,x3}, {x2, y1,x3}}. Along the way we show that the largest intersecting triple system H on n ≥ 6 vertices, which is not a star and is triangle-free, consists of max{10, n} triples. This facilitates our main proof's philosophy which is to assume that H contains a copy of the triangle and analyze how the remaining edges of H intersect that copy.

Given a graph H and an integer r ≥ 2, let G → (H,r) denote the Ramsey property of a graph G, that is, every r-coloring of the edges of G results in a monochromatic copy of H. Further, let $m(G) = max_{F ⊆ G}|E(F)|/|V(F)|$ and define the Ramsey density $m_{inf}(H,r)$ as the infimum of m(G) over all graphs G such that G → (H,r). In the first part of this paper we show that when H is a complete graph Kₖ on k vertices, then $m_{inf}(H,r) = (R-1)/2$, where R = R(k;r) is the classical Ramsey number. As a corollary we derive a new proof of the result credited to Chvatál that the size Ramsey number for Kₖ equals $\binom{R} {2}$. We also study an on-line version of the size Ramsey number, related to the following two-person game: Painter colors on-line the edges provided by Builder, and Painter's goal is to avoid a monochromatic copy of Kₖ. The on-line Ramsey number R̅(k;r) is the smallest number of moves (edges) in which Builder can force Painter to lose if r colors are available. We show that R̅(3;2) = 8 and $R̅(k;2) ≤ 2k\binom{2k-2} {k-1}$, but leave unanswered the question if R̅(k;2) = o(R²(k;2)).

In order to determine the number of inhabitants of the city of Rome in the imperial period, scholars have used four methods. The first one takes into account the amount of grain distributed each day to the population, the second one the quantity of grain imported to Rome every year, the third one the number of houses and insulae, the fourth one, less useful for the period discussed in this article, the amount of pork distributed to the inhabitants. It seems certain that at that time Rome could have had a million inhabitants, crowded in an unbearably small space. This number began to diminish in the 4th century A.D.

In the literature of the antiquity we can distinguish three patterns: the minimalist, universalistic and constrained. The first confines prefecture to being merely the command of praetorian cohorts, while other possible functions performed by these officers result only from exceptional and temporary mandate of the emperor. On the other hand, the universalistic model assumes that a prefect, at least potentially, possesses the same powers as the emperor - to be limited only by the presence and the will of the ruler. The third model, presented by Cassius Dio, is an intermediate form - a compromise, which perhaps is fashioned after the practice employed in certain periods, yet in part it was rather a postulate than reality.

The most significant novum in the history of the senatorial order during the reign of the Flavian dynasty was an unprecedented promotion of homines novi who originated from the equestrian order and municipal elites. The process was forced on one hand by the losses which the senatorial order had suffered under Nero’s reign during the struggle for power in the years 68–70, and on the other hand by the necessity to pay political debts to the people who supported the Flavians’ caesarian aspirations during the civil war. Thanks to these promotions the Caesars bought the support of political elites they themselves created. In the process, the details of which are impossible to follow, citizens of some provinces, especially Spain, Gaul, and later the eastern provinces, acquired the appreciation of the Caesars. Despite the presence of new members, the Italian citizens maintained their dominant position in the Senate. Vespasian did not enable the newly elected senators to advance quickly. In this way he maintained a balance between the old aristocracy and the new elites.
Najważniejszym novum w dziejach stanu senatorskiego za panowania Flawiuszy była bezprecedensowa akcja promowania homines novi wywodzących się z grona stanu ekwickiego i członków elit municypalnych. Proceder ten był wymuszony z jednej strony stratami, które stan senatorski poniósł za panowania Nerona i w czasie walki o władzę w latach 68–70, ale także przez konieczność spłaty politycznych długów wobec tych, którzy poparli cesarskie aspiracje Flawiuszy w czasie wojny domowej. Jednocześnie cesarze z nowej rodziny kupowali w ten sposób poparcie, kreując znaczną część politycznej elity. W procesie tym, którego szczegółów nie jesteśmy w stanie prześledzić, docenieni zostali mieszkańcy prowincji, zwłaszcza Hiszpanii i Galii, a w dalszym rzędzie także prowincji wschodnich. Nadal jednak w senacie swą dominującą pozycję utrzymali mieszkańcy Italii. Wespazjan nie tylko uzupełnił skład elit senatorskich, ale w znacznej mierze zastąpił je nowo promowanymi ludźmi, którzy związali swoją fortunę z nowym domem panującym. Nie zapewniał jednak możliwości zrobienia szybkiej kariery świeżo powołanym senatorom, zachowując w ten sposób balans pomiędzy dawną arystokracją a nową elitą.

Land surface temperature (LST) plays an important role in many land-surface processes on regional as well on global scales. It is also a good indicator of energy flux phenomena and is used as a parameter in various Earth observation related studies. However, LST estimation based on processing and utilisation of satellite derived data constitutes several problems in terms of time limitations, accessibility, atmospheric influence etc. The aim of the study was to verify and compare the algorithms especially in the context of minimalisation of errors in LST estimation by satellite observation using various means of GIS data processing and integration. Also, the indirect verification of the LST estimation methods, based on the utilisation of statistics and dependencies of LST, NDVI and air temperature values has been presented and discussed. The presented work has the form of a case study, and due to limited amount of verification data used in the current stage of the investigation, the results should be treated as preliminary. The developed GIS solution for integrating spatial data from many sources needed in the course of this study is also presented.

The poetry of Lal Ded (c. 1300–1370), who was known as Lalleshvari or Lalla Arifa, has not yet received much attention outside Kashmir. This is in spite of the fact that Lal Ded played a crucial role in the emergence of the modern Kashmiri language. As the first poet of Kashmiri literature, she created a style called vakh which until today is one of the classical forms of poetical expression of the Kashmiris. This article is intended as a survey of the published and unpublished written sources and the living oral transmission of Lal Ded’s vakhs. It also presents the characteristic features of her teachings with the intention to examine to which mystical traditions of India she is related. Finally, her proximity to siddhas and nathas, who played an important role in the emergence of vernacular languages of Northern India, is indicated.

The paper shows changes occurring during freezing, storage and thawing of food products. In particular, it refers to weight loss associated with moisture loss. The influence of the chosen freezing method and the type of packaging (or lack thereof) on the amount of water lost in the product is shown. Characteristics of the rate of moisture loss depending on the conditions of storage of products in cold storage chambers are described. The methods of preventing greater loss of moisture in stored products are indicated. The article also contains a short description of the product thawing methods and methods of preventing excessive moisture loss.

The article is a proposition of a new approach to building a neural model based on the system of Day-Ahead Market operating at TGE S.A. The reason for the proposed method is an attempt to find a better model for the DAM system. The proposed methodology is based on using mathematical models used in quantum computing. All calculations performed on learning the Artificial Neuron Network are based on operations described in Hilbert space. The main idea of calculations is to replace the data from the decimal system into the quantum state in Hilbert space and perform learning operations for a neural model of the DAM system in a special manner which relay on the teaching model for each position of the quantum register for all data. The obtained results were compared to the “classical” neural model with the use of a comparative model.

W pracy przedstawiono ogólną charakterystykę zużycia energii w branży hotelowej na świecie i w Europie. Podano projektowe i rzeczywiste wielkości zużycia energii służące do pokrycia zapotrzebowania na chłód w wybranych hotelach. Wskazano technologie i procedury postępowania potrzebne do obniżenia wykorzystywania energii ze źródeł nieodnawialnych. Następnie przedstawiono rozważane obecnie perspektywiczne technologie chłodnicze do zastosowania w następnych 10 – 20 latach. W pracy podkreślono potrzebę ograniczenia energochłonności instalacji chłodniczych i klimatyzacyjnych ze względu na ochronę środowiska i czystość atmosfery. Bezpośrednio determinuje to dalszy rozwój branży hotelarskiej w postaci nowoczesnych i nowatorskich rozwiązań.
The paper presents the general characteristics of energy consumption in the hotel industry all over the world and in Europe. The design and actual energy consumption needed for cold production in selected hotels is presented. Technologies and procedures necessary to reduce the use of fossil fuels are indicated. Then, the future cooling technologies currently under consideration are presented for use in the next 10 -20 years. The work underlined the need to reduce the energy consumption of refrigeration and air-conditioning installations due to environmental protection and the purity of the atmosphere. This directly determines the further development of the hotel industry in the form of modern and innovative solutions.

In article some results of using system evolving algorithm SAE for search a new state of development of electric power transmission network Is presented. Electric power transmission network Is simulated as a operator of transmission system (polish: Operator Systemu Przesyłowego: OSP). It is received by them existing distributed beginning popu¬lation and existing fitness function which takes advantage of systems divergence. Identification of electric power transmission system (ESP) which Is understudied as technology system and which Is management by OSP is carried out using System Identification Toolbox. In result Is obtained model of system in characteristic form such as th, tf, zpk, ss, ABCD. Next on the base model of OSP in transmission form Is generated beginning population, which Is using as chromosome population. After them SAE algorithm Is generated new population, by them SAE Is implemented in Matlab language. Results which Is obtained In this process was Interpreted using function from for example Control System Toolbox.

Opis:
Interleukin 1 (IL-1) and interleukin 6 (IL-6) are typical examples of multfunctonal pro-infammatory cytokines involved in the regulaton of the immune response, hematopoiesis, and infammaton. Both peripheral and intraventricular administraton of these cytokines causes acute phase symptoms, e.g. fever, actvaton of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and psychological depression. The amygdala belongs to the structures of the limbic system involved in the regulaton of the immune response. Increased actvity of immune system may lead to changes in the role of amygdala, medial prefrontal cortex, anterior cingulate cortex or insula. The aim of the study was to present the mutual interactons between the amygdala and pro-infammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1β (IL-1 beta) and interleukin 6 (IL-6). Most of the data included in this review comes from animal studies.

Opis:
This paper provides some information about thermoelectric technology. Some new materials with improved figures of merit are presented. These materials in Peltier modules make it possible to generate electric current thanks to a temperature difference. The paper indicates possible applications of thermoelectric modules as interesting tools for using various waste heat sources. Some zero-dimensional equations describing the conditions of electric power generation are given. Also, operating parameters of Peltier modules, such as voltage and electric current, are analyzed. The paper shows chosen characteristics of power generation parameters. Then, an experimental stand for ongoing research and experimental measurements are described. The authors consider the resistance of a receiver placed in the electric circuit with thermoelectric elements. Finally, both the analysis of experimental results and conclusions drawn from theoretical findings are presented. Voltage generation of about 1.5 to 2.5 V for the temperature difference from 65 to 85 K was observed when a bismuth telluride thermoelectric couple (traditionally used in cooling technology) was used.

W pracy scharakteryzowano różne procesy suszenia. Zwrócono szczególną uwagę na proces fluidyzacyjnego suszenia zboża. Przedstawiono schemat stanowiska eksperymentalnego służącego do prowadzenia badania szybkości suszenia materiału wilgotnego. Zamieszczono wyniki pomiarów, a następnie wykonano krzywą suszenia za pomocą dostępnych w literaturze metod obliczeniowych opartych głównie o badania eksperymentalne. Stwierdzono potrzebę adaptacji dostępnych metod do suszenia ziarn pszenicy za pomocą prostej metody regresji. Ostatecznie przedstawiono model pół-empiryczny krzywej suszenia dostosowany do opisywanego procesu suszenia. We wnioskach podkreślono potrzebę dalszych prac nad opracowaniem dobrych modeli obliczeniowych krzywej suszenia.
This paper deals with different ways of drying in general. The fluidized bed drying is underlined. The experimental stand is described, where the drying process is examined. The moisture content of wheat seeds versus drying time is presented. A few of calculation models were analized and regresive model is introduced to one of them. Then semi-empirical calculation model is presented, moisture content versus drying time curve is done which is devoted especially to drying of wheat seeds. The need of further work on specific fluidized drying bed process is underlined.

Middle Triassic (Muschelkalk) limestones and dolostones of southern Poland contain vertebrate remains, which can be used for palaeoecological and palaeogeographical analyses. The results presented concern vertebrate remains uncovered at four localities in Upper Silesia and one on Opole Silesia, a region representing the south-eastern margin of the Germanic Basin in Middle Triassic times. The most abundant remains in this assemblage are fish remains, comprising mostly actinopterygian teeth and scales. Chondrichthyan and sauropsid remains are less common. Reptilian finds include vertebrae, teeth and fragments of long bones, belonging to aquatic or semi-aquatic reptiles, such as nothosaurids, pachypleusorosaurids, and ichthyosaurids. Also, coprolites of possibly durophagous and predacious reptiles occur. In the stratigraphic column of Mikołów, actinopterygian remains are the most numerous and no distinct changes of the taxonomic composition occur. Although this assemblage differs from those described at other localities (Ząbkowice with numerous chondrichthyans, Żyglin, and Płaza with common sauropsid fossils), sampling bias has to be considered.

High consumption of energy in HVACR industry need to be reduced according to intense fossil fuels usage. It is dangerous for our climate and then for our health and life quality of next generations. The main aim of the study is to compare two cooling systems with the same cooling capacity but with different working refrigerant. One of them is R404A (fluorinated gas) and another is R744 (carbon dioxide). The question is, which of the systems uses lower amount of energy and which of them has lower LCC. The ‘carbon path’ – CO2 emmision is considered too. In the paper the configuration of the systems were established. The cycle with R404A is straight one stage compressor refrigeration system compare to supercritical compression refrigeration system with R744. The calculation process was done in Pack Calculation Pro software. It gives some databases with climate data which helps to find exploitation energy usage and energy cost with ‘carbon path’ calculations. For a system based on the use of R744 refrigerant, electricity consumption is lower than when using R404A refrigerant. Particularly large savings are generated in winter. Annual savings can be estimated at 28%. This is due to the difference in average annual EER of 1.15. Then, calculation introduced that total emission for the system with R404A is nearly 32% higher than in case of R744 supercritical compression system. The comparison done in this paper shows that supercritical compression systems with R744 is good alternative technology for those with fluorinated gases. However, some technical problems should be improved to make this technology much more efficient, cheaper and safe.

ANN was learned and tested using of the next day market data. Generated neural model was used for simulation tests and susceptibility tests. Suitable model was implemented in Simulink. As a result of simulation tests and susceptibility testing a lot of interesting research results were obtained.

Opis:
The paper treats with refrigerants which affect on excessive heating of atmosphere. They are in group offluorinated greenhouse gases which are regulated by European and polish law. The main aim is to lower their amount in industry leading to overall removal from use. We present possible way to design refrigeration system lowering their adverse effect on natural environment. So three options of cooling systems are analyzed: one-stage refrigeration system working with R449A, cascade refrigeration system with R744 (carbon dioxide)/ R134a and R717 (ammonia) refrigeration plant. Due to the nowadays raising use of the cascade systems, an analysis of the operating parameters of such installation was carried out with considering the cascade heat exchanger as a condenser/evaporator. The installations concerned are three alternative offers for meat processing manufactory. A thermal balance was prepared for chambers located in building and the operating parameters of the installation were assumed. The equipment corresponding to the required cooling capacities were selected.

Fossil vertebrate remains from the Keuper unit in the vicinity of the village of Krasiejów have been analyzed for almost two decades. However, the main goal of these works was focused mainly on large vertebrates. Here the authors present the first description of microvertebrate fossils from that site. The collection of around 5,000 specimens is mainly comprised of teeth and scales. The most numerous remains belong to osteichthyans: dipnoans (Ptychoceratodus and cf. Arganodus), palaeoniscids, semionotids, redfieldiids and chondrichthyans, such as Lonchidion sp., which is the first indisputable record of that genus in the Upper Triassic of Poland and the first shark at the Krasiejów locality. Tetrapod fossils consist of temnospondyl amphibians, rhynchocephalian lepidosauromorphs and archosauromorphs. Among them, temnospondyl amphibian remains are the most numerous and are represented mostly by Metoposaurus. However, on the basis of diversity in tooth morphotypes, the occurrence of other taxa cannot be excluded. Rhynchocephalians are composed of 7 fragmentary jaw morphotypes with dentition, which could indicate high taxonomic diversity (cf. Planocephalosaurus, cf. Diphydontosaurus and cf. Clevosaurus). The most varied fossil group was assigned to the archosauromorphs. The authors can distinguish at least 19 teeth morphotypes, which show similarities to the dentition of: protorosaurians (cf. Tanystropheidae), pseudosuchians (cf. Protecovasaurus, cf. Revueltosaurus), early crocodylomorphs and basal sauropodomorph dinosaurs. The first occurrence of a theropod dinosaur and cynodonts at the Krasiejów locality is also recorded. However, their remains are very rare. These new records show a high taxonomic diversity at the Krasiejów locality that contributes to our deeper understanding of Late Triassic ecosystem of Poland.

The paper contains the results of research on the impact of the number of factors used to build the Day-Ahead Market model at Polish Power Exchange S.A. Five models with a different number of factors influencing the model were tested. To test the quality of models according to the adopted evaluation criteria, i.e., mean square error and the coefficient of determination for the weighted average prices sold in a given hour of the day, the influence of weather factors, socio-economic factors and energy demand were adopted. The results obtained from the analysis show a relatively high correctness of the simplest of the adopted models, which differs slightly from the best model.

The paper presents formulas which can be used to determine steam condensation pressure in a power plant condenser in off-design conditions. The mathematical model provided in the paper makes it possible to calculate the performance of the condenser in terms of condensing steam pressure, cooling water temperature at the condenser outlet, and condenser effectiveness under variable load conditions as a function of three input properties: the temperature and the mass flow rate of cooling water at the condenser inlet and the mass flow rate of steam. The mathematical model takes into account values of properties occurring in reference conditions but it contains no constant coefficients which would have to be established based on data from technical specifications of a condenser or measurement data. Since there are no such constant coefficients, the model of the steam condenser proposed in the paper is universally applicable. The proposed equations were checked against warranty measurements made in the condenser and measurement data gathered during the operation of a 200 MW steam power unit. Based on the analysis, a conclusion may be drawn that the proposed means of determining pressure in a condenser in off-design conditions reflects the condenser performance with sufficient accuracy. This model can be used in optimization and diagnostic analyses of the performance of a power generation unit.

The article is an attempt of the methodological approach to the proposed quantum-inspired method of neural modeling of prices quoted on the Day-Ahead Market operating at TGE S.A. In the proposed quantum-inspired neural model it was assumed, inter alia, that it is composed of 12 parallel Perceptron ANNs with one hidden layer. Moreover, it was assumed that weights and biases as processing elements are described by density matrices, and the values flowing through the Artificial Neural Network of Signals are represented by qubits. Calculations checking the correctness of the adopted method and model were carried out with the use of linear algebra and vector-matrix calculus in MATLAB and Simulink environments. The obtained research results were compared to the results obtained from the neural model with the use of a comparative model.

The paper presents the methodology of the analysis of the cooling system reconstruction in a food cold store under the regulations applicable from the beginning of 2020. They result from the so-called the F-Gas Act concerns the use of refrigerants with a low environmental impact. First, the elements of the existing regulations on the use of refrigerants were discussed. This part of article focus mainly on the F-Gas Act and the regulations it entails. Then, the refrigerants used so far in refrigeration systems were compared with substitutes, which were the only ones that have been approved for use since 2020, thanks to the low GWP index. Their properties are briefly described, along with the benefits (primarily for the environment) of their use. The main part of the work is the analysis of the reconstruction of the cooling system to use an alternative refrigerant. During the work, the construction of the cold storage was analyzed together with the system currently working in analysed location. Then, the heat balance was calculated, thanks to which it was possible to determine the demand for cold. Than, several refrigerants that meet the latest standards and application regulations were selected. Their operating parameters were examined, the possible variants of use were compared in relation to the determined demand for cooling and the most important operational features were summarized.

The main purpose of the research was to examine the properties of models for two kinds of neural networks, a deep learning models in which the Long Short-Term Memory was chosen and shallow neural model in which the Perceptron Neural Network was chosen. The subject of the examination was the Day-Ahead Market system of PPE S.A. The article presents the learning results of both networks and the results of the predictive abilities of the models. The research was conducted based on data published on the Polish Stock Exchange for the 2018 year. The MATLAB environment was chosen as a tool for providing the examinations. The determination index (R2) and the mean square error (MSE) was adopted as the network evaluation criterion for the learning ability and for the prediction ability of both networks.

Opis:
The work contains results of research on the possibility to improve the neural model of the Electric Power Exchange (polish: Towarowa Giełda Energii Elektrycznej – TGEE) in MATLAB and Simulink environment using evolutionary algorithm inspired by quantum computer science. The developed artificial neural network was trained using data for the Day Ahead Market, assuming the joint volume of supplied and sold electrical energy [MWh] as the input quantities in each hour of the 24-hour day, and average prices [PLN/MWh] as output quantities. The obtained model of the exchange system was improved using the evolutionary algorithm, and further improvement in the accuracy of the model by supplementing the evolutionary algorithm using quantum solutions, related to the initial population, crossover and mutation operators, selection, etc. were proposed.
