    $UNiAs_2$ band structure has been calculated based on two full-potential methods: full potential linearized augmented plane wave implemented in WIEN2k code and full-potential local-orbital minimum-basis in FPLO code. Starting from the local (spin) density approximation (L(S)DA) we verified either the orbital polarization correction or the LSDA+U approach with the Coulomb repulsion energies U of 0-4 eV for the uranium 5f electrons. Calculated magnetic moments confirm antiferromagnetic ground state and collinear magnetic sequence. The best agreement with experimental results has been achieved by applying orbital polarization corrections, the magnetic moment on uranium amounts to 1.76 $μ_{B}$ per U atom.

    Experimental data show that aluminium doped RCo$\text{}_{5}$ systems crystallize in CaCu$\text{}_{5}$-type structure for most of the rare-earth elements (R). Al impurities randomly occupy one of the two possible positions (2c and 3g) and there is a critical concentration of Al, x$\text{}_{c}$=2.0, for RCo$\text{}_{5-x}$Al$\text{}_{x}$ when the Co sublattice becomes nonmagnetic. The ab initio self-consistent calculations show strong dependence of magnetic properties of GdCo$\text{}_{5-x}$Al$\text{}_{x}$ on concentration of Al and position of the impurities in the unit cell, furthermore to fulfil experimental observation of existence of critical concentration, x$\text{}_{c}$=2.0, the Al impurities should prefer 3g positions otherwise the magnetic moments on Co atoms do not vanish.

    Opis:
    $U_5Ge_4$ crystallizes in a hexagonal $Ti_5Ga_4$ type structure with two inequivalent crystallographic sites occupied by uranium atoms. The band structure calculations were performed by the full-potential local-orbital minimum basis band structure code. The calculations showed that on both types of uranium atoms small magnetic moments are formed and their values are equal to 0.08 and 0.15 $μ_{B}$/atom, respectively.

    Opis:
    Due to uniwersity studies young people undergo the process of education, and this in turn changes their behaviours and attitudes. The above mentioned process concerns students of different faculties, also teacher’s faculties. And prospective teachers — having a great influential power — should play a very important role in teaching pro-health attitudes. An the same time it should be emphasized that the more health conscious teachers are, the more effective education will be. Teaching children by exposing them to positive examples should be a basic mechanism in this respect. The question arises whether students — prospective teachers — will be able to set up appropiate examples to follow. The answer to this question seems to be of paramount importance, especially when we take into consideration the fact that health state of Polish citizens is rather poor. Hence the purpose of my research is to assess pro-health attitudes among the students of the University of Zielona Góra.

    $Ce_5CuPb_3$ band structure has been calculated based on two ab initio methods: full potential-linearized augmented plane wave implemented in WIEN2k code and full-potential local-orbital minimum-basis in FPLO code. The calculations were performed with and without spin polarization. Starting from the generalized gradient approximation we additionally tested either an orbital polarization correction and the GGA+U approach with the Coulomb repulsion energies U varied from 0 to 6.7 eV within the Ce 4f electron shell. The calculations confirmed possible antiparallel alignment of the magnetic moments of the cerium atoms in the low temperature phase.

    Opis:
    Trying to evaluate contemporary messages from the media one can notice – in reference to the value of health - the comparison of positivist traditions and idealistic visions with contradictory standpoints and opinions. It is important to recognize and understand messages of consumer and pop cultures which reflect the pursuit of the world of illusions and dreams. In this world medical and scientific debates frequently blend with popular convictions and myths. It seems that individual and subjective concepts referring to health as a value are becoming decisive categories in designing the concept of freedom. Health, then, is a factor that enters “cultural flexibility” as an element of cultural pressure, connected with concrete physical and psychological results.

    Artykuł ogniskuje się wokół zagadnień badań antropologicznych Bronisława Malinowskiego i ogólnego celu antropologii jako nauki, zestawiając je z problemem upraszczania idei antropologicznych przez media popularne oraz ich głównych odbiorców (widzów i czytelników). W pracy omawiany jest problem turystyki pod kątem głównych powodów, dla których ludzie podróżują w miejsca nieznane, a także kryzys w mediach popularnych (programach turystycznych, czasopismach popularnonaukowych oraz w literaturze podróżniczej). Współcześnie postulaty Malinowskiego, by zrozumieć inną kulturę, sprowadzane bywają do ekspozycji jaskrawych różnic przy równoczesnym zaprezentowaniu ich w formie stylizowanej na fachowy dyskurs naukowy. Według autorki owo przesunięcie znaczenia powoduje skupienie się przez odbiorców na powierzchownym, tanim orientalizmie i egzotyce. Dzieje się tak, ponieważ wielu współczesnych podróżników i odbiorców mediów realizuje schemat Baumanowskiego „ponowoczesnego turysty”, który w czasie podróży poszukuje z góry określonych, wręcz stereotypowych zjawisk i nie wiąże ich z intensywnym poznaniem nowej kultury oraz jej członków. Zagadnienia te prowadzą do pytania: czy główne cele antropologii są wciąż aktualne?
    The article is focusing upon anthropological research of Bronislaw Malinowski and the general purpose of anthropology as a science, in comparison to the problem of reducing anthropological theories by the media and their main public (audience and readership). The paper focuses upon the main purposes behind travelling to the unknown places, and a crisis in the media (travel programs, popular science magazines and travel literature). Nowadays, Malinowski’s postulate of an in-depth insight into a culture has been brought to the maximal exposition of most vivid differences and simultaneously presenting it stylised on proper scientific discourse. Thus, the author concludes, that this transfer of senses causes the recipients focusing on the shallow, superficial orientalism and expected exotics. It happens, because many nowadays travellers carries out Bauman’s conception of the “postmodernist tourist”, who seeks certain, stereotypical, phenomenon during their journey and does not connect them with an intense experiencing the culture and its members. Those questions lead to an attempt of defining if the main criteria of anthropology are still up-to-date.
