Aby Warburg’s Bilderatlas Mnemosyne (1924–1929) – enigmatically defined by its author  as “a ghost story for truly adult people” – was an archive of approximately one thousand photographs  presented  on forty black canvases, presenting mainly motifs of Western culture, which guided that scholar’s research over the years. Quite clearly, however, Bilderatlas was something more than a simple collection of images. Mnemosyne, like other Warburg’s works, especially his Kulturwissenschaftliche Bibliothek  in Hamburg, may appear  to us as a mnemonic system created  for private use – one similar to mnemotechnical theaters projected  in the sixteenth  century  by Giordano Bruno  and Giulio  Camillo.  This dynamic topographic structure may be related  to the  category of Zwischenraum  (interval),  which Warburg  used in his project  of “nameless science”. One may read here about an “iconology of intervals” as a “psychology of oscillation between  the position  of images and signs”. Warburg  clearly presents  here  an idea of inter-media basis for his cultural-historical practice. In Mnemosyne, photographic reproduction was not  merely  illustrative  but  offered  a general  medium  to which all the  figures  (different types of objects  such as paintings,  reliefs  and  drawings)  were reduced  before being arranged on black panel canvases. For this reason some scholars, among them Benjamin Buchloh, drew a parallel between Mnemosyne and the development of photomontage  and photo-archive practices in the 1920s. But it is probably  the  cinema,  as posited  by Philippe  -Alaine  Michaud,  that  may seem  today as a medium most deeply resonating with Warburg’s project. When Warburg  was developing Mnemosyne, he probably discovered  his own “concept  of montage”,  which was capable of transforming hieroglyphs and static figures into live motion and action. In Jean-Luc Godard’s Historie(s) du cinema (1988–1998) one may find a parallel example of how filmic medium  can  explore  its own past  through  a juxtaposition  of images, montage of collisions and analogies. Video serves here the same purpose as photography in the Bilderatlas Mnemosyne. In montage appropriation and re-appropriation of images and  worlds, Godard  developed  an  unique  project  of the  cartography  of history and memory. However, while the past is metamorphosed here in the present – all the images begin to signify also cinema’s death.  For  Godard  the  mnemotechnic  art  of quotation refers, most of all, to the temporal depth and the death of the cinemamatography,  which is called by the name Auschwitz.

Our own body, both as a physical object (Körper) and as a focus experiencing sensations (Leib) is usually the axis of our self-identification. In this the mode of presentation of one's own body, in correlation of its accessibility "from the outside" and "from the inside", in which I receive my own body as one and the same, however, one cannot find an answer to the question about how can the bodily (corporal) identification be constituted, which does not have a uniaxial character as it is, e.g. in case of the painterly perception of trompe-l'oeil or during the film showing. Projection of one's own body, as is suggested by phenomenological studies of Edith Stein and Leopold Blaustein, may consist in suspending the direct relation to Körper when the basis of identification is merely Leib, which we experience in dislocation, in an unclear connection with the border of the field of imagined space. An important feature of this situation is that during projection of the spectator's body into the field of an image to suspension is submitted not only the feeling of the body as a physical datum, but also space which remains as its real surrounding. The problems touched upon here can be considered as prolegomena to the phenomenology of a spectator-in-aspectacle.

Die Breslauer Sprechbühnen wiesen in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus Tendenzen auf, die für das gesamte Theaterleben Deutschlands charakteristisch waren. Die politische Instrumentalisierung der dramatischen Kunst, wie des ganzen literarischen Lebens, resultierte aus dem zentralen, von dem Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda postulierten Programm, das den Theatern außcrästhetische Propaganda- und F.rziehungsaufgabcn zuschrieb. Die Hauptfrage - nach der Spielplangestaltung - traf auch für die wichtigsten Verfasser der damaligen Literatur zu, zu denen sicher der eng mit der schlesischen Provinz verbundene Gerhart Hauptmann gehörte. Seine Stellung nach dem Jahre 1933 war keineswegs eideutig und sie bestätigte nur die komplizierten Verhältnisse zwischen ihm und dem Regime, das aus Propagandagründen sein Schaffen selektiv akzeptierte. In den ersten Jahren nach der Machtergreifung spielten deutsche Theater nur wenige Stückre Hauptmanns, in Breslau sogar keine. Erst 1935 brachte das Lobetheater die Aufführung der Komödie Der Biberpelz. Zwei Jahre später (anläßlich Hauptmanns 75. Geburtstages) spielte man im Breslauer Schauspielhaus, das seit 1936 die einzige Sprechbühne war, das Drama Michael Kramer. In Anwesenheit des Dichters fand hier auch die Uraufführung des Filmes Der Biberpelz statt. 1938 gastierte mit einem eigenen Ensemble der Staatsschauspieler Paul Wegener mit der Inszenierung von Kollege Crampton in Breslau. Erst zwei Jahre später (Jan. 1940) nahm das Theater in Breslau Hauptmanns Werk wieder in das Repertoire auf. Die Aufführung des Schauspiels Elga, dessen Motive aus Grillparzers Drama entnommen wurden, verursachte heftige Proteste mancher Regime-Ideologen (einschließlich Alfred Rosenbergs) wegen der polnischen Thematik des Dramas. Im Jahre 1941 inszenierte das Breslauer Schauspielhaus das Stück Der Bogen des Odysseus (die erste Aufführung war am Osternsonntag), im März 1942 die Tragödie Rose Bernd. Eine besondere Bedeutung kommt dem 80. Jubiläum des Dichters (Nov. 1942) zu. Die zentralen Feierlichkeiten dazu wurden von der Theaterabteilung des Goebbelschen Propagandaministeriums nach Breslau verlegt. Nach zahlreichen Kontroversen und Abstimmungen beschloß man im Schauspielhaus 4 Dramen zu spielen: Michael Kramer, Die Tochter der Kathedrale, Und Pippa tanzt und Der Biberpelz. Hauptmann verlieh man auch den Schliesischen Literaturpreis. Außerdem wurde er zum Ersten Ehrenbürger der Friedrich-Wilhelm-Universität ernannt. Das Deutsche Institut der Breslauer Universität veröffentlichte aus diesem Anlaß ein dem Jubilar gewidmetes Gedenkblatt, das verschiedene Aspekte seines Schaffens zum Thema hatte. Auch das Reichspropagandaamt Schlesien bereitete eine Broschüre vor, die das Interesse der Partei betonen sollte. Die Krönung des Jubiläums war die Gesamtausgabe von Hauptmanns Werken, deren erstes Exemplar dem Dichter überreicht wurde. Unter den zahlreichen Wünschen, die Gerhart Hauptmann zu seinem Geburtstage bekam, befanden sich auch Telegrammme von Hitler, Goebbels und Schlösser. Das letzte in Breslau inszenierte Drama Hauptmanns war Imphigenie in Delphi, dessen Erstaufführung am 5. Dez. 1943 im Schauspielhaus stattfand.

The paper presents the Complex of Buildings which was created in Gdańsk as a result of the reconstruction and development of the remains of the defensive fortifications of Redita Napoleońska. Some of the buildings of the Building Complex, after many years of operation, were in an emergency condition and required urgent renovation and repair work. The paper contains a detailed analysis of the technical condition of individual buildings of the Building Complex and analyzes the impact of the current use and the lack of regular periodic repairs on the technical efficiency of these facilities. Conceptual solutions in the field of renovation and repair works were also presented, the purpose of which was to bring the objects in question to the proper technical condition.
