Opis:
We show that, under some additional assumptions, all projection operators onto latticially closed subsets of the Orlicz-Musielak space generated by $\Phi$ are isotonic if and only if $\Phi$ is convex with respect to its second variable. A dual result of this type is also proven for antiprojections. This gives the positive answer to the problem presented in Opuscula Mathematica in 2012.

Opis:
In this paper we utilize the concept of the L 2 and H 1 projections used to adaptively generate a continuous approximation of an input material data in the finie element (FE) base. This approximation, along with a corresponding FE mesh, can be used as material data for FE solvers. We begin with abrief theoretical background, followed by description of the hp -adaptive algorithm adopted here to improve gradually quality of the projections. We investigate also a few distinct sample problems, apply the aforementioned algorithms and conclude with numerical results evaluation.

Opis:
The paper presents a new projection operator for graphs named AC-projection, which exhibits nice theoretical complexity properties unlike to the graph isomorphism operator typically used in graph mining. We study the size of the search space as well as some practical properties of the projection operator. We also introduce a novel breadth-first algorithm for frequent AC-reduced subgraphs mining. Then, we prove experimentally that we can achieve an important performance gain (polynomial complexity projection) without or with non-significant loss of discovered patterns in terms of quality.

Opis:
A brief history and a mathematical description of the dynamic projection operators technique is presented. An example of the general Cauchy problem for evolution equations in 1+ 1 dimensions is studied in detail. A boundary regime propagation is formulated in terms of operators and illustrated by the simplest one-dimensional diffusion equation. The problem of temperature waves is discussed.

Opis:
We consider a quasilinear vector differential equation which involves the p-Laplacian and a maximal monotone map. The boundary conditions are nonlinear and are determined by a generally multivalued, maximal monotone map. We prove two existence theorems. The first assumes that the maximal monotone map involved is everywhere defined and in the second we drop this requirement at the expense of strengthening the growth hypothesis on the vector field. The proofs are based on the theory of operators of monotone type and on the Leray-Schauder fixed point theorem. At the end we present some special cases (including the classical Dirichlet, Neumann and periodic problems), which illustrate the general and unifying features of our work.

Opis:
Design procedures are proposed for two different classes of observers for systems with unknown inputs. In the first approach, the state of the observed system is decomposed into known and unknown components. The unknown component is a projection, not necessarily orthogonal, of the whole state along the subspace in which the available state component resides. Then, a dynamical system to estimate the unknown component is constructed. Combining the output of the dynamical system, which estimates the unknown state component, with the available state information results in an observer that estimates the whole state. It is shown that some previously proposed observer architectures can be obtained using the projection operator approach presented in this paper. The second approach combines sliding modes and the second method of Lyapunov resulting in a nonlinear observer. The nonlinear component of the sliding mode observer forces the observation error into the sliding mode along a manifold in the observation error space. Design algorithms are given for both types of observers.
