The main issues of the article touch on some fire protection aspects in the context of tourism which is the security of hotel guests. This article covers basic issues related to providing security and fire protection. The purpose of this article is to raise and diagnose awareness among tourists, including hotel guests with regard to fire protection. At the hotel, in particular, this assessment may help us to find the right answer to the question about how security and fire protection are perceived by hotel guests. In order to do this, we have done a survey among 107 hotel guests at the hotel situated in Silesia.

Opis:
Wettability of poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) by aqueous solutions of binary mixtures composed of sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT) with polyoxyethylene (23) lauryl ether (Brij 35) was considered on the basis of the measured values of contact angle and surface tension. It was shown that the value of the critical surface tension of PTFE surface wetting at the studied system (23.5 mN/m), does not depend on the concentration and composition of the binary mixtures of studied surfactants in water, and it was higer than the surface tension of PTFE (20.2 mN/m). The best wettability of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) by studied aqueous solutions of binary surfactants mixtures occurs at the mixtures concentration corresponding to the critical micelle concentration of their solutions.

This article, dedicated to illustrations created by Jan Lebenstein, points out the cultural condition of illustration itself and the works of the painter in particular. It shows analyzed problems in the perspective of culture of meeting. On the example of drawings to biblical story of The Babel Tower it indicates the artistic strategies of the painter which enable him to surpass certain cultural messages by the mean of a picture. Finally, in the synthetic way the article presents typology of Jan Lebenstein’s illustrations.

Artykuł poświęcony jest kwestiom przeglądowym związanym z widzeniem i wizualnością w prozie Herlinga-Grudzińskiego. Ukazuje funkcje oka i widzenia oraz znaczenia nadawane przez pisarza kreowanym obrazom literackim. Zwraca też uwagę na stylistyki malarskie, stanowiące kontekst dla zrozumienia pewnej eklektyczności warstwy wizualnej prac Grudzińskiego. Na przykładzie fragmentów z opowiadania Wieża prezentuje też sensualne bogactwo stosowanych przez tego autora rozwiązań, koncentrując się na określonym wycinku warsztatu Herlinga i jednocześnie przypominając o celach realizowanych przez niego przy pomocy wybranych zabiegów.
This article is dedicated to a review of questions related to the categories of seeing and the visual in the prose of Gustaw Herling-Grudziński. The paper shows the functions of the eye and seeing, as well as the significance of the literary images created by the writer. It also points out to the painterly stylistics which provide an important context for understanding the eclectic character of the visual layer of his works. On the example of some chosen extracts from the story entitled Wieża (The Tower), the article presents the sensual richness of the ideas used by Herling-Grudziński, focusing on the methods he adopted and describing the main goals he wanted to achieve by his application of certain literary tools.

The main goal of this article is to reveal anthropological dimention of the artistic creations of almost unknown painter, the wife of the outstanding polish writer Gustaw Herling-Grudziński – Krystyna Herling-Grudziński. In the text I ask questions about the vision of a human being that we can find in those pictures and the ways painter shows its depersonalization. The main motivation of the use of anthropological perspective in the study of those works is biography of the artist (especially her suicidal death) and the character of her creations.

　本論では説話ジャンルおよび、研究と体系化を困難にしているその幅広い領域に焦点を当てる。西尾光一氏など日本のわずかな研究者が、説話を定義する本質的な特色を識別しようと試みた。結果、この特異なジャンルを理解する一助となる、簡明で首尾一貫したものとなった。第一の目立った特徴は、説話は口承を起源とする文学であることで、数十年にも渡って伝承され、はっきりとした作家がいないということ。第二に、説話の本質がどうあれ、様々な伝説を集めた形をとる傾向が見られること。その他の説話の特徴としては、文学・音楽・慣習・植物・情事・日常生活といった世俗的な物語から、倫理的教訓のみならず仏教や神道から影響を受けた宗教的な内容のものまで、広範な主題を扱うことなどが挙げられる。 　筆者は特に中世の教養ある廷臣、橘成季が著した『古今著聞集』に着目する。これは、神々や鬼、帝、貴族、侍女、騎士、僧侶、村人そして超自然的な性質に結びついた動物など、種々雑多なものからなる特異な説話集として扱われるのにふさわしい。これに加えて、『古今著聞集』は序に続き20巻30篇と適切にまとめられた書物としての一面も持っている。こうした衒学的で演出的な細部は、他の説話集には見られない特徴として注目すべきである。

Suicidal behaviours are a severe problem of the contemporary society and a challenge for people dealing with the development of therapeutic and preventive programmes in suicidology. Many detailed and multi-aspect analyses of functioning of the people at risk of suicide are carried out within scientific research as well as various risk factors of suicidal attempts and committed suicides. Far fewer studies are focussed on the factors protecting against suicide, referred to as buffer or protective factors. For passwords: protective factor, suicide the number of records in the PubMed base amounts to 227, while for risk factor, suicide – 11 299. The objectives of this review of literature comprise: analysis of various factors protecting against suicide and attempt to assess their efficacy. The study involves reports and results of the research presented in English literature. Separately discussed were external and internal protective factors, and a number of publications on their subject were included. Most of research reports refer to preventive role of the family, social support, capability to cope with problems and stress, and self-estimation. An important role is ascribed to perception of causes to live. To a slightly less extent the researchers deal with a protective role of religion, pregnancy, hobby, and involvement in social activities. What has been so far ambiguous and little known is the correlation between sports practice and reduction of suicidal behaviours. The final part of the article presents the results of the studies on the seldom analysed protective factors, such as one’s attitude to life and death, fear of death, and sensitivity to pain, the efficacy of which in suicide prevention requires further research. While grouping the protective factors, their usefulness in the creation of supporting systems and preventive programmes was taken into account, passing over those whose efficacy had not been documented.
Zachowania samobójcze są poważnym problemem współczesnego społeczeństwa i wyzwaniem dla osób zajmujących się opracowywaniem programów terapeutycznych i profilaktycznych z dziedziny suicydologii. W ramach badań naukowych podejmuje się liczne szczegółowe i wieloaspektowe analizy funkcjonowania osób zagrożonych samobójstwem, a także różnych czynników ryzyka prób samobójczych i samobójstw dokonanych. Zdecydowanie mniej badań dotyczy czynników chroniących przed samobójstwem, inaczej buforowych, protekcyjnych. Dla hasła protective factor, suicide liczba rekordów w bazie PubMed wynosi 227, podczas gdy dla risk factor, suicide – 11 299. Cele niniejszego przeglądu piśmiennictwa to analiza rozmaitych czynników chroniących przed samobójstwem i próba oceny ich skuteczności. W pracy uwzględniono doniesienia i wyniki badań zawarte w literaturze anglojęzycznej. Odrębnie omówiono czynniki ochronne zewnętrzne i wewnętrzne, uwzględniono liczbę publikacji na ich temat. Najwięcej doniesień naukowych dotyczy prewencyjnej roli rodziny, wsparcia społecznego, umiejętności radzenia sobie z problemami i stresem oraz samooceny. Istotną rolę przypisuje się percepcji powodów do życia. W nieco mniejszym stopniu badacze zajmują się ochronną rolą religii, ciąży, hobby i zaangażowania w aktywności społeczne. Niejednoznaczny i mało dotychczas zbadany jest związek uprawiania sportu z redukcją zachowań suicydalnych. W końcowej części artykułu zaprezentowano wyniki badań nad zdecydowanie rzadziej analizowanymi czynnikami ochronnymi, takimi jak postawa wobec życia i śmierci, lęk przed śmiercią i wrażliwość na ból, których skuteczność w zapobieganiu samobójstwom wymaga dalszych dociekań. W trakcie grupowania czynników ochronnych kierowano się ich przydatnością w tworzeniu systemów wsparcia i programów profilaktycznych – z pominięciem tych o nieudokumentowanej skuteczności.

The problem of shaping the security designates one of the most important tasks facing the state nowadays. The key role in constituting and maintaining an adequate level of security of the state plays a strategy and national policy on the field of leadership, efficient organization of crisis management system or the elimination of internal and external threats. Knowledge about the essence of the state security sets the scope of self-determination of citizens with reference to their basic existential needs and requirements, as well as national values. The implementation of these requirements is generally understood as protection of life and health, timeless ethical values, property and environment, as well as state institutions against threats from the forces of nature and human activities. Neutralizing these threats must be a priority of the state, since the proper management of security leads to the survival of current and future generations of Poles and ensures proper living conditions and development. Creation of a superior, integrated plans of defense of life and human health and the protection of national infrastructure is of a great importance for the security of the country. The focus on the utilization of full potential of both the state and local authorities and commercial protection establishments also becomes the most valuable.

Tar formation is a significant issue during biomass gasification. Catalytic removal of tars with the use of nickel cata-lyst allows to obtain high conversion rate but coke formation on catalysts surface lead to its deactivation. Toluene decomposition as a tar imitator was studied in gliding discharge plasma-catalytic system with the use of 5%, 10% and 15% by weight Ni and NiO catalyst on Al2O3 (α-Al2O3) and Peshiney (γ-Al2O3) carrier in gas composition similar to the gas after biomass pyrolysis. The optimal concentration of nickel was identified to be 10% by weight on Al2O3. It was stable in all studiedinitial toluene concentrations, discharge power while C7H8 conversion rate remained high – up to 82%. During the process, nickel catalysts were deactivated by sooth formation on the surface. On catalysts surface, toluene decomposition products were identified including benzyl alcohol and 3-hexen-2-one.

W opracowaniu zaprezentowano wyniki badań zużycia tribologicznego protetycznych odlewniczych stopów Co-Cr z mikrododatkami Mo i W. Badania odporności na zużycie ścierne wykonano przy użyciu testera T-05 w układzie trącym rolka–klocek, które przeprowadzono w styku ślizgowym suchym w warunkach kontaktu metal–metal. Dokonano jakościowej i ilościowej oceny mikrostruktury stopów w korelacji z twardością i ich zużyciem ściernym. Analiza odporności na zużycie ścierne badanych stopów obejmowała analizę takich parametrów jak, relatywny ubytek masy próbki, średnia wartość współczynnika tarcia oraz głębokość wytarcia. Stwierdzono, że badane stopy Co-Cr-Mo-W charakteryzują się niską wartością średniego współczynnika tarcia, niezależną od czasu trwania próby tribologicznej, co wskazuje na brak zmian mechanizmu zużywania wraz ze wzrostem czasu trwania próby. Odporność na zużycie ścierne badanych materiałów związana była z morfologią faz obserwowanych w mikrostrukturze stopów po procesie krzepnięcia. Podobna szerokość obszarów międzydendrytycznych skutkuje podobnym stopniem zużycia masowego badanych materiałów.
The paper presents the results of investigations performed in the scope of the tribological wear of prosthetic cast alloys Co-Cr with micro-additions Mo and W. Abrasive wear resistance tests were carried out by means of a T-05 tester in the roller-block friction system in dry sliding metal-metal contact. A qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the alloy microstructure was made in correlation with hardness and abrasive wear. The analysis of the abrasive wear resistance of the examined alloys included an analysis of such parameters as the relative mass loss of the sample, the mean friction coefficient value, and the wear depth. It was established that the examined alloys Co-Cr-Mo-W are characterize by a low value of the friction coefficient, independent of the tribological test duration, which points to the lack of changes in the wear mechanism with the increase of the test duration time. The abrasive wear resistance of the tested materials are related to the morphology of the phases at the alloys microstructure after the solidification. A similar width of the interdendritic areas results in a similar degree of mass loss for the examined materials.

: Recent research on reading situation in Poland indicates decreasing interest in books among adults. This tendency is also supposedly followed by changes in reading models as well as different ways of reader-text interactions. Since internauts are generally believed to be a non-reading community, an online questionnaire for Facebook users was prepared, a group which is quite easy to reach, to get a better insight into the situation. The research was carried out between April 23rd and May 3rd 2011 on a group of 150 respondents. It focused on book reading and purchasing intensity, book choices, most commonly used book sources, reading traditional magazines, online magazines, e-books and using digital libraries. It was available in either Polish or English language version. A total of 138 respondents from Poland, USA, UK, Tunisia, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, Germany, Mexico, South Korea and Switzerland took part, one origin unknown. Most of them (74,67%) were people between 17 and 35 years old, the eldest one being 77, the youngest 13. Out of 138 interviewees, 110 were women, over 76% lived in urban areas and declared their education level as higher (57,3%) or secondary (28,7%). The results proved surprisingly optimistic. Only 9 interviewees admitted that they had not read any books in the last 12 months, others read 0–2 or 3–5 books a month. Fantasy, suspense fiction and classical novels were the most popular among them. When asked about favourite titles, respondents listed mainly classics of world literature and popular bestsellers. Reviews as well as recommendations of family members or friends had the greatest influence on their reading choices. Almost 75% of survey participants bought books, usually once a month or once every few months, however, they preferred to borrow them from libraries or friends. Almost half of Polish respondents read e-books and online magazines, although they avoided using digital libraries. They also read traditional print magazines, especially political and social ones, women and popular science magazines. As the results show, reading still remains one of the most popular forms of spending free time for both interviewed Facebook users and other members of their communities. Books are also a popular subject of their conversations and discussions in both real and virtual space.
