Opis:
The education towards the job of a social employee requires the learning of specific knowledge that ensures the interdisciplinary and versatile preparation of a future professional. In this aspect, social projects are of particular importance as due to their multitasking requirements they stimulate student activity, allow for the combination of knowledge with action and activate reflexive behaviour, which allows for the evaluation of the designed activities. The preparation and implementation of projects are related to the necessity to assume a number of roles, creating the opportunity to test oneself in new activities and to determine the degree of self-readiness to do/perform the job. The aim of the article is to highlight the educational values of designing and presenting the structure of social projects realized at the Social Work Unit at the Institute of Sociology of the University of Silesia. The text also points out the difficulties that occur during the specific stages of project work and provides tips in order to avoid such difficulties.

Opis:
In the education of social workers, it is particularly important to seek working methods that provide to experience values which define the foundations of professional action. The authors of the article approve the personalistic philosophy as a theoretical basis of educational work, the practice of which is based on the cooperation of academic staff and students, striving for partnership, open dialogue and experiencing personal subjectivity. Nevertheless, the essence of the issue is to search for the content of education, which refers not only to contemporary social issues, but also to their historical conditions and correlates. The context for the article is a reflection on the history of 20th century eugenics, with particular emphasis on the extermination of nearly a quarter of a million people with mental illness and disabilities performed by the German Nazi. It is difficult, without studying the times in which the history derailed, to fully understand the social responsibility of people who are particularly vulnerable and exposed to social non-recognition and damage. The curriculum of social workers’ education at the Institute of Sociology of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow has included the space of the Clinical Hospital in Krakow's Kobierzyn, where, in cooperation with the Institute of Therapy and Social Education - the Association, an educational project under the name of Axiological Walk in Kobierzyn is being implemented. The article is based on reflection on axiological education in the light of evaluation of the aforementioned project.

Opis:
Purpose of research. The purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between theoretical assumptions and the implementation of health education at the elementary school level. Method of research. The study used a data collection method based on secondary sources (Rubacha, 2011). Analysis concerned the procedures for implementation of health education that were included in the teachers' work plans (English, nature studies, physical education, upbringing in the family), based on the guidelines included in the core curricula of pre-school education and general education in particular types of schools (Journal of Laws 2014, item 803). Results. In the course of the analysis of the documentation it was stated that the didactic plans contain the objectives, tasks and content of health education. In the first stage of education, the content of health education is implemented in a spiral system, which means that students in the following years gradually enrich and deepen their competence (Celarek, Dąbrowski, Jankowski, 1999). In grades 4-6 differences were found in terms of the assumptions contained in the curriculum and the curricula of the following subjects: nature studies and upbringing in the family. In grades 5 and 6, the work plans for the subject of nature studies have shown no continuation of the spiral implementation of the content of health and health care in grades 5 and 6. In classes 5 and 6 students are not equipped with knowledge about the biology of human development (pregnancy, childbirth). Conclusions. 1. This documentary analysis locates the content of health education indicated by the core curriculum in the holistic health concept. 2. The content of health education is implemented at both stages of education in the subjects identified by the core curriculum. 3. The teachers' work plans contained the content of health education included in the curriculum.
Cel badań. Celem badań było rozpoznanie związku pomiędzy założeniami teoretycznymi a realizacją edukacji zdrowotnej na etapie szkoły podstawowej. Metoda badań. W badaniach zastosowano metodę zbierania danych w oparciu o źródła wtórne (Rubacha, 2011). Analizie poddano zapisy dotyczące procedur realizacji edukacji zdrowotnej zapisane w przedmiotowych planach pracy nauczycieli (język angielski, przyroda, wychowanie fizyczne, wychowanie do życia w rodzinie) w oparciu o wytyczne zawarte w podstawach programowych wychowania przedszkolnego oraz kształcenia ogólnego w poszczególnych typach szkół (Dz. U. 2014, poz. 803). Wyniki. W klasach 4 – 6 zauważono rozbieżności co do założeń zawartych w podstawie programowej a przedmiotowymi planami nauczania w przedmiotach: przyroda i wychowanie do życia w rodzinie. Otóż w klasie 5 i 6 plany pracy z przedmiotu przyroda wykazały brak kontynuacji spiralnej realizacji treści z obszaru zdrowie i troska o zdrowie w klasach 5 i 6. W kasie 5 i 6 nie wyposażają uczniów w wiedzę dotyczącą biologii rozwoju człowieka (ciąża, rozwój płodu, poród). Wnioski. 1. Przedmiotowa analiza dokumentacji umiejscawia treści edukacji zdrowotnej wskazane podstawą programową w holistycznej koncepcji zdrowia. 2. Treści edukacji zdrowotnej są realizowane na obu etapach kształcenia w zakresie przedmiotów wskazanych podstawą programową. 3. Przedmiotowe plany pracy nauczycieli zawierały treści edukacji zdrowotnej zawarte w podstawie programowej.

The concept of social pedagogy can be studied from different perspectives and with diverse foci. According to Eriksson & Markström (2000) there are three main ways to study the phenomenon of social pedagogy: as an area of expertise, academic subject or professional action. In this article the main focus is on social pedagogy as an area of expertise or in other words its knowledge field and territory. Alternatively, according to Brante (2003) the core, the periphery and limits of social pedagogy.

Opis:
There is a developmental value in each crisis. Crises are a part of every society, economy, system… They are experienced by the individuals at the various stages of their lives. Most clearly, the path of life is defined in the relation to the biographical perspective. On one hand, it is perceived as the institutionalization of the course of life (M. Kohli 1985), and on the other, as an autonomous, resource-based project and individual construction of one’s own development path. From the perspective of late modernity the ways of overcoming difficulties and life crises have changed their sense and meaning. The biography has lost the character of a socially determined construct to its diverse, mobile, subjectifying form. It is because of education and migration processes as well as the cultural changes and development of new technologies. The opportunities to go beyond the frames of social environment are the hallmarks of progress and modernity and at the same time make human life highly uncertain and vulnerable to the developmental crises. The subjectification of the biography most fully expressed in the concept of ‘self-governance’ by M. Foucault (2000) brings with it many difficulties and pitfalls. This probably explains the phenomenon of increasing social differences, deepening dysfunctionality of institutions, weaknesses of systematic solutions and insufficient theories in social practice. This area brings many challenges to social policy, social pedagogy and social work. The current issue of our journal is dedicated to the reflection on such topics.

the leading social issues. Particular importance is given to the problem of its proper management. This article is devoted to the issues of leisure time as a social work domain. The starting point was an attempt to determine the discussed concept. The main aspects of leisure time and the features of leisure time activity were indicated. Then – referring to the classification of selected authors – the basic functions of leisure time were characterized, including the perspective of social pedagogy (having a rest, playing, self-development). Next, the essence of social work was defined and its essential functions were listed. Finally, the attention was paid to leisure time as an important indicator of social participation and one of the key domains of social work. Here the concept of Pierre Bourdieu’s capital was referred to. In the final part of the study, the educational dimension of social work in the context of leisure time was pointed out.

The aim of this paper is to present an autobiographical account on the prospects and process of academic career in Nordic countries, and specifically in Sweden. The method used is biographical, or self-ethnographic, dealing with life transitions including struggles and experiences when making the career. The point of departure is the final step in the academic career, i.e. Professorship, and reconstruction of the life events backwards, both as diachronic, a moment in time, as well as synchronic, over time dimensions. This includes research initiation, PhD writing, Postdoc experience, habilitation, and struggling to get a position of a senior lecturer and finally a professor. Involvement in various projects and international networking are presented. Biographical work and learning are used to understand how a woman researcher is navigating in a difficult male dominated terrain, including both negative and positive experiences.

This article is a continuation of deliberations on the identity and history of Polish social services. In Particular, it refers to the issues of the origins and beginnings of the formation of the educational system of social workers. Memory of the beginnings is an essential element of thinking about the future in the present. Creating solutions for the future, without respect for the achievements of the past, carries a number of risks of errors, which is the experience of past generations. It also allows the risk of abandonment of effective solutions in the development, which are becoming specific to native, cultural, or psychological factors. History is, in fact, a perfect teacher for contemporary activists involved in the fields of practice and theory.

The article presents changes in perception of some aspects of psychosocial school environment of students in 1990–2010 and a comparison of some indicators for Polish students and average for 34–41 countries from HBSC network (Health Behaviour in School-aged Children. A WHO Collaborative Cross-national Study). Data from the international HBSC surveys on health behaviour of school children, carried out every 4 years were analysed. The HBSC standard questionnaire was used. Representative samples consist of students aged 11, 13, 15 years. About 60% of students liked school; 14% didn’t like it at all; 37–63% felt pressured by schoolwork; 50% agreed that their classmates were kind and helpful. Analysed indicators were less positive in Poland than the average for countries in HBSC network and different trends of some indicators were found. Between 2002–2010 (after a structural reform of the education system) disadvantageous changes were evident. Students’ perception concerning different aspects of school functioning and its environment should be taken into consideration in planning educational policy.

The adoption of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) underlines the status of inclusion as a human right. In this context, inclusion means being involved in society, and people being acknowledged whatever their abilities and needs. The article gives an insight into the international debate on inclusion, and the discussion and state of implementation in Germany. It advocates a relational concept of inclusion making use of an “agency-vulnerability nexus”. Just like the human rights understanding of inclusion, relational theories of agency and vulnerability examine the processes in social environments which enable or hinder agency. They focus on professional practice, the organisational structures of social services, political conditions and social discourse (for example on disability or refugeeism) and how they are relevant to subjective scopes of action. A perspective of this kind has inherent potential with regard to social criticism, and this is indispensable for a debate which understands inclusion as a task to be tackled by society as a whole.

The article focuses on selected contexts of unemployment of young people, characteristic features of protection of the young people against unemployment. Youth unemployment as a multidisciplinary problem must be seen in several contexts and that is why social workers should be familiar with these wider social aspects. In spite of that, we cannot ignore the importance of changes in individual characteristic features of the young unemployed or of the youth threatened by unemployment. Consistent action of all actors participating in dealing with the problem is necessary to achieve a measurable output, i.e. to decrease youth unemployment but also to protect young people against unemployment.

Artykuł ten dotyczy etyki pracy w zawodzie nauczyciela akademickiego. Swoje rozważania prowadzę w oparciu o dwie główne teorie: protestanckiej etyki pracy Maxa Webera oraz jej adaptacji do środowiska akademickiego Roberta Mertona.
In this article I focus on professional work ethics for academic teachers. My considerations are based on the analysis of two main theories: the Protestant work ethics, by Max Weber, and its adaptation to the academic environment, by Robert Merton. I evaluate how these theories can contribute to shaping the academic ethos in the Polish context, drawing upon Dietrich Bonhoeff er’s works and the fundamental values of the Protestant work ethos - honesty, reliability and diligence - presenting their religious and secular aspects. Against the above background I attempt a review of ethical risks and violations among Polish academics, pointing to the category of responsibility as crucial in the process of building an academic ethos.
