    The article discusses the topic of defining femininity in Russia on the basis of cultural patterns existing in society. The subject of the research is a woman in Russian tv series Мамочки. The article also examine the role oft he media in creating new reality. The research tool which has been used in this publication is a TV series – understood as a text of culture. Using the content and visual images included in the tv series, the specifics of gender roles in contemporary Russia have been pointed out.

    The article analyses possible interests, attitudes and activities of the major actors in the ‘natural gas supply game’ in Europe after 1990: Russia/Gazprom, alternative suppliers like countries in the Caspian Sea area, the main consumers of gas and transit countries. It stresses that behaviour of the actors depends on the changing international political and economic situation and conditions in individual countries. Special attention is paid to pipeline projects: Nord Stream, South Stream and Nabucco, and reactions to them, such as building a LGN terminal at Świnoujście (Poland), North-South (Baltic-Adriatic) energy corridor and the Polish-Russian gas contract of 2010.

    In the presented text, the author compares the cultural contexts of producing discourses of memory in Poland and Russia. Accepting the assumptions of cognitive linguistics, he looks at cultural events in Russia, which he treats as metonymies that reflect wider cultural processes. On this basis, he builds a critical apparatus, which is then applied to the Polish context. An analysis of the Polish debate about the Museum of the Second World War shows the analogy of the discursive mechanisms of memory in both countries, where the apotheosis of militarism is beginning to dominate.

    In the article I discuss the influence of Pyotr Chaadayev’s thoughts contained in the first Philosophical Letter on Alexander Herzen’s concept. Chaadayev was openly intriguing, as despite general societal silence he spoke out against the Russian state oppressing an individual. I pay attention to the fact that Herzen’s attempt to defend an individual appropriated by abstraction (the state, God, ideology, progress) stems from the sources of Chaadayev’s concepts. Herzen revalues Chaadayev’s idea of Russia free from the burden of history, shifting the focus from historiography to philosophical anthropology. Each individual becomes part of it, as originally we are all deprived of history, its burden, every man thrown into the world is not ready, undefined, the past does not exist for him, just as the presence exists and the future opens potentially with multiple variants.

    The article presents the preconditions and empirical limitations for implementation of ideal-type deliberative democratic decision making in foreign relations sphere which exist in Ukraine. Communicative representation theory explains the stability of the Ukrainian public system in the foreign policy dimension (Ukraine-Russia relations case) through the functionality of foreign policy determined by elites, social tension and conflict of orientations in the transformation period. Politicians’ communication is generalized through media-strategies: the hidden (nomenclatura-styled), ambivalent, and confrontational. A computer algorithm for structural and morphological analysis of large amounts of text data (Ukrainian and Russian messages on official web-sites) created. Text corpuses are transformed into the semantic network of an issue, combined with all of the attributes which an analyst may be interested in (time, place, author, potential audience, etc.). For the analysis of large number (hundreds) of surveys with different sample size and different wording of questions the technique of thematic clustering of questions with the use of content analysis applied.
    Artykuł przedstawia warunki konieczne (a także empiryczne ograniczenia), które pozostają niezbędne do wdrożenia w sferze ukraińskiej polityki zagranicznej demokratycznego i deliberatywnego procesu decyzyjnego. Teoria reprezentacji wyjaśnia stabilność ukraińskiego systemu społecznego w tym wymiarze (np. w odniesieniu do relacji między Ukrainą a Rosją) poprzez to, jak polityka ta była kształtowana w okresie transformacji ustrojowej przez elity, napięcia społeczne oraz konflikty dotyczące kierunku rozwoju państwa. Komunikacja polityczna upowszechniana jest poprzez określone strategie dyskursywne: ukryte (formułowane w stylu właściwym dla nomenklatury), ambiwalentne oraz konfrontacyjne. Dla strukturalnej i morfologicznej analizy tych strategii utworzono określony algorytm komputerowy, obejmujący znaczną ilość danych (wiadomości obecnych na ukraińskich i rosyjskich stronach rządowych). Korpusy badanych tekstów zostały przekształcone w semantyczną sieć dotyczącą danego zagadnienia, połączoną z tymi wszystkimi cechami, które stanowiły przedmiot zainteresowania samego badacza (np. czas, miejsce, autor, potencjalna liczba odbiorców itd.). Z kolei do badania dużej liczby sondaży przeprowadzonych na różnych próbach i z użyciem odmiennych pytań zastosowano technikę tematycznego skupiania pytań za pomocą analizy zawartości.

    The last two years of development of the Russian political system were characterised by the protest mood increasing. Social discontent and various forms of political protest have become a noticeable element of social and political life. It is symptomatic that the protest mood develops during electoral campaigns (that predetermined the victory of the opposition in the elections in a number of regions), and also as a result of development and implementation of the current governmental processes. Considering that elections have been held in the majority of Russian regions during 2017-2019, the attention to the protest movement from various political actors will increase. The authors analyze the forms, main actors and technologies of protests, worked out their typology based on case studies. The current protest mood in Russia is compared with the situation in several EU countries (primarily in France, as well as in Portugal, Poland, Serbia and Greece). In conclusion of the article will be presented the forecasts of the socio-political situation development in the Russian Federation.

    In recent years, it is difficult not to notice the growing number of serious crises experienced by the European Union. It is clear that the old methods of overcoming crises in today’s reality do not work anymore. The United Kingdom European Union membership referendum in June 2016 (the so-called Brexit) can undoubtedly be called a special turning point in the existence and functioning of the EU. The aim of the article is to present, analyse and compare opinions and assessments created in the expert and academic environment in Russia on the future of the European Union after the referendum in Great Britain. Another goal is to find an answer to the question of what future of relations between the EU and Russia is expected by Russian researchers and experts. In the article the following research methods were used: desk research, critical analysis, comparative method and analysis of media discourse.

    Stare druki polskiego pochodzenia stanowią jedne z najciekawszych zabytków należących do zbioru europejskich książek XV–XX w. Oddziału Książki Rzadkiej i Rękopisów GPNTB SO RAN. Nie tworzą w nich wydzielonego zasobu i znajdują się tylko w dwóch kolekcjach Oddziału – zbiorach Tobolskiego Seminarium Duchownego oraz europejskich wydawnictw naukowych. Wszystkie bez wyjątku są niezwykle interesujące – zarówno z punktu widzenia ich tematyki, jak i autorstwa, wiadomości o wydawnictwach i proweniencji. W artykule poglądowo zaprezentowano obce zasoby Oddziału, gdyż stanowią one kontekst, w którym funkcjonują na Syberii, już prawie od poł wieku, książki od XVI do XIX w. związane z historią Polski. Również poglądowo przedstawione zostały cymelia wydane po polsku lub w Polsce, dotyczące Polski i Polaków oraz rzadkie egzemplarze pochodzące z dawnych polskich bibliotek, które na skutek rożnych wydarzeń znalazły się na Syberii. Studiowanie historii księgozbiorów, rekonstruowanej na podstawie zachowanych na egzemplarzach ekslibrisów, pieczątek, naklejek, charakterystycznych opraw itd., pozwoliło stwierdzić, że niektóre znaki własnościowe występują wielokrotnie. To z kolei pozwala na traktowanie tych przypadków jako większych lub mniejszych umownie wydzielonych kolekcji polskich książek w zbiorach Oddziału Książki Rzadkiej i Rękopisów GPNTB SO RAN.
    Old prints of Polish provenance belong to the more interesting materials of the European Book Collection (15th – 20th c.) of the Division of Rare Books and Manuscripts of the State Public Scientifi c Technological Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk (Госуда́рственная публи́чная нау́чно-техни́ческая библиоте́ка Сиби́рского отделе́ния Росси́йской акаде́мии нау́к). These books do not form a separate organisational unit. They remain dispersed among the two basic collections of the Division: the Tobolsk Seminary and the European Scientifi c Publications. All these books, without exception, are very interesting, from the point of view of their contents, authorship, publication details, and provenance. The article presents a summary overview of all the foreign collections of the Division, because they form the context in which the Polish books, dated from the 16th to the 19th c., function in Siberia for over 50 years now. This is followed by a description of the books published in Polish, or in Poland, and some rare copies of books formerly kept in Polish libraries, which later on found their way to Siberia. Studies into the history of book collections, reconstructed on the basis of various provenance marks on the copies (bookplates, stamps, stickers, characteristic bookbindings, etc.), revealed the existence of provenance marks, which appear many times, and so allowed for distinguishing various subcollections of Polish books in the holdings of the Division.

    This paper constitutes an analysis of the background, the main external factors and the consequences of the coup as well as the measures undertaken by the Turkish authorities to prevent the destabilizing effects of the rebellion which took place in Turkey in July 2016. The authors analyses the nature of events occurring in the country, the factors conditioning the failure of the aforementioned rebellion and the conditions for the possible attempts at revenge by the anti-government forces.

    Evgeniy Vaskovsky always enjoyed well-deserved reputation, in the first place as a specialist in the civil process. His fame as a material civil lawyer and, in particular, as a civil lawyer-educator, somewhat less; even in Russia, the star of his civil-name is eclipsing by other many civil stars, more bright and flashy. The article attempts to at least partially fix this obvious injustice – tell about “The Handbook of Civil Law” by Evgeniy Vaskovsky. Unfortunately, the Handbook was left unfinished: it was limited to only two parties – the General Provisions and the Rights in Rem. Despite this fact, as well as those one hundred thirty years that have passed since its publication, “The Handbook of Civil Law” by Evgeniy Vaskovsky continues to be more than relevant, useful and even instructive piece not only academic, but also scientific as well as practical destination.

    The article analyses the Angela Merkel government’s attitude towards far-reaching plans to rebuild the EU of the French president in three key areas: EU architecture, refugee issue and security policy and towards two non-EU players on the continent: Russia and Turkey. The article is trying to prove that the head of the German government, preferring the unity of the EU rather than integration, will looking for compromise with Macron, taking into account different from the French one positions of other EU countries, and will try to stop the wave of the refugees from Africa through agreements with African countries. Regarding the Turkish autocrat, to avoid provocation, A.Merkel will attempt pragmatic relations. Also regarding Russia, even though it poses a threat to the security of the EU, she will consider (as the requirement of the moment) to establish a network of lively relations with the Putin state.

    Celem badawczym jest charakterystyka obrazu dziejów Rosji w polskim piśmiennictwie epoki stanisławowskiej (z uwzględnieniem niezrealizowanych ostatecznie inicjatyw wydawniczych). Artykuł obejmuje okres do I rozbioru polsko- litewskiego państwa (1772). Zainteresowanie dziejami potężnego sąsiada, wpływającego w istotny sposób na bieg wydarzeń w Rzeczpospolitej, ujawnia się już w czasach panowania Augusta III wraz z dążeniem do poszerzenia oglądu świata i startem opartego na wzorcach historiografii erudycyjnej programu edytorskiego Biblioteki Załuskich (otwartej dla publiczności w 1747 r.). Te wzorce objaśniają zainteresowanie kwestią źródeł do historii Rosji, bibliografii przedmiotowej, chronologii, faktografii. Osiągnięcia okazują się jednak dość skromne, bowiem podstawę wiedzy o historii Rosji stanowiła głownie popularna literatura francuskojęzyczna. Autorzy polscy nie starają się wykorzystać swej lepszej znajomości wtopionego w przestrzeń kulturową Rzeczypospolitej „ruskiego” świata (języka, prawosławia, obyczajów). Wolą korzystać z dorobku francuskich kompilatorów, powielać lub adaptować ich ujęcia, schematy i oceny, nawet ze świadomością strukturalnych wad tego dziejopisarstwa. W analizowanym piśmiennictwie można dostrzec też wpływ ugruntowanego w Rzeczypospolitej przynajmniej od XVII w. negatywnego stereotypu „Moskala”.
    The author undertakes to characterise the image of Russia in the Polish literaturę of the era of King Stanisław Poniatowski (including editorial projects, which actually never came to fruition). The article brings the story to the First Partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (1772). Interest in the history of the mighty neighbour, who markedly infl uenced the course of political events in the Commonwealth, can be noticed as early as during the reign of King Augustus III. It accompanied the tendency to widen the scope of the view of the surrounding world brought in by the erudite historiography in the editorial programme of the Załuski Library (opened to the public in 1747). This in turn explains the interest in primary sources, bibliography, chronology, and the history of Russia itself. However, the results of these interests seem modest. The majority of the works that appeared were based on popular French literature. The Polish authors made little effort to use their superior knowledge of the Ruthenian world amalgamated with the fabric of the Commonwealth (language, Eastern Christianity, customs). Instead, they preferred to keep to the French compilations, copy or adapt their views, patterns, and evaluations, even if they were conscious of the structural fallacies of such historiography. The other thing evident in the analysed writings is the presence of the negative stereotype of the “Muscovite”. This stereotype appeared in the Commonwealth not later than during the XVII century.
