    Opis:
    Corpora provide teachers and materials developers with the ability to ensure that the instructions they use in class and in teaching materials correctly reflect natural use. This paper examines the ways in which grammar reference books and two types of EFL/ESL materials present the past perfect aspect and whether they do so accurately. It will be argued that there are several issues concerning how these books present the grammar point. Many of the books surveyed provide incomplete explanations of when and how the form is used and several contain usage guidelines that are not supported by available corpus data. The paper ends with several recommendations to improve how the form is presented to teachers and learners.

    This paper traces the changes in the development of the field of knowledge management (KM) over time, through a review of the representative literature and the author’s own research. The paper starts by going back to the origins of KM and reflects on three significant evolutionary stages termed fragmentation, integration and fusion. Following these reflections on the KM past, the paper speculates on the possible KM future. It identifies three emerging trends named extension, specialization and reconceptualization that point to several possible KM futures. The first two involve decentralisation and regeneration of prior KM interpretations, while the third trend signals a revolutionary next KM generation. Irrespective of the direction it may take, the evidence presented in this paper suggests that KM has a future, although it may not be without challenges.

    The article presents the most important and the most interesting prose and poetry publications that appeared in 2013. Last year was marked by a dominance of well known authors (such as Justyna Bargielska, Jacek Dehnel, Julia Hartwig, Ignacy Karpowicz, Wiesław Myśliwski, Jerzy Pilch, Eustacy Rylski or Marcin Świetlicki) and proved that books that consider identity problems and facing the demons of the past can gain positive readers’ response.

    This paper considers how Frances Itani’s Deafening imaginatively rethinks our understanding of the Great War in the age of postmemory. Seeing as the novel is set in Canada and Europe during the First World War and takes as its protagonist a deaf woman, the poetic attention given to the senses as a horizon of phenomenological experience magnifies the moral bonds that the characters establish in defi ance of both deafness and death. Guided by the theoretical reasoning of Marianne Hirsch, Elaine Scarry, and Alison Landsberg as well as contemporary phenomenological thinking, most significantly that of Edward S. Casey, Steven Connor, Michel Serres, and Jean-Luc Nancy, this paper examines how the novel’s attentiveness to the materiality of the body in regard to the ethical collisions of sound and silence as well as life and death contributes to a poetics of resonance that generates prosthetic memories, turning the anonymous record of war into a private experience of moral endurance inscribed on the ear of historical legacy.

    The main purpose of the article is to analyze the international dimension of the Polish politics of memory executed by commemorative and anniversary resolutions of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. The adopted resolutions are often sources of conflicts and disputes, which translate into interstate divisions. They also have a negative impact on the relations with other states. The examples of such disputes were discussions on resolutions relating to the seventieth anniversary of the Soviet aggression against Poland (2009) and the seventy third anniversary of the Volhynia massacre (2016). In this essay I make an attempt, among other things, to reconstruct and evaluate them.

    Opis:
    Rekonstrukcja historyczna, nazywana również odtwórstwem historycznym, zyskała w Polsce popularność na przełomie XX i XXI wieku. Szybko zainteresowały się tym zjawiskiem media oraz twórcy programów szkolnych czy nauczyciele. Jej zwolennicy przedstawiają ją jako bezpośrednią, autentyczną, „zmysłową”, lepszą od „podręcznikowego” i „szkolnego” poznawania historii. Jednak rekonstrukcja historyczna nie jest bezpośrednim „powrotem do przeszłości”, lecz odmienną formę zapośredniczenia (a więc – medium) i jako taka obarczona jest innymi niż podręczniki, charakterystycznymi dla siebie, zniekształceniami; nie jest jednak od nich wolna. Potrzeba bezpośredniego poznania jest naturalną dla człowieka, dlatego duże uznanie zyskuje każde medium, które daje nadzieję na przekroczenie zapośredniczenia.
    Historic reconstruction, called as well historic reproduction, has become popular since the end of 20th century. Media, educators and teachers has become interested in this phenomenon. Its propagators present it as a direct, authentic, sensual, better than from the textbook and school-like method of learning history. However, historic reconstruction is not a direct “back to the past” form but a different form of reproduction, so a kind of medium, and as such it has different than textbooks deformations, it is not free from them. Its popularity is connected with the hope of crossing the reproduction because the need of direct learning is a natural human need.

    Opis:
    Selected residential interiors and remnants of the architecture of the Mazovia region are special features in the surroundings. They were developed in the second half of the 20th century in the reality of the Polish People’s Republic. A photographic report is more an aesthetic impression than a realistic document, it is a cycle of exploration and reflection, a journey through selected residential buildings in Mazovia from the turn of the 19th and the 20th. The common features of the photographed houses are the interior design of the past decades, lack of innovation, devastation, desolation or execution without a design. As a result of various twists of fate, some dwellings are subject to gradual deterioration. The photographic project has been carried out for several years with breaks, it is a collection of photographs of the interiors of selected objects. Photographic recording is the provision of images of disappearing Polish homes. The project took into consideration freestanding buildings belonging to rural households and facilities located in small towns.
    Elementem szczególnym w otoczeniu są wybrane wnętrza mieszkalne i pozostałości architektury okolic Mazowsza. Zostały one zagospodarowane w drugiej połowie XX w., w realiach czasów PRL. Reportaż fotograficzny jest bardziej estetyczną impresją niż realistycznym dokumentem, stanowi cykl poszukiwań i rozważań, wędrówkę po wybranych obiektach mieszkalnych z przełomu XIX/XX w., położonych na terenie Mazowsza. „Cykl Fotografii” opatrzony jest komentarzem odnoszącym się do każdego ogniska domowego. Wnętrza powiązane są z historią ludzi, którzy je urządzali latami. Jako cechę wspólną fotografowanych domostw możemy uznać zagospodarowanie wnętrz w przeszłości, brak innowacji, dewastację, czasem opustoszenie lub realizację bez projektu. W wyniku kolei losu niektóre obiekty mieszkalne ulegają stopniowemu destruktowi. Niszczenie wnętrz widoczne jest w każdym przypadku, choć w różnym stopniu. Projekt fotograficzny, realizowany jest od kilku lat z przerwami i ma formę fotografii wnętrz, w wybranych obiektach. Zapis fotograficzny jest realizacją obrazów znikających mazowieckich domostw. W projekcie brane były pod uwagę wnętrza budynków wolnostojących, należące do gospodarstw wiejskich i obiekty zlokalizowane w małych miasteczkach. Przedmiotem badań były wnętrza wybranych obiektów, ale nie ich zewnętrzna bryła.
