With the increase in global spatial mobility the importance of migration policy (including integration policy) is increasing day by day, both in developed countries and new market economies. In the course of the research on migration policy various measures were constructed. Even though the particular measures relate to different areas of migration policy, they do not refer to the effectiveness of migration policy. The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of the integration of immigrants into the labour market in the countries that belong to the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) and to analyse the relationships between these effects and the integration policy adopted by the individual countries. The TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution) method and the CRITIC (Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation) method were used in the research. The results indicate that the highest effectiveness of migration policy in terms of integration of immigrants into the labour market was reported in the following OECD countries: Iceland, Switzerland and New Zealand. The results also suggest that the higher the level of integration policy restrictiveness in a given country, the worse the effects in terms of integration of immigrants into the labour market that were noticed by this country.

The 17th century faced some deep changes within the scope of the philosophy of nature. Having discarded hylemorphism, modern philosophers had to find new ways of gaining knowledge of and explaining natural phenomena. One of the new currents was the experimental philosophy that had a famous proponent – Robert Boyle. Nevertheless the new method also had its opponents, Thomas Hobbes being one of the most prominent of them. The present paper is an attempt to show the most fundamental reasons why the two philosophers took radically opposite positions towards the experimental method. The discussion started with T. Hobbes’s work Dialogus physicus de natura aeris which was a severe critique of Boyle’s New Experiments Physico-Mechanical, touching the Spring of the Air. The paper is not any examination of the detailed discussion of the two, rather it focuses on differences concerning the concepts of knowledge (philosophy) accepted by them and some theoretical problems interwoven with the way of experiment. It seems that Boyle accepted to some extent the probabilistic and temporal concept of knowledge, whereas Hobbes defended the traditional ideal of universal and certain one, and maintained that experiments cannot be any source of it. Hobbes was in favor of the deductive concept of natural philosophy. What is more, Hobbes pointed out that experimentalists’ attempts to secure some degree of certainty fail because they are built on some conventional presumptions. According to Hobbes, any outcome of an experiment must be strongly influenced by those assumed assumptions. Further development of sciences and also the philosophy of sciences proved the deductive concept of natural philosophy ineffective, on the other hand, however, Hobbes was right in pointing out the inevitable theoretical context of any pursuit after ‘matters of fact’.

Opis:
The article presents theoretical and methodological premises of the doctoral thesis in which the European Union civil service and the civil service in selected member states (France, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom and Italy) are analysed. The civil service is formed by the legal and cultural determinants, specific standards, dysfunctions and tools of the civil service. Moreover some researchers maintain that the concept of the civil service can only be used with reference to the state. Presumably the term civil service of the European Union is deliberately avoided because it would raise the negative connotations related to the federalization of the EU. The author intends to verify this term by comparing the public service in the institutions of the EU with the civil service in several European countries. A key approach adopted in the thesis is the new institutionalism which combines the features of institutionalism and behaviourism. First-order methods are the comparative method and the systems method, while the second-order method is the simulation method. The qualitative and quantitative methods will also be applied. Such approaches and methods were selected in order to be mutually complementary as well as useful in verifying the research hypothesis.

The ultimate goal of this paper is to investigate the pedagogical views and attitudes of Moroccan high school teachers towards Method-based pedagogy. It attempts to investigate the extent to which teachers are satisfied with and committed to conventional methods. Also, the paper aims at investigating the alternative practices teachers are more likely to resort to in order to compensate for the limitations of conventional methods. In addition to this, a further objective of this study is to investigate the extent to which pre-service teacher training programs in Morocco are aware of the challenges of the post-method era. This is measured through their awareness of the requirements of the post-method era and the extent to which teacher trainers concern themselves with equipping the prospective teachers with the necessary skills to be reflective researchers and responsibly eclectic teachers. In this respect, the data collection instruments opted for in the present study ranged from quantitative to qualitative in nature. The findings reveal that the vast majority of Moroccan high school teachers (P=78%) are dissatisfied with conventional methods and - (P=96%) of them- are not committed to one or two teaching methods. The vast majority report that they resort to an eclectic approach to language teaching due to the impracticality and inflexibility of the established methods. Most teachers (P=80%) admit that they use a random eclecticism as they rely mainly on their intuitive rather than principled judgments. In this regard, interviews with teacher trainers and supervisors also reveal that pre-service teacher training programs in Morocco limit themselves only to training the prospective teachers to use methods and approaches without training them to be responsibly eclectic. The findings also show that the majority of teachers do, to some extent, know about classroom research; however, they - (P=72%) of them- have never conducted it inside their classrooms. The teachers (P=57%) attribute this to the lack of financial support and to the fact that they are not well-trained to conduct research inside their classrooms. Finally, the results of this study imply many suggestions of which we mention: the introduction of a post-method pedagogy in the Moroccan pre-service teacher training programs, equipping teachers with the methodological tools necessary as well as supporting them financially to conduct classroom-research for the purpose of constructing teaching methodologies that suit the needs to the very specific students and contexts within which they work.

In human cultural development, the school age is of particular importance. Its beginning is marked by children achieving readiness to start reactive learning, i.e. learning under teacher’s instruction. At this time, the child shows the greatest responsiveness to knowledge and skills; moreover, the child has respect for adults who can help them complete tasks which they cannot do on their own. According to the assumptions of the cultural-historical trend, learning under instruction is the leading form of children activity in this period. It means that the child satisfies their most important developmental needs within this activity, and that the central developmental processes takes place at this time. Thanks to this activity, in the school age the child satisfies the need for productivity. Correct diagnosis of readiness to learn under instruction is, therefore, crucial for the child’s cultural development. It makes it possible to launch activities aimed at supporting it at the right time in the process. The experimental method may be more useful in this respect than other diagnostic methods. It allows for identification of means for supporting a child in the process of completing tasks which at the moment exceed their current capabilities. The experimental form proposed by Lev Vygotsky, known as the double stimulation method, appears to be particularly useful for diagnosing children’s readiness to learn under instruction.

In this paper, the author presents a pedagogical insight of conducting a detailed exploratory study through methodological departures within the subjective boundaries of a specific field. The work is based upon inferences drawn from the study of “queer” identities in an urban but inherently parochial setting of a postcolonial city – Kolkata. The paper attempts to map and chart the various aspects of conducting qualitative research in a relatively unexplored area, with rapidly evolving socio-cultural values and systems of identity formation. The paper charts out the experiences from the field, while dealing with both the apparent and the esoteric, with objective and empirical evidence to support the arguments presented herein.

The article is devoted to one of the most important dilemmas of the training of an actor, which for Konstantin Stanislavsky was the issue of freedom of creation within the school stage. According to the author of the “system,” precisely the very lack of freedom of creation is one of the greatest threats lying in wait for a young artist. The author of the present article remarks that passing on knowledge of artisanal nature, expressed in the strife for the result – examination at all costs or the result – diploma spectacle, frequently becomes a priority of education on stage. In the first part of the article, K. Stanislavsky’s ideas on the freedom of creation will be made closer. Also, the opinions of the Russian and Soviet theatre pedagogues – continuators of thought voiced by the author of the “system” will be a significant voice in the considerations presented below. The second part will be devoted to the main arguments which contribute to the rejection by K. Stanislavsky of the old model of work on the spectacle and role and which influenced the elaboration of the so-called method of the analysis of play and role in action (Rus. действен- ный анализ пьесы и роли).

The article describes an innovative method of qualitative research called collective biography writing (CBW), which is not known at all in the pedagogical research of the region of Central and Eastern Europe. CBW is focused on intensively felt, suggestive memories which are analysed collectively according to a given methodological procedure. CBW may be applied to discover complex conditioning and contexts of individual’s functioning, thanks to which we may try to answer the questions about what we really know about ourselves, others and the reality. The ultimate aim of using CBW is the exposure of what “life” as such looks like, how the world functions, what reality is like and what happens in it – the aim is understanding.

This article discusses automatic extraction of relevant words from sets of texts. The author briefly presents three methods aimed to extract the words from the corpus of words with regard to their frequency, or words whose occurrence next to each other is not random. First, he focuses on the keyword analysis method, then he discusses the Zeta method developed by John Burrows and Hugh Craig, and the third method covered in the article is the topic modelling method, which is becoming very popular recently, and consists in finding clusters of words co-occurring in similar contexts. Topic modelling was intended for a quick content search in large collections of documents. On the basis of 100 Polish novels, the article presents how this method can be used for linguistic studies.

The main cause of social exclusion is poverty, but the authors say thatpoverty is not synonimous with social exclusion. The authors assume that poverty is anessential dimension of social exclusion – perhaps the most important one , which apart fromthe remaining (selected) objective factors, will consist of characteristics social exclusion inPoland,with particular emphasis on the situation in kujawsko-pomorskie voivodship. An article in the theoretical section attempts to sort out the discussion on the issue of social exclusion, the relationship between poverty and social exclusion. Moreover focuses on the measurablefactors illustrating this issue and its spatial differentiation.At the very beginning to the analysis of spatial diversity of social exclusion was the review and selection of diagnostic variables characterizing this problem. Then using linearalignment method, referred as Perkal’s synthetic indicator, was made the classification ofsurveyed voivodships (from the point of view of the obtained indicators of the level of ofthreat to its inhabitants by social exclusion). In addition, as a supplement to Perkal’s syntheticindicato,was used Ward’s agglomeration method.The main part of the article focuses on the subjective analysis of selected factorsconducive to social exclusion. The study assumes that social exclusion is not the same aseconomic scarcity, that’s why were taking into account indicators that cover a wide range ofsocio-economic phenomena, also affecting non-economic aspects of life, including: registeredunemployed persons unemployed for more than 1 year in the total number of unemployedpersons; at risk of relative poverty line; at risk of “legal” poverty rate; at risk of extremepoverty rate; average monthly per capita disposable income in the household; numer ofpersons in families benefiting from social assistance due to poverty per 1000 inhabitants;percentage of dwellings equipped with bathroom; indicator of the test result in lowersecondaryschoolin mathematics and natural science; percentage of children covered by pre-school education.At the end examined subjects were sorted according to the value of Perkal’s index andthe classification of the voivodships was performed. Again particular attention at this stage ofthe analysis was put on the situation of kujawsko-pomorskie voivodship

The article is a voice in the discussion about the conditions of pedagogical professionalism in the context of not only understanding professional duties, but also constantly improving the quality of one’s competences and boldly going beyond the patterns in one’s duties. Among many proposals and different types of classifications, the author offers a new kind of perspective – pointing to the essence of teacher competence development as a complex, multistep and varied process, she suggests referring to the style of operation and the use of specific didactic means of communication by a particular teacher. The author of the article points to the coexistence of diverse competences and focuses on the long-existing concept of key competences, with particular emphasis on the complexity of competences related to communication in school situations. The author’s intention is to create a clear and precise competence structure, facilitating the recruitment process and evaluation of teachers’ work. The competence model is treated here as a tool that is widely used in human resources management in educational institutions.

The MCDA technique has been extensively and successfully applied for supporting decision making in negotiation processes. The mostly used techniques SAW, AHP or TOPSIS are based on direct preference information which requires from negotiator a clear and precise definition all the parameters of the preference model (e.g. issue weights, option rates, aspiration and reservation values etc.), so those techniques can be successfully applied in well-structured negotiation problems. But, many real negotiation problems are illstructured, that means that the negotiation space is imprecisely defined, and the negotiator’s preferences the vagueness or imperfect. The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the potentials and the applicability the UTA method, one of the techniques based on indirect preference information, in evaluation of negotiation offers, especially in ill-structured negotiation problems. The UTA (Jacquet-Lagreze and Siskos, 1978, 1982, 2001) is a multicriteria decision making method which is based on the linear programming model for inferring additive utility functions from a set of representative decision data. The example is also presented to elaborate and demonstrate the holistic judgment and the usefulness UTA approach for evaluation negotiation offers.

The aim of the paper is to use soft modelling and TOPSIS method in order to divide voivodeships in terms of the competitiveness level of companies. The paper verifies the hypothesis implying that the usage of two various research methods does not have considerable impact on the position of objects depending on the analyzed characteristic. The concluding part of the paper includes the comparison of the results of grouping objects obtained using the selected methods. The elaboration makes use of data from the year 2014. The results obtained on the basis of these two methods enabled the presentation of the competitiveness level of companies in urban functional areas in Poland as well as the possibilities of achieving competitive advantage by means of using additional funds from the European Union for the improvement of the conditions of their functioning.

Heidegger's analysis of modern science and especially Descartes' philosophy drawn in 1930s represents a significant shift contrary to the theoretical research in his work called Being and Time. While the main problem in the most significant Heidegger's work is the analysis of res extensa in Descartes' philosophy, later in Modern Mathematical Natural Science and in Age of the World Picture the main problem turns to be a picture of Descartes as a methodologist. By this theoretical research Heidegger tends to lead us to the knowledge that only by deep immersion into the problems of The principle of Reason we can gain the knowledge or the intuition of what happens in modern science. Here we also can reach the turning-point of the history of human thinking - the unity of modern science and modern philosophy. Heidegger's analysis of the famous Descartes' quote cogito ergo sum leads to the conclusion that sum is not a result of thinking but vice versa it is a fundament, fundamentum. According to him this sentence includes the fact that it is I who put. I am the one who puts and thinks. This sentense is special because what it talks about - subiectum - is the one who puts. According to Heidegger the utterance expresses not only the fact that I, the one who puts, am but also that my putting decides about the reality of everyone putting, which means of his/her Being as being.

Opis:
The article briefly presents the subject matter of the doctoral dissertation entitled “Relations of the European Union with the South Caucasus countries”, describing its rationale and premise. Main part of the article is devoted to the theoretical and methodological framework of the dissertation. The thesis is founded on the neoliberal-neorealist framework, and uses neoinstitutionalist/historical institutionalist, comparative and simulation methods. These theoretical and methodological choices are explained in the article, as well as the manner in which the approaches are applied in the dissertation, and expected outcomes of their adoption. The article concludes with a description of the sources available on the subject and assessment of the subject matter feasibility for a doctoral dissertation.
